Shafiq has massively deteriorated over the last year. Before the WI series, his average was in 40's. And he's given us a world class batsmen in Azhar. How is it the captains fault when selectors like Inzi persist with mediocrity like Shan Masood?

Misbah made the best possible use of below average players. Babar Azam, Sami Aslam looked world class under him and even the likes of Shan Masood got big hundreds. That is what happens when you have an ATG captain. He turned average players into world beaters and as soon as he left, the reality of everyone has come forth.

yes sami was world class under him in Aus tour and against WI,,,what is Azhar ali a strokeless wonder..and the lesser said about shafiq the better it is,,,and dont forget shafiq was even more awful under his last 5 test matches under Misbah...shafiq has been like this,perform under no pressure and when it matters nothing.

Obviously because there was no one to save the day down the order when 90% of the times our scores looked like 15-3. I like Sarfraz but do you think he has even half the patience and temprament that Misbah did? Even half of it? No. And therefore, he should ideally bat higher up the order. At least bat at Misbah's spot for God's sake.

I have never seen such dire batting in my life. 50 runs in 32 overs on a perfectly good batting pitch when looking to win the match. This has to be one of the lowest points in our Test history. We are looking at a good 5 year term at being number 7-8 in the Test rankings.

Not sure - few things can be done, but result might not change much unless there is better planning in terms of XI selection, type of wicket & on field Captaincy.

I would have dropped Shan, Sami, Asad - but not sure whom to bring, may be Amin, Usman & an all-rounder. Also, I would have opened with Azhar(or drop him - this guy is the biggest yes man, he has agreed to drop down at 3 to accommodate Shan). Would have sacked Sarfraz as Test Captain - after all those big talks, he has basically shown guts on exchanging Babar with Haris & himself probably coming at 7 - WK as Test Captain doesn't work, that's why Doujon, Marsh, Knott or Evan were hardly made even deputy & they were managed by far intelligent administrators.

AND, definitely would have played 5 bowlers in UAE, actually almost everywhere, unless it's a 3 day wicket - maximum 170 overs in combined innings of work load. What 6 batsmen doing, can be done by 5 easily - but, one extra bowler would reduce at least 50 runs target in combined innings; I don't think 6th batsman is adding that much for PAK.

if you play shots and get out you will be called irresponsible. So it is a catch 22 situation. Ideally you should rotate strike and punish loose balls.

I didn't think I'd ever say this but I think Azhar would have been a better captain than Sarfraz. At least the guy doesn't carry a false sense of aggression. This is what aggression is? I know this is his first series and we should give the poor guy some slack but he can at the very least accommodate his OWN batting position.. Seriously disappointed.

Only a simulacrum of positivity exists in his persona. I seriously though that he would try and guide his team home all he's going to do is come in next, score a quick 20 odd and head towards the dressing room. 2 days later he'll come out saying, "Yes.. I should have batted higher...". It's almost as if the guy has no control.
