Since 2008, Pakistan have lost 32 out of 44 ODIs against top ranked teams in ODIs in the adopted home of UAE.

It looks like it'll be 33 defeats from 45 tonight.

Sarfaraz has been captain for all those games?

Or do Pakistan have a poor record in UAE in general?

On the match thread people think Sarfraz will make a difference.

My issue is with the lack of specialist spinners being selected.

It’s mainly due to poor selections. We just got done playing psl yet these players don’t know all matches teams were chasing and who were our best bowlers all tournament.

Pre-2009 it was the reverse swing, dry conditions and spinners that used to win games in uae for Pakistan. Due to two ball rule, lack of quality spinners, we have this issue. We had akmal who used to win games alone, but then he had no support from fast bowlers as they weren’t good enough or lacked reverse swinging capabilities in these lush conditions.

I blame them. They haven't shown an iota performance but have a lot to talk about when it comes to writing columns or giving interviews.

Well, Malik's captaincy is a disaster so Sarfaraz is a definite upgrade.

Aus chased down 280 comfortably the other day so Pakistan should have definately bowled first as they have no clue about setting targets.

why is bangladesh considered a top ranked side and sri lanka with mahela, dilshan and sangakkara isn't?

anyhow it's only 1 odi vs bangladesh so i'll let it slide. :inti

Does this include Misbah and Afridi's time too?

If yes then shocking as we had a decent spin attack back then with Ajmal, Afridi and Hafeez but both were poor captains so yeah maybe possible.

What's confusing though is we got the ball to reverse the most during the Champions Trophy under the two new ball rule.

Not the right mindset.

From coaches, captains, batsmen. Contrary to the current popular belief, it's batsmen who have been losing us matches.

Can't make 300+ on a belter!

Also, Azhar Mahmood is ruining our bowling.

Mickey Arthur the overall strategy/tactics/selections.

Issue is, in UAE, the field is lush and there is less natural scruffing of the ball.
That is not the case in England. Though there are lush outfields in England, the pitch at times is hard and can scruff up the ball easily. Once you maintain the shine on one side of the ball, you can start reversing in England as early as the 21st over (with the two new ball rule).

World class batsmen like Sharma, Buttler, etc. will always find a way to score match-winning centuries in the UAE. It is only Pakistani batsman who hide behind the slow pitches excuse.
