Let's hope the fans are just to compensate for Pindi's colder climate incomparison to Lahore, and not to dish out another lottery pitch. They did use industrial fans last year against England too, but the pitches were alot like what we got in the first test in Lahore.

What kind of surface do you want bro like lahore i wanted the one like windies in multan where spin can kill these sena teams and can bundle them out under 100 runs?

Its a way to remove any moisture from the pitch.

Pakistan has adopted a spin strategy in test like they did during misbah era in uae. Now pakistani wickets are flat surfaces, so to make them spin wickets they use these fans to dry it up, get the wicket to break and have spin from day 1 and hell on day 4

One can make a very dry surface just by stopping watering of pitch 48 hours before game starts - a very dry surface by this process ensures ball spins on day 1 AND top starts crumbling after 150 overs which is 5th session itself .

Those types of pitches are not productive at all. The Lahore pitch and the Rawalpindi pitches from the England series are the perfect template for Pakistan at home, and they shouldn't deviate too much from that. Lottery pitches can give you a big win but they can also backfire badly like they did in the second test against West Indies where Pakistan got hammered.

Khurram in for Hasan. And Kamran in for Abdullah.
Abrar isn't very consistent to make bowlers hell. He was fine when novelty factor was there but not anymore.

A 2-0 victory over WTC champions would help heal some of the wounds pak cricket inflicted on its supporters and will be remembered for long. A 1-1 would be forgettable.

A dead pitch favours SA, while a day 1 rank turner makes it a lottery pitch.

The middle ground i.e., a Lahore type pitch is Pakistan’s best bet to get the result it needs from this match.

Absolutely ... having a unstandard pitch nullifies whatever advantage home side has !

Maharaj played last time in that series pak won comfortably in 2021 and pakistan lost the toss in pindi vs england batted last still won the game very comfortably it's about the skill how well you play spin pakistan is better than south africa in that way

Maharaj played last time in that series pak won comfortably in 2021 and pakistan lost the toss in pindi vs england batted last still won the game very comfortably it's about the skill how well you play spin pakistan is better than south africa in that way

Maharaj has improved a lot in the past 4 years, in my opinion

One thing that goes in Pakistan favor is that he didn't play the first match and might be slightly out of touch


If he is in form, it will be a treat to watch a faceoff between Nuaman and Maharaj's performances

Bowling group also needs Partnerships. Maharaj will lead his spinners in this game. There will be less let-offs by South Africa if Maharaj is in full song.

SA didn't really have a leader in their bowling attack in the last game


Needless to say, some of our right handed batters struggle against good left arm bowlers who have a good armer


If there is any player who can make a difference in this series for SA, it's Maharaj - provided he is in form

Babar is not going anywhere... But yeah Abdullah should... selectors should be willing to give preference to Kamran. He played well in domestics and earned his place. Although his last few innings were also not that great but Abdullah is a misfired bullet..

All those saying Pak should have 3 spinners (NA, SK , Abrar) need to have their heads examined. Abrar couldn’t finish a match last year and has the worst figures for a spinner in Pak. He’s doing fine in LO let him relax and learn control.

We may end up losing the toss and fielding first. 3 spinners aren’t gonna do much then. We need a good new ball bowler. I don’t know if Hasan is gonna step up or Jamal is the answer. Perhaps Khurram but he is perennially injury prone too. SSA was a bit wayward but he’s desperate for a medium Pace support bowler from the other end who can also maintain control.

I don't think so. If they've used those fans, it might be a low scoring affair.

Seems like everyone has their gun out for Hassan Ali but I think that he bowled pretty well. Got some seam movement as well. He is a good bowler , just needs to play a few matches to get back to his best. Pakistan is not exactly brimming with fast bowling talent at the moment and Hasan Ali has experience as well , and on his day can add some valuable runs down the order.

I understand that he has only 10 wickets in his last 10 matches ( 19 innings , 70 runs/wkt) . But against south Africa in this match he looked better.

A fast bowing all-rounder is what we need at 8. That would optimize team balance under the circumstances.

KG should come in but in A Shafique’s stead, who should be dropped for his fielding if not for his batting. Shan opens with Imam. KG takes his chance at No. 3. Minimal disruption to rest of order.

Aamer Jamal in for Hassan, who’s been averaging 70 per wicket as highlighted in thread.

I wouldn't change too much but instead take out Abdullah & move Shan to open. Bring in Kamran Ghulam in the middle order.

Good to see Shan get some runs as well as Imam continuing his form from domestic cricket. We do tend to attack them quite a bit in this forum, but give credit where it is due.
