It's fairly smart by south africa. Pakistan won't be able to chase 354 in 80 overs. That's over 4 an over. On a day 5 pitch, that's an absurd rate.

82 overs is enough to bowl Pakistan out. After all south africa were half all out in 55. And the pitch has probably got worse.

It's a no risk strategy where the options are only win or draw. Probably be a draw. Guess South Africa really don't want to risk that ranking or losing the series.

you can't. It's far too much on this sort of pitch. Openers will settle down and score slower and by the time we've got a start and can look to properly chase, it'll be 6 an over.

Hope Pakistan just play for a draw now. Going after the win would be foolish.

If you are able to chase a total of 300+ in a 50 over ODI then why cnt those teams do the same when they can do it slowly with alot of overs to spare, its wierd, these same players batting, and this is also a ODI pitch, on paper it seems way too easy for totals above 400 to be chased in 90 or 80 odd overs too, dunno why they dnt do it.

I am favouring Pakistan to chase 353 its not much to get u jus need 6 ppl to score sumwer in the region of 60-70 and thats it we've won!

Why is everyone so down on Taufeeq? Has a good average, a tick under 40. Ignoring the first innings, he looks to have a sound technique. Also has 4 hundreds. Looks a decent opener to me. Certainly a step up from Farhat. . .

And Pakistan should go for a win. If they lose, it'll be with a sense of honour. And if they win, it could be the kind of turn around that can make a team. Start this new dawn of Pakistani cricket with something special!

Yeh understand that but its not impossible to get a total which can be chased in 80 odd overs.

Bowling on the side would be cowardly by South Africans, I feel if Pakistan want to win a test and get up the rankings abit then they have to win today, after all we havn't won a Test series for a very long time...

Today is a very good chance to win and beat a team ranked 2nd in Tests, would do alot of good for the team and us all.
