Pakistan vs Windies @ Multan [2nd Test -Day 1]

I think we might as well expect a nice 100 or 2 from Lara as well. Nothing in the pitch.
unless theree is rain when windes bat and the mositure gets to the pitch......nice planning inzi??

This question is for people who are watching the game live:

Please tell, how does the pitch look like? Is it going to be supportive for seam bowling? Does it have enough bounce? Did our players get out after making mistakes? or was that the case of good bowling? Why Razzi is playing?

Superb cover drive by Yousuf for 3 runs.

Lazy and elegant as ever.

there is some swing early on...gayel is getting some tunr on it it si quite simply early birds get the worms

MIG says: nothing in the pitch? means 100 or two from MOYO too....Inzi made pitch for his 100 too (-: expect the same from Chandu mian and Lara bhai

Obviously the plan here would be to get as many as we can and then look to bowl WI out twice. Dont want to be batting again. Who knows with a huge total confronting them, WI might just crumble even on this pitch?

they ae right ...wickets should be obtained with new ball.other wise it is the bat that will talk

2 more for Yousuf, as he cuts a wide delivery away. Lazy running though by Yousuf and Younis.

Again Dave Mohammad has to wait a while before getting a decent bowl.

With the field widespread, easy singles are being taken at ease

174 for 2

that should be Chandu and Laru :D

5 minutes to tea. Another easy single takes the home team to 179 for 2

late cut by Younis. Sloppy fielding at 3rd man by Ganga - 2 more runs

Quicker delivery by Gayle beats Younis - well bowled.

Gayle looks like a "nothing" bowler, but he's a thinking bowler and deceptive

Loose full toss by Dave Mohammed, swept away for 1 by YK

confusion as the scoreboard says 50 to YK, but he's only on 48

187 for 2 at tea. 78 runs in 27 overs for 1 wicket during the session

y they r playing so slow if there is nothing in the pitch??? are they playing for a draw already or what??

4 runs for Yousuf straight after tea, through mid wicket. MY moves onto 29

Square cut by YK - poor delivery from Powell. 16th test 50 for Younis

These guys should play fast as we all know weather is not good and we are sure lose 75 overs because of bad light.

Huge 6 over long off by Yousuf. Class shot

Dissapointing shot. Good innings though and a solid partnership. Cannot afford to lose another wicket today.

A very needless shot by YK. He guided the ball staright to the hands of the gully fielder.

It was like catching practice.

now moyo will have to slow down to not lose another wicket today

Ganga drops Yousuf at point. A fairly easy chance too. Yousuf survives

oh no he is already too slow :31:

First day of a test match where Pak are already ahead in the series. Its important to lay good foundations on day 1 rather than risky cricket.

Moyo in last over saved by Ganga who according to cricinfo dropped a sitter.

you can not lay a good foundation by just hanging out at the pitch ... you need to score runs too.. by not scoring singles and two's they r putiing pressure on themselves

Remember we are playing for a draw. A draw means that Windies cannot win the seies and they will be under tremodously pressure in the last test to win the game

MoJo/Inzi partnership 6 overs and Inzi only faced 3 balls ......

and who told you that???
what if WI draw this game and v losse the next game??
if we are playing with a negative mind set ( which i dont think so) then bel. me it will be very hard to win the series....

And what if they win the last test? Why take it till the end?

And we harp on about Farhat when YK is similar in dismissals.
Good point. I guess Younis scores plenty of big scores so the dismissal is brushed aside. Though Farhat is critisized more than any other player currently in the team.

Why even give the Windies a sniff of victory. Lets accumulate and occupy. Razzak could provide some fireworks at the end of the innings

It matters more when a guy who doesnt score consistently gets out in the same way than if a guy who will score virtually every time hes at the crease gets out

Younis played one bad shot and it cost him, Farhat continually slashed at wide deliveries till his luck ran out, big difference.

There is a HUGE difference between the two, Younis plays rash shots every now and then but nothing like Farhat who scores 30-40 in ODI's and 50-60 in TESTS and suddenly thinks his job is done, he keeps on playing stupid shots (wild slogs) till he gets out.

Bad captaincy here. I'd give Mohammad a few overs before the new ball instead of Gayle.

248 for 3.

West Indies still not taking the new ball.

Inzamam very watchful today. His footwork is very assured and evident.

When he's getting forward its almost an exagerrated movement.

The one defeat in Karachi was an aberration. It won't happen again.

It's very unlikely that we could win on this pitch without our main strike bowlers. That last thing we want is for the Windies to get a big first innings lead

Yes, but when you are a vice captain and a potential future captain you shouldn't be playing shots like he did. I remember the abysmal way he got out against SA and and prior to that he would just laugh while everyone was dropping like flies.

Yep, I understand that. Its just that Farhat isn't even given a fair chance by PPers before he is slagged. He has earnt his spot in the side through consistent performances in domestic cricket, like Hafeez. After the first test posters wanted his head. I mean by the end of this series if he still hasn't performed then I am willing to drop him. Like many others, I dont believe he is the best long term option for us.
