Really don't want our players playing in these club matches, it doesn't really help, I would rather they play the County matches which will be much more beneficial to them.

Might as well for the cash but honestly this is where Wasim Khan needs to get involved and perhaps see if he can speak to the likes of Somerset and Lancashire which we have a good relation with. I said it once and say it again this will help our batsmen play the Dukes ball better in swinging conditions and also great experience for our bowlers.

Wishful thinking.

Counties will only sign very few Pakistani players. The vast majority will be of no interest to the Counties.

Is it they only sign a few Pak players or only a few Pak players put their names forward?

Any particular reason why most of them are in Lancashire league?

Lancashire League is arguably the most famous club league in the UK where a lot of international greats plied their trade including our own Fazal Mahmood.

Area has a large Asian community so they'll feel comfortable - with many Pakistani restaurants and takeaways around so a win-win for our boys :))

The first. Pakistans domestic system and the quality of the pool of its players is poor tbh

Unless you play for the national team and are at that elite bracket as a player youre not going to get offered a county contract and rightly so

Hmmm that's fair, just wish some of our current test players start getting chances. It'll help them in the long run and keep them busy.

Usman Tariq - Seedhill, Nelson on 18th April 2021 (50-over match) - Lancashire League Division Two 2021

Limited spaces, not many great players in Pakistan at the moment and sometimes the availability of Pakistani players due to international series is an issue.

2 ways to look at it - yes the cash helps the players as some of them aren't contracted by any of the current domestic teams and also for some of the younger players it's a good chance to develop their game.

In fact Wasim Akram played in the North East of England in club cricket long before he played for Lancashire.

Just think it'll excel players, but i can understand from England's perspective of scarcity of spaces. However, club cricket really doesn't help in my view.

I think the clubs up north have very good budgets for senior/overseas pros. Accommodation, flights and £15-20k seasonal budgets for the senior player+coach

The rates in london (Middlesex and Surrey) are good but they prefer Australian/South African and Kiwi pros more (at the above rate). Overseas pros are very much non-existent now in Middlesex tbh. The home office rules are very tight on paying professional cricketers at amateur level

Longton will hand a debut to Pakistan batsman Saad Ali in tomorrow’s NSSCL Premier Division home game against Leek.

Ali was forced to miss last weekend’s narrow victory at Cheadle because he was quarantining as part of coronavirus guidelines.

2nd May games - scores of note for Pakistan players

Mansoor Amjad 41 and 3/22 - vs Rochdale CC

M Irfan 45 of 39 & 3/71 for Hornchurch vs Crouch End CC 1st XI

Muhammad Saad 83 off 103 for Tynemouth CC vs Chester Le Street CC (1st May)

Kenilworth Wardens in the Bham league have Ali Zaryab playing for them. Scored a good 100 a couple of weeks ago

What is the average earning of overseas cricketers

Depends on the club, the league and the experience of the player.

Some players play for a few thousand pounds, others can earn up to £15,000 plus add-ons for performances and trophy wins.

What is the average earning of overseas cricketers

The best paid local players are the likes of Kadeer Ali, brother of Moeen Ali. He would earn somewhere in the region of £15000 per season. Most of the local pros get paid per game, and on average they play 20 games per season. From what I heard they get between £200 and £300 per game. The overseas players are paid wages, given accommodation and a ticket to and from the UK. The pro at my local club was living for free at a players house and get around £150 per game.
The desi pros also get paid to play in desi parks leagues on Sundays for which they can pick up anything from £50 to £100 per game depending on their profile. I know from a good source that Imran Qadir son of Abdul and brother of Usman was getting really well to play in the Essex parks league on Sundays a couple of years back, for which he used to travel over a 100 miles to play as he lived in the Midlands.

9th May : Hammad Azam 38* and 1/12 in 8 overs, for Read CC vs Whalley CC

I don't think clubs have got the huge budgets they once had. A lot of clubs used to have rich owners and members who pumped money into the club, but that seems to be reducing now.

A lot of clubs would have sponsors pay big money for overseas stars, but even that seems to be reducing nowadays.

