I think it's become very easy to concur that Misbah's captaincy was one of the best the world has ever seen. To make the best possible use of below average bowlers like Imran Khan, Rahay Ali, Rehman, Sohail and even the likes of Bhatti, Gul, Cheema and Junaid was remarkable and the way he did it is spectacular. Other captains can't even make good use of established players like Amir, Yas, Hasan.

And not just the captaincy, his batting is SEVERLY underrated. For a good period the man averaged 50 and his contributions of 50 and stabilizing each and every innings after the score looked something like 12-3 was unmatchable. I'm going to go as fast as saying that Misbah the batsman has win Pakistan more games than any other batsman in the last 20 years if you look at percentages.

Can't believe we targeted the poor guy for every defeat but forgot that every single victory was because of him. And now his void is being felt.

So losing 3-0 in Australia and first ever captain to lose against NZ in 31 years was all just our imagination :))


And Misbah almost always played two spinners in UAE which was a major cause for our victories, here Mickey sahab is thinking three pacers is the way to go.

IF you are going by just this test series then you can only extrapolate and say Misbah was the worst LOI captain ever because he hardly won anything in LOI but Sarfaraz won a world tournament with nearly the same side.


LOL at Misbah fans over-joyous at Pakistan's misery because it's not their guy who is at the rough end of the stick. With fans like these who needs foes.

There were some good wins but overall 6th was the ranking when he left the team was on a downward spiral and he left grooming only one decent batsman in Azhar.
 
Lets see how far can our tail survive. I'll be really surprised if they managed to avoid follow-on runs...

Pak clearly missing Misbah & Younis here.. They shuld have trained few youngsters in their prime to become like them now..

I must say Pak doesn't have specialist openers or specialist spinners in these conditions..

Heck I bash Sarfaraz too... but to use this opportunity to claim how supposedly ATG Misbah's captaincy was is laughable.

One drawn series in England and all of a sudden he is the greatest captain ever :)))

Well, when Misbah took over we hadn't won a test series in four years. He got non-stop abuse for his entire tenure and now it looks like we'll lose a test series in the UAE immediately after his retirement.

Is it any wonder that people might feel that way?
 
Let's see who performs in the second innings.

Sami and Shan both fighting for a place. Shehzad and Imam (hopefully not Butt) waiting in the wings to replace them for the England tour.

Babar and Shafiq both fighting for their places. Usman should replace one of them. Unless both of them get good scores. And if both of them don't, then I'd bring in Yamin also.

ATG Misbah even drew a series against minnow Zimbabwe... so lets not get into this mud slinging match of how great Misbah's captaincy was.
 
Poor Yasir... he has to bowl the bulk of the overs, has to pick all of the wickets and now has to save the team with the bat as well.

No no that is just our imagination. Misbah the great hardly lost a match in his captaincy. Even beat SA, Aus, NZ and England home and away in complete whitewashes.

He even whitewashed India even though we never played them.

No, the first class system and the selectors build a sustainable team. Captains don't have that kind of power over selection nowadays.

Let me tell you how it works around here.

A captain we like

- Do we continue to win games after his retirement? Look at how great he was! He built a team that will continue to be successful! What a legend!

- Do we become useless after his retirement? Look at how great he was! The team struggling so much without him proves how much this legend is missed!

A captain we don't like

Do we continue to win games after his retirement? Look at how useless he was! This proves that anybody could win games with these players, what a hack!

Do we become useless after his retirement? Look at how rubbish he was! Didn't even put a good team together to carry on after him, what a pathetic fraud!

Pace bowling has lacked penetration on these docile surfaces

Sami Aslam can be excused since he is just nightwatchman and his job is to last 10-20 overs to blunt the new ball. He is not a proper batsman.
 
while pak was bowling all i see was excuses that it is a flat pitch with nothing for pace bowlers.sl bowlers have shown how inept is pak bowling

Usman to replace Babar

Unless they bat well in the 2nd innings.
 
Yasir reminds me of Warne during the 05' Ashes. Just him and the opposition.
 
If SRL enforces follow on, PAK should resuffle batting with Azhar opening, Babar at 3, Haris 4 & Shaan at 7.
 
Lakmal is being a bit silly here, he can see Yasir is getting his front leg out of the way and swinging hard. Just stick it a bit wider outside off stump and make him reach for it, or bowl a slower ball on the stumps. Don't bowl short or at his body because that's in his arc

Pak dismissed for 262.. time for Misbah fans to rejoice.
 
Don't think Sri Lanka will enforce the follow on, the sensible decision here is to bat again and make Pakistan toil in the field without an injured Amir and grind us down in the heat.
 
We have excuses for every occasion that we run into showing our ineptness at the International level. We blame the coach, we blame the pitch, we blame the Umpires, we blame the whatever .... but the Team !!!!!
