Be wary England , sarfaraz has got his favorite shot , sweep against fast bowlers out..
It's not surprise to see Malik doing well at 4 considering his best era as batsman came at 3 under Inzi in ODIs ... He's a guy who needs time at the crease before he gets going and he is showing that today.
Can't believe some people here actually wanted that flop Rizwan to replace Sarfraz![]()
Bro, this was the game in 1975 as well. Those days, the context was different, so this 302 would have been 222; but the formula of chasing was always same. The major change in ODI is in 1st 15 overs, but the likes of Javed, Lamb, Gower, Deano, Azhar, Border, Martin .... all played like this from No. 4 & 5 in 70s & 80s as well. Now, the boundary has shrunken, 2 balls, better bats, lighting fast out field - so you see lots of boundary. But in late 80s, Javed had 9 or 10 consecutive 50+, most of them chasing & some not out. Only change would have been in 90s that most of them would have batted as opener or No. 3.
The standard game PAK plays now days was obsolete in 1975 as well.
Its not a surprise that the most experienced player in the team finally showed up in a dead rubber against a weakened English bowling attack.
Where was he in the first three matches he played?
reminds when he swept faulkner onto the roof of Sharjah.
Wish we could see more of that
Good shot . 3 runs from Malik
A century from both of these guys will be great
Can't understand all the Malik haters. One would think he hasn't been trying up to this point. If it is so easy for Malik to score runs when he needs to secure his place, he must be really talented.
A bit random but I really want to see a mirpuri play for Pakistan, I've never seen one play for our country.

Like most of you, I'm also on the fence when it comes to Malik .. but to be fair, he's not a number 6 batsman .. if you are going to play him, he needs to play at 4 ..
Yes I would also like to see some kashmiri and baloch players play for Pakistan. Hopefully we will one day.
Wow we are never 186/3 after 30. Wow wow wow
who thinks Imad should come in next? For one thing do we want three left-handers in a row?
Yes 300 has been 250 or 230.
But you still gotta score those runs.
In the past, if you collapsed to 140/5 chasing 222...you could slowly go to get that target with good solid lower order bats.
These days if you collapse to 250/5 chasing 300...you have to score 50 runs (proportional increase in runs) but the DURATION (balls) at which you can get them has shrunk.
So that means a solid slow lower order bats or tail in 70s or 80s would be useless in modern era.
Cos you still have to score those extra runs but now at a quicker speed.
And when wickets fall, those extra runs at quicker speed keep getting tougher and tougher. So while everything is just scaled up....its not really the same cos the skillsets needed nowadays is speed more than solidity.
Weakened attack? All their 1st choice fast bowlers are playing today. And context matters, he is batting at 4 today. Historically Malik has always done well in the top order and he is showing it again today. Never been effective at 6 or lower.
Time to give credit where it's due.

Funny thing is these guys are attacking pacers the way you attack spinner, they can do it here because wicket is slow. That will not be case on most days.
They don't really have game to go after seamer on a regular wicket. Which is Pakistan's biggest problem. [emoji45][emoji45][emoji45]

Is Morgan a poor captain because Malik and Sarfaraz are milking singles easily or is he a poor captain because he introduced spin that both batsmen find easy

But, you haven't factored the batting of Marshall, Wasim, Qadir, Warne, Hadlee, Saq, Holding, Lawson, Madan, Binny ....... in modern era - those guys used to have 15/75 or better stats those days, not to mention Kapil, Khan, Botham. Chasing 75 in 15 overs with 5 down was lot tougher than 100 in 15 these days, trust me. Adjust the boundary size & take 2 balls out - many modern All-rounders would have ended with red face.
Lol are you serious?
The attack of: Wood, Woakes, Plunkett, Stokes, Moin Ali, Adil Rashid is equivalent to the one played today?
Also if moin and rashid were playing today they would have scored more runs too.
I give credit where its due, its with sarfraz who actually performed in more than one match this series!
