Because your best number 3 in the country would rather inflate his stats as an opener
We dont need a good no.3 batsman because our openers are high performing openers who are very consistent.
Fakhar Zaman plays at no.3.
A no.3 is important for those teams that do not have good openers where usually one opener gets out. We have seen our openers bat so well that they last more than the power play

Our high performing openers were watching most of the game in the dug out during the World Cup
Why should babar play at no.3 when he is doing great as opener? By playing at no.3 Babar will become limited and wont get the time to play the whole game.
If even after this afghan series people cant see we need babar and rizwan than really you guys are just blind critics

I'd have liked to see Saim open with Rizwan so we can have a l/r combination but Saim clearly isn't ready. Fakhar is also prone to getting stuck at the crease.
The reality is that we are a borderline associate nation without Babar and Rizwan.
We are in no position not to ask our best two batsmen to face the most balls.
The number 3 position is the not the biggest problem we have right now.

Because he is the captain and he should fix what is the issue in team . He won’t lose anything by batting at 3 . Fakhar and rizwan can open
Because the captain should do what's right for the team and not for himself ?
he is doing whats right for the team by batting as opener. If the captain bats at 3 and becomes more slower and not be able to perform than who will get blamed? the captain offocurse.
So why not bat as opener.
Anyways, 3 openers were tried and they all failed against Afghanistan. Haris has some exprience now, you can argue saim ayib is new but fakhar has done no wonders in the past as t20 opener.. Babar and Rizwan are here to stay as openers.

They had a poor start and had started performing as the tournament progressed. I recall Rizwan winning MoM in the semi-final and I'm certain one of the 2 probably has the most runs for Pak in the tournament. We have set such high expectations from them that even if they have an average tournament it seems like they're not performing

You dont break a well settled performing opening partnership you find another player that can bat at 3

You are not supporting Pakistan so why do you care? We lost the home series on much easier batting wickets against England with your Babar and Rizwan whilst Jos Butler rested and watched Phil Salt pump our bowlers

Fakhar is a prime example . With Rizwan and babar taking up a lot of balls on a lot of occasions Fakhar is coming in outside the power play which does not suit his style of play. The same can be said of Haris as well.
What we need is a shake up in the line up , and give someone the freedom like Fakhar to play his natural game with the shield of knowing we have a babar or Rizwan at number 3.
Fakhar is more than capable of playing @25/140 SR and the day he scores big he will win you the game .
We have the likes of Haris as well. The kind of game him and Fakhar play will not yield the consistency of a babar but the impact will be much more .

Fakhar averages 21 he is too inconsistent as an experienced batsman you expect better from him apart from the innings vs Australia in the semi final in 2021 he’s been failing mostly.
However in T20s you can have inconsistent batsmen but some improvement is required from Fakhar.

Positions 3, 4, 5 and 6 are up for grabs. BabRiz opening pair isn't going anywhere especially after playing with an SR of 140+ in PSL. Abdullah ain't T20 material, Saim and Haris aren't consistent (even in domestics), Tayyab has Asad Shafiq syndrome and Azam is unfit. Will still continue with Saim, Haris and Tayyab though.

The Babar at number 3 in T20I cricket debate will become more heated based upon this stat.
Agreed with Babar and rizwan these 3 should be our top 5.

No let’s try Fakhar, Shan, Saim, Harris, Iftikhar, Tayyab, Khushdil, Nawaz Sharif, Choudhary Pervez Elahi in this position
But Babar should be our opener. Averages matter as an opener
Definitely and fakhar should be in the squad but not sure if he will make the xi if Saim does open in the next series.

Babar isnt going anywhere You dont uncover one hole to replace it with another
