Pakistan's next series is against SL their is still alot of time left but what do u think will be the squad assuming this series will take place in Pakistan or at least 1 match in Pakistan.

My squad for that series is

1. Imam
2. Shan(c)
3. Azhar
4. Babar
5. Haris

9. Yasir Shah
10. M Abbas
11. Shaheen Shah

Reserves
1. Abid Ali
2. Usman Salahudin
3. M. Amir
4. Asad Shafiq

Honestly can't wait to start following some test cricket again. Feels like ages since the last international test match.

My XI for SL:

Imam
Shan
Azhar(willing to give him another chance)
Babar
Haris
Shafiq(going to have to give him another chance)
Mohammad Rizwan
Zafar Gohar
Yasir Shah
Mohammad Abbas
Hasan Ali (this one is risky seeing how he played in the world cup but he did do really well vs NZ last year)

My squad :

1. Abid

3.Haris
4.Babar (c)
5.Usman Saluhuddin
6.Saad Ali
7.Rizwan (wk)
8. Zafar Gohar
9. Yasir Shah
10. Abbas

I'm sorry but Azhar and Shafiq do not deserve any more chances. These.clowns have averaged 28 or so since misbah and younis retired, and have failed to take responsibility in many games. Best get rid of them and groom some new batsmen.

I don't want to see shafiq near the side he is extremely inconsistent & i also think hassan ali's confidence is very low atm so he should play at least 1 full domestic season.

Azhar has had a horrible.season in country cricket currently. He is just past it. Same with Shafiq. Agreed.

Besides salahuddin, is their any other upcoming batsman pak did not try out who is in the first class scene and is shouting to be picked?

Shafiq definitely shouldn't play, but the team doesn't have the guts to kick him out. For Azhar I'm unsure.

Given the recent growth of guys like Imam, Haris and Babar Pakistan definitely need to be moving on swiftly from Shafiq and Azhar. Experience isn't an excuse anymore and we all saw what happened in the WC when players are picked purely on 'seniority'.

At least one slot in the team needs to be allocated to a upcoming young batsmen for the next 2 years otherwise Pakistan cricket will not be moving forward.

Fawad Alam. Given he's probably one of the fittest players in Pakistan it still isn't too late for someone to give some justice to Pakistan's undisputed top domestic performer over the last 10 years.

Shaan masood
Abid ali
Saud Shakeel
Babar Azam
Haris sohail
Talat Hussain
Sarfaraz
Yasir shah
Shaheen afridi
Zafar Gowhar
Husnain
Reserves
Asad shafiq
Amir
Salahuddin
Umar khan

Good side the only change I would make is a left arm pace bowler in the form of Amir or Afridi.

Imam ul-Haq
Shan Masood
Azhar Ali
Haris Sohail
Asad Shafiq
Babar Azam
Sarfraz Ahmed*+
Bilal Asif
Hasan Ali
Yasir Shah
Mohammad Abbas
---------------------------------
Abid Ali+
Usman Salahuddin
Mohammad Amir
Zafar Gohar

Terrible squad it's what we lost with to nz and sa. Why would we stick with that shambolic squad?
As Einstein once said, insanity is trying the same thing over and over again, while extra expecting chsnge. This is insanity.

Amir is there as backup pacer.

As much as we want this to happen, Azhar and Yasir are not being dropped. And Sarfraz will not be sacked as captain. I'm being realistic.

Imam, Azhar and shafiq shouldnt be in test squad but they wont get dropped. SL will beat Pak in UAE again.

Test cricket more than any other format requires experienced players. Azhar, Asad, Sarfaraz, Yasir and Amir provide that core unit of experienced players around whom a younger side can be built. When Pakistan became the number 1 ranked side we hand the Misbah and Younis. And despite silly calls for Misbah to be removed as captain the management persisted and that persistence was rewarded.

We are in a similar situation now and we cannot discard the investment we have made in our experienced players. Otherwise we will forever be chopping and changing.

By doing away with the experienced players you will also expose the younger players to the most difficult format and results will not be pretty.

I say again, Pakistan needs stability in leadership, selection and support staff. The moment that these players know that they can play without fear of being dropped that confidence will be reflected in their performances. History tells us one thing and that is that Pakistan play their best cricket when players are free to express themselves without fear of failure. This happens when we have stability and consistency. Having watched Pakistan play for more than 40 years, the periods where we have been at our best was when we had the two attributes of stability and consistency.

So with the SL Tests postponed to December, Pakistan's next Test assignment is the Australia tour.

Will be interesting to see the team composition going forward...

I'll admit I don't know a lot about Pakistan cricket as I'm an Indian but here are my 2 cents -

Imam
Shan
Azhar
Babar
Haris
Asad
Sarfraz (c)(k)
Shadab
Zafar Gohar/Raza Hasan
Shaheen
Abbas

Tough to beat this team in UAE. When touring abroad, include Naseem Shah in place of left arm spinner.

1. Imam
2. Masood
3. Haris
4. Babar
5. Azhar
6. Asad (c)
7. Rizwan
8. Yasir Shah
9. Abbas
10. Mir Hamza
11. Riaz/Hasan/Shinwari

Not ideal but see how Asad and Azhar bat together, see if they can use their experience to make a partnership. Azhar's reflexes have slowed, I don't think he'll last long at the top anymore, Haris and Babar have more chance scoring up there and are better against pace. We can give Asad and Azhar another chance, because we're playing with 5 other inexperienced batsmen, no need to add another right now, let's see if they can come good/experience comes useful. Rizwan will also be a new addition, Sarfraz should be dropped.

