A few numbers to digest:

Since September 2009, there have only been 2 occasions when a Pakistani batsman batting at the number 4 position has scored a ODI century.

The last time a Pakistani batsman scored a century batting at number 6 in a ODI was 2692 days ago in February 2014 when Umar Akmal made 102* versus Afghanistan.

The last time a Pakistani batsman scored a ODI century batting at number 5 was April 2017 when Shoaib Malik made 101* versus West Indies

You don’t get many players coming in at 6 scoring centuries, that too in an ODI. He’ll be back, the king will back on his throne.

Seems to have more pressing concerns with autograph hunters at the moment :)

Who are the two batsman to have scored centuries at no. 4?

I know one is Fawad Alam against SLin the 2014 Asia Cup. Is the other one Haris Sohail vs Australia in 2018?

Mohammad Rizwan, both in 2019.

Apart from that - a complete blank for 12 years.

No real surprise when you look at the quality of the batsmen. Pakistan has two genuine international class batsmen in Rizwan and Babar, and they are the ones who are scoring centuries. Fakhar has done in the past, but difficult to see him doing this in future against the best teams who have studied his game.

Yet rizwan still barely avgs 25 in odis...

He should either open or be dropped.. imam needs to go we have enough of his type of batsmen.

Rizwan only fits in the opening because of babar and saud.. need a busy batsmen at 5.

Rizwan should open the batting and also captain the team. Babar as specialist batsman is when he is at his best ever.

Rizwan is not genuine international class batsman

Indeed, the lack of quality amongst Pakistan's ODI batting line-up currently and in recent times is alarming. The cupboard looks bare, the players that are getting picked by and large are previous failures, the new guys have flopped. Worrying times.
