Referring to the recent mob-lynching of a university student for 'blasphemy', Pakistani Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai, in a strongly-worded video message, said no one but Pakistan is to blame for the poor image it has in the world.

"We talk about Islamophobia and how people give a bad name to our country and our religion. No one is giving a bad name to our country or our religion. We are doing that all by ourselves. We are enough for that," Yousafzai said in the video message.

On Thursday, Mashaal Khan, a 23-year-old journalism student in Pakistan was murdered by a screaming lynch mob on his university premises. The mob said Mashaal posted 'blasphemous' content on his Facebook account. Not only did the lynch mob beat to a pulp and then shoot dead Mashaal, it then continued to pound the boy's lifeless body with sticks - all of this in the clear light of day.

Yousafzai said that she spoke to the murdered student's father and said his message was that peace and tolerance should prevail despite the horrific incident.

"This incident was not just about the death of Mashaal. It was also the death knell of the message of Islam. We have forgotten our religion...we have forgotten our values and decency," the young Nobel Laureate said, not mincing any words.

Yousafzai said Pakistanis need to study their religion carefully because it preaches tolerance and peace.

"It is the right of every Pakistani to live safely and peacefully. If we keep wantonly murdering people... no one is safe," she said.

Yousafzai concluded by urging Pakistani lawmakers and all political parties to not allow such incidents to happen and to bring justice to Mashaal's surviving family.

Hahaha, what? She's so anti-Pakistan that she spoke against an incident where a man was beaten to death naked. How dare she? She ruined the image of Pakistan which would have otherwise been associated with scholars, innovation and religous tolerance.

It's ridiculous that still a large number of people think that malala is anti Pakistan. Pakistanis are so deep into their slumber that whosoever bring out the reality of their banana republic, is labelled as anti Pakistan or committing blasphemy. What a joke of a nation we are.

A question to those who consider Malala as anti Pakistan. Name 10 instances over the last year where Pakistan/Pakistanis were associated with something good and not with religious intolerance and terrorism? Pakistanis have lied to themselves so much that they themselves can't even see the truth anymore.

Masala is quick to give her opinion everytime such an incident takes place, but you never see her condemning the war against terrorism which is responsible for all the extremism and intolerance in the Muslim World. The Number of Muslim's that are killed by Western Armies in name of spreading democracy, toppling stable government's and turn the countries into a messy civil war.

This is the related message

What a role model she is.

I wonder where the myth that Malala is anti-pakistan comes from? I too believed it for years until I had the brilliant idea of doing the research myself but even I dont remember why I believed her to be an American agent for so long. I think she's the only one in the past couple of years who has done something commendable for Pakistan.

She has never discussed any American war on terrorism at any point in her life so it's none of her concern. If she addressed this problem too then Pakistanis would be crying that why doesnt she address the water shortage in the country.

So all intolerance in the muslim world is due to war by americans? I wonder how badly the JI students and Mumtaz Qadri were influenced by the American wars that they decided to take lives of their countrymen? The terrorism in muslim world is not an external problem but an internal one.

I honestly don't see what the problem is...seems criticism is deemed as anti-Pakistani...if anything shes more pro-Pakistani than people like yourself because she's actually discussing the improvement of the country and highlighting it's problems...

That of course if you actually see the lynching as a problem?...or have a problem with facebook being used to weed out blasphemers...

Malala spoke about this in front of the POTUS's face in the White House.

Good. If Pakistan insists on being stuck in the 7th century, people like her need to speak up and publicly call the nation out on its BS. Good on her for not sitting down quietly.

Disgraceful post

Malala is 100% correct. People like you are the problem..not Malala.

Pakistani logic: Doesn't matter if we lynched a guy in public, but Malala shouldn't have talked about it since it sends an anti-Pakistan message.

its unbelievable that i was having a huge argument about malala with a guy graduated from arguably the top pakistani university.

I was arguing with a former University classmate, now a Daactar Israr follower. He was parroting the allegation usually leveled against Malala: that she "maligns" Pakistan.

I asked him if Pakistan being maligned hurts him. Naturally, he said, since it was our country and we all love it. I asked him if any of the activities that his ilk did that were reported negatively in the international press also maligned Pakistan. Like the Mardan lynching, like Lal Masjid holding the capital hostage, like sectarian terrorists holding rallies et al.

That was different, he said. If something done in defense of Islam and the Prophet and the Sharia were reported poorly by the Zionist media, so be it.

So there you have it. Only certain people have the right to malign Pakistan. Lesser mortals shouldn't.

LUMS? Because that's tableeghia central and people with such a mindset aren't rare there. Back in 06-07 some guys accused a professor of blasphemy(she said something along the lines of god isn't omnipotent in a philosophy of freedom class) and it would have become a police case had she not been from the one country least likely to tolerate one of its citizens being charged with blasphemy of all things.
