Panamagate Case: Supreme Court disqualifies Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in unanimous verdict

Yes of course this is Nooni propaganda, so why don’t Pervez Khattak and Imran Khan come out with the actual bill of the refreshments, showing everyone why the 20 crore bill for refreshments is nonsense?

Except the only differences is, most of Imran khan’s allegations against PML-N are backed by proof. I’m just having a difffiuclt time understanding your blind support for a party and it’s members that have looted this country to its core for decades.

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz met their counsels at Adiala jail today (Saturday).

The legal team comprising Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris and Maryam’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz met the duo and Maryam's husband Captain (retd) Safdar Awan at the Adiala jail, where the three are currently serving their prison sentence following their conviction in a corruption reference.

According to sources, key legal matters were discussed during the meeting.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Advocate Pervaiz said, "Mian Sb is determined and hopeful."

"The former premier feels he was not granted the facilities that he should have been given," he added.

Speaking about Capt (retd) Safdar, Maryam's counsel said, "He is a heart patient and his medical records are available."

"Capt (retd) Safdar does not want to seek any medical facilities beyond those offered in the jail manual."

Further, Advocate Pervaiz said, "Maryam does not want to avail better facilities."

On Thursday, a pre-arranged meeting between the lawyers and the father-daughter duo was cancelled by authorities at Adiala jail.

Haris and Advocate Pervaiz were notified via phone that their meeting had been cancelled upon arriving at the jail on July 19.

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison and slapped a £8 million fine while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2 million fine in the Avenfield corruption reference by an accountability court earlier this month.

He was involved in some corrupt practices so according to law his case was sent to judicial council but guess what to save his back he recorded a video blaming ISI for pressurizing judiciary to divert attention and now all of a sudden fake liberals joined his bandwagon and he is their darling now. He was their biggest target when he was hearing blogger case and had soft views about Mumtaz Qadri

Person can be racist and religious nut and he still is, but can still spill beans about Army because he has worked with them. Insider job always looks bad.

Reality is there is no credibility of both Army and Judges in Pakistan. They cannot be trusted, they have poor track record. But when they have little fights, it’s amussing 😉

So when NS thanks the judiciary for ousting the previous PM it’s all good but when it happens to him it’s all a conspiracy?

If only PP would give me a swear pass for just one day i’d able to properly express what all PMLN and PPP supporters are..

Just to be clear I don't give a **** About NS or IK or Zardari, my main problem is with Army. We cannot solve anything by focusing on Politicians, its like you focus on councilors...They are all irrelevant and reduced to gali/nala level of politics...Which I have no interest in...

First we have to fix the Army problem. Politicians are no where near as crocked as Army is, problem is that here there too much censorship like in rest of the Bubble we called Pakistan. You cannot have open discussion on real culprit, that's what is the point of keep discussing petty stuff low level **?? - Keep doing that for next 20 years, it has no bearing on Pakistan unless you solve the Military Problem :acp

Well unless you have a mass uprising against the army which will only lead to a bloodbath and death of innocent civilians then really the only way to change this is by electing someone different.

A party that has set out to eliminate corruption and to make institutions independent...

So the choice is quiet simple really.
A. Revolution against the army which the people cannot win.
B. Appoint a party that was propt up by the army and have destroyed the economy and looted billions from the poor.
C. Elect a party that has never governed before but stands for eradicating corruption,
Investing in schools and hospitals and having a merit based system rather then one based on bribery and nepotism...

I think it’s quiet simple.

This is also the right way to bring about change within the army itself. A prospering and educated populace is one that has the ability to keep the army in check.

And who do you expect to solve this problem?

A politician who has people's support and how do you expect to change that by increasing literacy rate, equal and proper education, adequate healthcare system, and equal and just laws for everyone.

whatever problem you have stated, the only solution to that is political, so when you say you do not care about any politics then you are just harping out what you have heard among adult having conversation while you are there.

Have identified a problem but your incapability to provide a solution shows you do not have much insight.

Jail doctors request authorities to shift Nawaz from Adiala to hospital

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Doctors have requested authorities to shift former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to hospital from Adiala jail, citing his ill health.

Dr Azhar Kiani and Dr Hamid Sharif Khan, who carried out the medical examination of the PML-N supremo, requested that Nawaz Sharif be shifted to a cardiology institute in Rawalpindi.

Interim Punjab Law Minister Zia Haider Rizvi, while confirming the development, said authorities have not received a formal application in this regard.

He added that the interim provincial government will constitute a medical board after receiving the application and would take measures suggested by the board.

Rivzi said the government decided to provide air conditioners to Nawaz Sharif in Adiala on humanitarian grounds , adding that such facilites were not mentioned in the Prisons Rule.

Nawaz was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court over his family’s purchase of luxury apartments in London, whereas, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The former premier’s son-in-law was also sent to jail for one-year on the same charge.

The Avenfield reference is one of the three corruption references, filed by the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), which disqualified Nawaz Sharif, ousting him from premiership and finding him guilty in the Panama Paper case verdict.

The verdict came at a time when Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif were in London to see Begum Kulsom Nawaz Sharif who has been undergoing treatment for cancer.

