Pakistan vs South Africa | Match 30, World Cup | Lord's | June 23, 2019 | Pakistan innings

Jeez. Why are people never happy???
If he bats first people complain. If he bowls first people complain.

i think the problem is sarfraz doesn't have his own ideas and his decision making is not of his own..he can't decide and make decisions at all specially in pressure situations thats why ppers are always frustrated

Because, this is a call taken from fear (of chasing), not from strength (of defending a total). PAK can lose batting first as well, but you don't bat first at Lord's in a Day game. Failure of chasing is lack of capability, not mental issue - almost same/similar batting line-up chased 3 back to back elimination games 2 years back in same country. And, PAK has a scary memory of batting first in Day games on this ground!!!!

Poor call, I must say, Faf must be happy and I wish PCT proves me wrong today.

See off the new ball and bat sensibly afterwards. Just don’t go out there with a target score in mind. Pakistan should win this.

This is a decision taken based on fear and media pressure tbh

We’ll know in the first 10 overs I guess. Can Rabada make use of that fresh pitch considering his current form?

Hahaha bat first is wrong as well as ball first is wrong
Is their any in between way?

Faf wanted to bowl first.

This must be a poor decision but again our bowlers are always unable to taken even 1 wicket in 1st 10 overs against Aus and Ind

We have no choice but to bat first

According to Dawn newspaper Mohsin will return in PCB either as Selector or as coach? Your opinion please Ronaldo7, Nassim, MMH, Ansari...
RIP Pakistan cricket!!!!!

If it's a foregone conclusion that the former Bollywood sidekick will be given one of the two roles, then I must say, he should be Chief Selector - that'll keep him out of coaching job, and even the Joker of Clubs can't do worse as CS than the current man in charge ....

Problem is, Pakistan has poor opening bowlers and would probably waste the new ball anyway. As it is, the game could be over in the first 6 overs if the Pakistan openers fail to negotiate the new ball.

Batting first in a 10.30AM start at Lord's can be fraught with danger as many Natwest one day finals have shown.

Need to apply ourselves for the first 10-12 overs then look to accelerate.

Shaheen what an overrated bakwas bowler keeps getting picked. No balance need a right handed bowler why not Hasnain? Captain and coach too conservative. Put in Hasnain tell don't worry if you go at 10 an over but get wickets. And Hafeez? Really 16 years of failure rewarded handsomely.

Good decision to bat first. I support it. Why? Coz we cannot chase.

Now to hope Imam babar and Sohail put some quality runs on the board.

The other two BIG guys there, one has managed cricket teams for 20+ years in similar conditions ... and the other one had been at receiving end of such calls several times in his playing career - Lord's 1999, Lord's 2001, Centurion 2003, Southampton 2004, Barbados (?) 2007 .......the forth one (bowling coach) has played there for 10+ years.

But yes, Sarfraz is like a dead man walking - living a life of convicted criminal at condemn cell.

Really have you even seen him bowl of late. Barely hitting 140. He got one delivery at 150 and everyone having a fit. But he does bowl a good short ball.

Can you defend? That AUS side almost took toss out of the equation, this PAK side also has taken toss almost out of equation. If it backfires, I hope someone is held accountable.

Not a bad decision to bat first regardless of conditions. Saffers are poor chasers as well. Pakistan need to score 280-300 and game is in the bag. Anyway Pakistani bowlers would have wasted the new ball on this green pitch.

Is everybody looking forward to Wasim Akram telling us about the fielding positions, reading the score card, run rate and how many overs left?
Well if our batsmen paid attention to the field postions especially ul haq and Hafeez they could learn to rotate strike.

QUOTE=castortroy;10356393]Watch Rabada go through us[/QUOTE]

Very much possible, the 6 tailenders we put upfront usually poo their pants when they see someone with a bit of pace such as Cummins etc

Why WY thinks 250 is a safe score here? It's a shorten squire boundary at Lord's and that out field looks a race track, nothing much in wicket either!!!!!

Shabaah boys! Really hoping for a big response from our team today iA! :)

Waqar is not known for tactical competence but then again not many Pak ex players are.

Akhtar was saying on our tour of NZ last year that 220 was defendable.

Rabada has been ordinary so far apart from the Indian match. You have to bowl very poorly to allow someone like Fakhar to dominate you.

First 10 over is extremely important for Pakistan. Hopefully batsmen nerves are settle

Imam needs to show intent

He shows intent it's more to do with his substandard execution. Can't rotate strike and can't find gaps. It's seems he doesn't know his own game because he tries power hitting and gets into awkward positions throwing his wicket away after plodding along. Nobody would mind if he strikes @75-80 but gets a big ton with others batting around him. Warner getting criticised for low strike rate but what we wouldn't give for a player who could do that and score big.

Yes same as Pakistan - Win all their games and hope England lose theirs.