You are right that the benefactors are mostly old or have lost interest. What is interesting to me is that some Birmingham League teams have up to 6 or 7 players getting paid decent money. And even clubs that are lower down the leagues are paying decent money. So the question is where is the money coming from. Even the Sunday Park teams pay local and overseas players.

Must be some wealthy sponsors and local businesses who have been affiliated with the clubs for a long time.

Mansoor Amjad is injured - hamstring problem - is expected to be back in play by the weekend.

I cant see them improve their skill by playing club cricket tbh. But yes its good money that they will make and that's a good enough reason. Most of these cricketers are too good for Club Cricket but probably just below the required grade or County. I expect someone like Bilawal Bhatti to run through all batting orders and hit a few tons

Just out of interest Devon Conway played Lancashire League cricket a few years ago too.

Club cricket is great for players who want to experience English conditions and test themselves in those conditions, especially the younger guys.

the standards of club cricket are a lot higher than you think, players will take more from this then any fc game back home. Plus you get a feel of alien conditions, invaluable experience would only improve a players skillset.

A club cricketer bowled out an entire team for just eight runs - then went for a walk round Hollingworth Lake with his family to celebrate.

Madussar Bashir took an incredible 10 wickets - all clean bowled - for Stalybridge CC's 2nd XI on Saturday.

His unlucky opponents Hollingworth CC 2nd XI were trounced by eight wickets after scoring just 26 runs in the Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League fixture on Saturday.

Only two bowlers have ever taken a fabled '10 fer' in the history of test match cricket - Jim Laker for England against Australia in 1956 and Anil Kumble for India against Pakistan in 1999.

adussar's figures are a club record and are thought to be a league best.

And it could have been an even better day for the left arm swing bowler, known as Muddy, as he also narrowly missed two chances to claim a hat-trick.

With his heroics meaning the match was wrapped up by 3pm the 29-year-old British Gas worker, from Clarksfield in Oldham, took advantage of the early finish and celebrated by going for a walk round Hollingworth Lake in Rochdale with his family.

He said: "It was indescribable.

"It will never happen again. I’ve had one eight for and a few seven fors, but I never thought I’d have a 10 for.

"I was just running hard and throwing it nicely. My dad’s in his 70s and he’s a big cricket fan so showing him the photo of me with the match ball was the best feeling.

"It was just amazing."

Club secretary and wicket keeper Keith Bowers told the Manchester Evening News the feat was a welcome boost for the club after a break-in on Monday saw about £2,800 of raffle ticket money plus some bar takings stolen.

He added; "It was a once in a lifetime thing.

"He kept me busy putting the stumps back in!

"He's a very good bowler - he took seven wickets for us last week - and everything just came together for him.

"When it got to the last wicket he had to wait two overs and I was thinking 'Should I drop it if I get a chance' just so he could have a crack at getting all 10.

"He's a club stalwart, he's been playing here for years, and we were all just so pleased for him.

"I think even Jimmy Anderson would be proud of him."

There are more calls to have defibrillators on grassroots sports grounds after a cricketer collapsed and died.

Maqsood Anwar, from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, was playing for Sully at their home pitch against Monkswood Cricket Club on Saturday afternoon.

It is thought the 44-year-old father of three had a heart attack.

Friends and other players said a defibrillator might have saved his life.

Sully Centurions Cricket Club said it would discuss the issue of defibrillators at their club meeting on Monday night.

The Welsh government said it was funding the promotion of CPR training and defibrillators at sports clubs.

David Sylvester, Sully club chairman, said a memorial fund would be set up in Mr Anwar's name.

"He was a real gentleman, quietly spoken but wanted to do things to help the club as well as play," he said.

He said it had been "nothing but pleasure having him at the club" and praised the "tremendous togetherness" of the club's members and wider cricketing community.

Friend and fellow cricketer Zia Gehlan said Mr Anwar had been "over the moon" to be playing his third game for Sully.

He said: "Max bowled four overs, got a bit of pain in his chest and said he didn't feel well - he thought he had heat stroke and an ambulance was called.

"Then he collapsed - if he had known the symptoms it would have been different.

