Pakistan's performance in the super-over against USA in the ICC T20 World Cup

It would have been better if Pakistan had lost in the final over. Pakistan only did more harm to themselves by dragging this match to a super over. No Test team should lose to an associate team when it comes to a super over. It is acceptable to have an upset in a T20 match, but if you drag a match into a super over (which means a second chance) and still lose pathetically, I think it is unacceptable.

Pakistan is officially a minnow as they have lost to Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and the USA in an ICC event.

People know my stance on Babar but mid off up is normal when bowling yorkers. Just bad bowling by Rauf there. Simple.

Captaincy was no that bad at the end of the match, especially in last 1 hour. Babar have more than 10 member's think tank sitting in dugout to develop strategies. There is clearly a grouping in a team, i think rizwan is trying best to become next captain

I was calling for Naseem over Amir because I feel he's a better death bowler but that's no excuse for the appalling over Amir bowled.

Funny comment amir Is the one who got pakistan back in the game otherwise pakistan lost it way back

Had harris not given a boundary or shaheen dropped a sitter in the last over we wouldn't have been playing the super over

Agree on this. Both Rauf and Shaheen had disastrous games with no redeeming qualities. Amir at least dragged Pakistan back into the game to a position where all Rauf had to do was not bowl full tosses or half volleys, which he proceeded to do.

100% true. Some of the excuses coming up here are laughable. Clear agenda based posting.

Most of the team is to blame for the match. However without a doubt Amirs bowling in the super over was one of the biggest bottle jobs in cricket.

You can't blame captaincy, team composition, etc on that over. You can't blame Babar for that over.

The lengths people will go to to try and justify an over full of pies, half trackers and wides is laughable.
Your making it out as if we played Australia or india And the game got to the super over and we lost

This was USA we played

The game should have been won by the 15th over and we should have bullied USA just like how England bullied us last week

But no we lost because of amir

It's embarrassing the game actually went to a superover vs USA

Do you think he bottled it or not?

Do you think shaheen naseem or rauf would have won it for pakistan?
I don't know why you are so reluctant to answer the question.

Haris had already bottled the final over. Shaheen or Naseem wouldn't have done a worse job than Amir. 19 runs against in one over and being unable to land the ball is ridiculous.

Caught some highlight of the delay in pakistani bats coming out for super over. Man they were all sharting their pajamas - taange kaanp rahi thi. :ROFLMAO:

I don't think he did. He's played in far bigger games, why would he suddenly lose his bottle in this one? He just couldn't control the swing on the day for whatever reason. I see most of our pace bowlers were struggling the same way yesterday, Shaheen and Rauf as well. Naseem was the only one who wasn't bowling massive wides, and he looked like he was bowling at half pace.

He bowled well during the match and had decent control towards the end.

You would expect a premier bowler to be able to work out how to land the ball after having already bowled four overs.

Babar and Rizwan are still the best and most feared openers in T20 cricket.

Bobby even went past Kholi in the same match in terms of number of runs of a most significant but unknown stat.

A cake was culled in honour of Bobby for the same. :inti

The “USA won in the super over” is quite a flattering result for Pakistan to be honest.

USA were all over Pakistan with the ball and in the field, and the subsequent run chase was done in absolute cruise control, with only a couple of accurate death overs allowing Pakistan to sneak a tied game.

This should have been a thrashing by 7 wickets.

I don't expect anything from these Pakistan bowlers, I was highly critical of them in the PSL. If anything Amir was one of the better performers in that tourney, but like all Pakistan pace bowlers he has spells where he can't pitch it anywhere near the stumps. Don't ask me why but for all his other faults I never really considered Amir as a bottler.

When they showed his stats of most runs in T20s, i have heard Indian Hindi commentators asking where have he those runs. This is the first time i have seen any cricket commentator to question his feast. I think its time for babar to become just another average batsmen

Excellent point.

Pakistan cricket was exposed badly, even before the die-hard RizBar cult. Some of them were in an absolute state of shock last night when their two coveted heroes didn’t have the pads on during the super over. It was a betrayal of monumental standards.

Riz is supposed to be superman and Babar is supposed to be King. How did King and Superman just bail on the team like this? Against USA? Against a software engineer who plays cricket part time?

Hafeez particularly questioned the team’s body language and composure during both the 20-over game and the subsequent Super Over, suggesting that the USA effectively beat Pakistan twice in one day:

"Who was the best bowler? For me, it would be Naseem Shah and then Shaheen Shah Afridi. Amir was away from Pakistan cricket for four years. Don't try to compare international T20 leagues to international cricket. You didn't trust your main player and trusted someone who is making a comeback after four years."

"How did Pakistan lose not one, but two matches in a day. First we lost the 20-over game and then the super over. We understand you were nervous. It was a nervous batting innings, it was nervous bowling and fielding. I understand it in the 20-over game. But you couldn't control your nerves in a Super Over?"

icc should remove pak in tier1 teams list ..

Former captain Shahid Afridi said that Pakistan made a major blunder during their shocking loss to the United States. On his YouTube channel, he stated:

"They made a huge mistake by opting for Iftikhar instead of Fakhar to play the first ball of the super over. The left-arm fast bowler would have suited Fakhar because of the angle of the bowling. I don’t know who told Iftikhar to face the left-armer."

“Mohammad Amir bowled really well during the match and I thought that they will go with in the super over as well. But he conceded a lot of extras in the super over which also didn’t help Pakistan’s cause. He is experienced and knows how to bowl yorkers. The ball was reversing as well which is why I think he shouldn’t have given away so many runs.”

"In the first six overs, we didn't capitalise. Back-to-back wickets always put you on the back foot, as a batter you need to step up and build partnerships."

"We were not up to the mark in the first 6 overs with the ball. Our spinners also did not take wickets in the middle overs so these things cost us."

"All credit to the USA, they played better than us in all three departments. Little bit of moisture in the pitch, it was also two-paced. As a professional you need to assess the conditions."

Exactly when you have the 2 best batamens in the world the so called number 1 batsmen in the world you send out fakhar and iftikhar 🤣

Pakistan were almost timed out and you have to ask why.

There must have been some heated debate but I reckon Ifti wanted to redeem himself after his debacle performance in the main game, because for anyone watching on SKY, Babar's graphic popped up suggesting he was going to open with Fakhar.

Then there is the question why Fakhar didn't face first. Did Fakhar bottle it? Who made the decision and why?

Hopefully all will be revealed in due course.

The ultimate deceit

They have 4000 and 3000 T20i runs

How could they not put their hand up and take responsibility for this?

Were you the one not jumping up and down saying rizbar are the best we have and should open in powerplay

What decisions is there to make simple rizbar should have played the superover as they the only aggressive batsmen we have according to you

The heated debate was rizwan should have been in the middle with babar but both checked out

One has nothing to do with the other.

Nice profile pic by the way. Finally removed all doubt.
rather support arch rival india than the corrupt government of Babar along with his dosti yarri club rizwan, shadab naseem iftikhar, shaheen, rauf and the new addition fat boy azam

Pakistan should learn from India how to win super overs comprehensively.

India made a comeback from nowhere against Sri Lanka and utilized the condition quite well to clinch the victory.
