I think it was a good one. If we can put up a total, we don't have to worry about batting last.

I hope you're right, it's still possible , but looks like a big "if" at the moment.

58-4 after 22.

Im watching this match,. this is one BAAAAD wicket. Ball bouncing off good areas, consistently and then sometimes not. its a normal and up wicket not an up and down wicket.

mate can you give a bit more description abt wats happening out there? cheers

It's unfortunate, but these two big guns have had to do the job on far too many occasions! Have faith in them.

we get anywhere near 250 ill be happy...i think asif will love bowling on this pitch..this match could be all over by day 3..
Kaneria will also get help but we all know he wont be taking any wickets because Kamran Akmal just cannot catch the ball. Anyways 250 is looking quite far right now, I am thinking more on the lines of 150-200

i think were making the pitch look worser then it is. we always do this soon as there is any hint of bounce ans movement we panic

can't belive we are losing wickets to kallis

Well he's got more Test wickets than your "hero-saab" so it isn't all that unbelievable!

Not fair Amoeba! He has taken like a hundred tests to take 200 scalps :)) .

Let's not comment on the pitch until South Africa has batted.

True, if anyone can do it 's The Big Man and The Master, looks like it's going to be a long hard grind today.

59-4 after 23 as MY survives a LBW shout off Kallis.

Crapinfo :
23.1 Hall to Inzamam-ul-Haq, no run, another huge shout! Curled back, struck the knee-roll. Not out is the verdict. That's two "marginal" calls in consecutive balls

Man that was close, Inzi lucky to still be there.

61-4 after 24.

that wasnt close it was hitting the MIDDLE of the middle stump

MY hits a big 6 off Kallis!

From Cricbuzz :

24.2 Kallis to Yousuf, SIX!!, Kallis digs it in short on the middle and leg, Yousuf goes on the backfoot and looks to pull it away, top edges it over fine leg for a biggie, that went miles up into the stands!!! first big hit of the Day!!!

(Hmmm. pretty sure Inzi hit that)

68-4 after 25.

Yousuf complained to the umpire about Kallis. Kallis being a mouthy b*tch as usual. Hopefully that gets Yousuf fired up.

I know dude, when I said "close" I meant lucky that Inzi is still there, not the decision ;-)

What's worrying is it shows how poor the umpire is, let's hope he doesn't give a bad decision against us at a crucial moment, we've had plenty of those so far this series.

finally inzy survive close lbw shot but he was givin out in last test so this even out

we have to score aorund 400 to have any chance of winning. other wise another innings defeat await us.

we need huge partnership between inzy and moyo. If we lose another wicket then say good bye to the series.

this is not a 400 wkt guys, the highest total from both sides will not exceed 250.

i second that, as i said earlier, wait till SA have to bat... should be fun!

Exactly. The pitch has more grass on it than many grounds in India and Pakistan. Not to mention up and down bounce already in the first session

only time will tell! so far we not looking good even to score 250 :(

it's dosn't matter if this pitch is 250 or 500. We will have to score around 400 to have a chance and 300 to be in the match.

Can't judge a pitch until both sides have batted.

u never know. Or if this pitch is like Karachi one? Where only first session was bad for batting.

no mention of the difficulty of the wicket or juice etc

11:00 26Jan2007 RTRS-Cricket-Ntini, Kallis spearhead South Africa attack

By Telford Vice
CAPE TOWN, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Fast bowlers Makhaya Ntini and Jacques Kallis spearheaded South Africa's attack on the first day of the third test against Pakistan in Cape Town on Friday.
Pakistan, who lost the toss and were put in to bat, were 70 for four at lunch. Mohammad Yousuf was 13 not out with Inzamam-ul-Haq on six.
Ntini, who took two for 24, struck first in the eighth over when he squared up Mohammad Hafeez with a straightening delivery and had him caught by AB de Villiers at third slip for 10.
Three balls earlier De Villiers had dropped a difficult chance offered by Imran Farhat, on 10, off fast bowler Dale Steyn.
Pakistan slipped to 27 for two when Yasir Hameed, who scored seven, played forward unconvincingly to Ntini and steered a head-high catch to Kallis at second slip.
Kallis, who was introduced into the attack at first change in the 15th over and took two for 21, claimed his first wicket in his second over when Farhat edged to Graeme Smith at first slip to be dismissed for 20.
Kallis then had Younis Khan caught by De Villiers at second slip, reducing Pakistan to 54 for four in the seventh over before lunch. De Villiers leapt high and to his left to secure a stunning catch.
South Africa made three changes to the team that lost the second test by five wickets in Port Elizabeth as Pakistan levelled the series at 1-1.
Herschelle Gibbs' absence was enforced by his ban for verbally abusing Pakistani supporters during the first test in Centurion, while fast bowler Andre Nel and allrounder Shaun Pollock were rested.
Batsman Boeta Dippenaar replaced Gibbs and will open the innings with Smith. Allrounder Andrew Hall and Steyn were brought in for Pollock and Nel.
Paceman Shahid Nazir replaced injured fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar in the only change to the Pakistan team.

they will mention juice on the wicket when Asif bowl them for 100.

Yousuf starts with a 4. He needs to be fluent. No need to restrict your style of batting.

1st ball after lunch, uppishly past gully for 4.
3rd ball much better shot for 4 by MoYo

Need to get to 150 here.......200 would guarantee our victory and take the Saffies out of the match.

150 minimum acceptable score.........less than 150 will make it too difficult for us to win. 200+ is fine though.......we'll win if we get 200.

I agree Hash. This decision can really come back to bite Smith in the rear.

Steyn is bowling realy fast the last delivery was 149kph !!
But he is bowling to many no balls.

Oh how i wish we had shoaib on this wicket ,throwing downsome thunder bolts at 95+ mph and watch South africans dance.

Good defend shown by Mohammed Yousuf in the last over, Steyn bowled a some quick deliverys Mohammed Yousuf was very watchfull.

If Pakistan lose 2 quick wickets, then they'll be bowled out under 100