Asad or Shan for captaincy. If Shan has an amazing tactical mind give it to him. Otherwise Asad's probably the choice as Shan hasn't even cemented his place in the side, it's very hard to give a man captaincy when he averages 26.

I'd play Abbas and Mir Hamza as they'll focus on tests and remain injury free. Then the fast option should be someone like Hasan/riaz/Shinwari. Maybe even rotate them. Shaheen has hardly any first class experience, and you don't want to risk injuries with his build, just let him play LOI for now and maybe the odd English test. Would try Shinwari out first.

Bilal probably still deserves a few more games as 2nd spinner after his initial success. Though I'd bring up Zafar Gohar pretty quickly if Bilal doesn't succeed.

That would be my lineup for Tests against SL.

For the Australia series we need some tall overs and an all rounder. Hopefully the FC season throws someone up.

Azhar and Asad, your captain, hiding at 5 and 6?!! :))) What is the point of their experience if you’re going to play them at those spots. Surely we’re better off investing in someone else at those numbers than give the senior pros an easy ride. Abit of a joke that.

seriously shaheen and shinwari have to start. wahab or hasan backup.

Bowling lacks depth imo. Need a better alternative to hasan for overseas tours.

Oh no... Azhar Ali starting against a dangerous Australia attack

I see a similar series for him that he endured in SA.

Azhar ( he will be the captain with Misbah as selector)
Imam ( need him to come good as he is only viable option now to succeed in both formats as an opener)
Shan
Haris
Babar (vc)
Umar Amin
Sarfraz Ahmed
Shadab for SENA test and Yasir for UAE
Zafar gohar ( SENA test shud replace with another pacer)
Abbas
Shaheen

Reserves:
Abid
Usman
Shinwari
Hamza

Ok I am absolutely shocked no one has even mentioned Farad Alam!

Here is my team

Imam
Shan
Harris
Babar
Fawad
Shafiq
Rizwan
Yasir
Zafar
Shaheen ( only one not sure about )
Abbas

Fawad Alam is too old to start now, better give chances to usman salahuddin, saad ali, saud shakeel, umar amin or even umar akmal

My XI for the UAE

1. Imam - should be given more oppurtunities as he has improved his game and he potential.
2. Shan - Also should be given a few more oppurtunities as it seems like he has improved his game.
3. Haris
4. Babar
5. Asad/Usman Salahuddin
6. Rizwan
7. Shadab - I think he can be a very good batsmen, he has good technique, and whenever he is given an oppurtunity he performs and he has even saved a couple of matches for us.
8. Zafar Gohar/ Kashif Bhatti (I haven't seem much of Kashif but his stats are outstanding and he seems like a decent batsman, so I'm not sure of him)
9. Yasir - Give him a couple of more chances, otherwise Shadab can take over as leg spinner in the UAE.
10. Abbas
11. Hassan - He has done well in the UAE and the conditions suit him, they shouldn't waste Shaheen there. If Hasnain or Naseem Shah have a good QeA trophy then they can replace Hassan as they are the types of bowlers you need in the UAE.

I'm not sure who would be captain though.

My XI outside Asia

1. Imam
2. Shan
3. Haris
4. Babar (VC)
5. Asad
6. Rizwan
7. Shadab
8. Faheem - hasn't done that badly in tests and his batting is more useful in tests.
9. Shaheen
10. Abbas
11. ? We'll find out in QeA trophy, lets hope One of the new fast bowlers does well, especially Naseem Shah or Hasnain as such a bowler is a must for all teams, which Archer is showing at the moment.

Shan might be a decent leader but I don't think it is a good decision to give someone who hasen't cemented his spot in the team captaincy.

I hope Umer khan has a good season too, he genuinely turns the ball and seems to have a good cricketing brain.

For SL

1) Imam - for sure.. he needs an extended run
2) Shaan - again another one who should be given the nod
3) Harris Sohail - Our best batsmen after Babar 4 now , personally think he will take over Babar in a year
4) Azhar Ali - I think this is best place for him to bat now. needs a last chance
5) Babar Azam - Easily our best batsmen now ... needs to move up to no4 in a year
6) Asad Shafiq - Really hate this dude but with 1,2,3,5 being inexperienced, shld give him a last chance
7) Sarfraz - Not sure why people think he will be dropped ... lol he is staying ..i would have rizwan but...
8) Yasir Shah - obvious
9) Bilal Asif - unfortunatly looks like he will play .. no1 else is being talked about, would want Umer Khan
10) Shaheen Shah Afridi - needs to go full throttle
11) Abbas - Ofcourse

For tests:

Imam
Shan (VC)
Haris
Babar (VC)
Rizwan/Saad Ali
Sarfaraz (C) (+)
Shadab
Umer Khan/Zafar Gohar
Yasir
Shaheen/Hasan (Hasan hasn't done badly in UAE tests)
Abbas

We must play 3 spinners and 5 bowlers to be attacking. The top and middle order should be backed by Misbah and so should Shadab as his batting is good enough for the 6 or 7 position at this stage.