"He didn't smoke, he didn't drink, he was just one of the kindest of men," he said.

"The ambulance was there and they confirmed it was a heart attack, they tried to revive him but it was too late.

"He passed away doing what he loved doing - playing cricket.

"There should be a defibrillator on site, they could have had the machine on him. If clubs can afford covers this should be funded too," Mr Gehlan said.

Barry Athletic Cricket Club said Mr Anwar was a "true gentleman" who had played for them for over 15 years and that they were devastated to hear about his death.

Monkswood Cricket Club, near Usk in Monmouthshire, said: "We would also like to express our thanks to the ambulance crew and first responders who attended the scene.

"Yesterday's events reiterate the necessity of having defibrillators at all sports venues. We support all calls for legislative change and funding to allow this."

A spokesperson for Cricket Wales said it was "deeply saddened to hear of the loss".

"Our thoughts and most heartfelt condolences are with Maqsood's family, friends and team-mates, especially the first responders and players who witnessed the tragedy.

"We will continue to offer support to those affected, through the leadership of the club, with whom we are liaising.

Labour MS Alun Davies - who had a cardiac arrest in a park last year - said he hoped to introduce a bill in the Senedd to deliver "universal coverage" for defibrillators.

Welsh government spokesperson said: "The number defibrillators in communities and buildings across Wales is increasing constantly and we would encourage people to register them with the ambulance service.

"We have provided funding to the Save a Life Cymru campaign, which is working with organisations across Wales, including sporting organisations, to raise awareness of the importance of CPR training and the use of defibrillators through the Touch Someone's Life campaign."

The Pakistani professional was fresh from the highest NYSD total ever with 226 in the previous week’s game when Billingham had scored a massive 387 for five in fifty overs. Tahir broke the previous record total of 213 which has stood to former Richmondshire professional Ijaz Ahmed since 1995.

Bilawal Bhatti 110* (65) for Bagnall Norton vs Ashcombe Park CC - BAGNALL NORTON CC WON BY 128 RUNS

Pakistani all-rounder Kashif Bhatti has agreed a move to Ashcombe Park for the 2022 North Staffs and South Cheshire League season.

Bhatti, aged 35, is a left-arm spinner and right-handed batsman who has a wealth of experience and been part of the Pakistan squads.

He toured England in 2020 when Pakistan helped to ensure international cricket could be staged during the coronavirus pandemic, but he didn’t feature in the Test series.

Bhatti has played 94 first-class matches, 100 List A and 58 Twenty20 matches in his professional career.

He currently plays for Baluchistan and has scored two first-class centuries and taken 368 wickets in the long format.

Bhatti has previous experience of playing in the NSSCL.

Australia's Marsh happy to play any role in the T20 squad
He enjoyed a highly-productive two-season stint in Division One with Moddershall in 2013 and 2014.

The Modd men finished third in his first summer and the club, but they went one better the following year and their runners-up position saw them promoted to the Premier Division.

The Nawabshah-born star produced some outstanding figures during his two summers in the league.

Bhatti captured 165 wickets in all competitions for Moddershall, and also weighed in with 1,768 ruins over the two summers.

His stats included 14 five-wicket hauls and three hundreds. During his time at the club, Moddershall reached the Staffordshire Cup final (2013) and semi-finals (2014).

They were beaten by Knypersley in the 2013 final.

Ashcombe Park will be looking to recover from a poor season which saw them lose their top-flight status.

The Basford Bridge Lane club finished rock-bottom of the Premier Division after winning just three of their 22 matches.

Their cause wasn’t helped by the fact that professional Ross Whiteley rarely figured due to his limited-overs commitments on the domestic first-class scene.

However, they will be eager to ensure that Bhatti remains in place for the vast majority of the season - if not all of it - as they attempt to mount a promotion push to reclaim their top-flight spot at the first attempt.

Ashcombe Park tweeted: “We are delighted to announce that Kashif Bhatti will be our overseas professional for our 2022 campaign.

“Kashif is a vastly experienced all rounder with vast experience in England, Pakistan and other parts of the world.”