Another drama, just like his fake heart surgery. What a sher this guy is. Mian

Can we please not make fun of a person's illness? A humble request.

PMLN supporters, leaders and including NS and Maryam made fun of Musharraf when he had this back bone issue. When you do thing like this you should be prepared to face them in future without crying even if you are really suffering.

Thread is made in poor taste tbh, what's the point of this?

Its about the rich faking illness when they have to suffer the consequences of their criminality. Do you think NS is ill? Ďo you think he had open heart surgery in London and it left no scars?

That's the easiest way of getting out of jail and be in the comfort of hospital. Remember he had a though check up 10 days ago and he was fine.

I apologise, didn't realise you knew everything about NS' health and have updates on his "condition". Please ignore that post.

If every time a rich or famous person is jailed and they fake illness and get a pliable medical board to give certificates, nobody suffers the consequences of their criminality. Maybe its worth for you to read up on AZ and his "illness".

It's not whether I actually believe that he's ill or not. It just that there seems to be a lot of people who don't know for sure and talk like political experts on their moral high horse.

Isnt it amazing that those people i mentioned in the op, fell ill as soon as they went to prison and had miraculous recoveries when they left. I am no political expert but all these fake illnesses lead to the poor paying a heavy price for their crimes whilst the bigger the criminal, the lesser the penalty.

Fake illness. The doctor who certified him, his son is on the PMLN ticket in Pindi. :))

PIMS team says Nawaz to be treated at Adiala: prison sources

A medical board from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Monday decided against moving ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif out of Adiala Jail and into a medical facility.

When Nawaz fell ill on Sunday night, a medical team led by retired Gen Azhar Kiani had suggested that he be shifted to a hospital to be treated for dehydration that might lead to heart and kidney complications.

Gen Azhar Kiani, the chief executive officer of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and former commandant of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology, was also the physician of the former president, retired Gen Pervez Musharraf.

It was reported on Sunday that Nawaz's heartbeat was irregular due to dehydration and that there was presence of urea in blood, which might affect his kidneys.

However, in a preliminary report compiled after a complete medical checkup on Monday, members of the PIMS board decided that Nawaz will be given medical treatment within the confines of Adiala Jail.

Sources within the prison management said that the course of treatment for Nawaz will be chosen after the results of all his medical tests are received.

So NS loses round 1 but you dont survive in politics for 35years if you dont have plan B, C etc. Every 2 months there will be an attempt to get him out on one pretence or another.

Well it's clearly a big issue, but imo people shouldn't assume the same for everyone.

Agreed but if NS or any mentioned in the op were poor guys done for stealing, would they have medical boards trying to find ways off getting them out? You and i know that this is a way for the rich not face punishment.

Probably not, but that goes with the fact that he's a big public figure. They always will find it easier in a situation where they feel they shouldn't be in prison due to their "health".

Nawaz sees election as ‘stolen’, results as ‘tainted, dubious’

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: In his first reaction over Wednesday’s elections, Nawaz Sharif, the incarcerated leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), alleged on Thursday that the polls had been “stolen”.

Talking to visitors in Adiala Jail, the former prime minister warned that the “tainted and dubious” results of the elections would cast a bad impact on the country’s politics.

Thursday was a meeting day for Mr Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired Capt Muhammad Safdar, who were imprisoned after they were convicted in the Avenfield properties case.

PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, Khyber Pakhtun*khwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Junaid Safdar (son of Maryam Nawaz), Mahnoor Safdar and Meharun Nisa (daughters of Ms Maryam), Raheel Munir (son-in-law of Ms Maryam), former federal minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Mussadiq Malik and PML-N media coordinator Muhammad Mehdi were among those who called on Nawaz Sharif and his daughter.

A number of party leaders, who visited the jail, quoted Mr Sharif as saying that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had been “made victorious” in KP despite the PTL-led previous government’s bad performance in the province.

Mr Sharif, they said, also expressed his reservations over the elections results in Faisalabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi, and said that the PML-N candidates (in these areas) were in very stable position but they had been declared defeated candidates.

Mr Sharif was of the view that Imran Khan’s position was much weaker this time than in 2013 when last general elections were held.

The personal physician of Nawaz Sharif also visited him in the jail. However, Tariq Fatemi, former adviser to the prime minister, and Absar Alam, former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, were not allowed to meet the PML-N supremo.

The jail authorities, following the orders of the superintendent, brought the detained trio from their cells to the conference hall where they met the visitors.

Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif also held a one-on-one meeting lasting more than half an hour, later to be joined by Maryam Nawaz, sources said. During the meeting, post-elections scenario of the country came under discussion.

Talking to Dawn, the PML-N leaders said that no facilities were being provided to Nawaz Sharif in the jail as they met him in a room with no air conditioner while an air conditioner was running in the waiting room for the visitors.

The health of the former prime minister was not good, they said, adding that Nawaz Sharif did not make any comment about his health but his condition was obvious from his physical appearance.

Meanwhile, a team of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), which was to examine Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, had to wait for over one hour and finally returned to the hospital as Mr Sharif was meeting his family members. The team has been mandated to submit a report on whether Mr Sharif should be shifted to hospital or not.

A member of the team, requesting anonymity, said that during a visit on Wednesday, they had advised Mr Sharif to get his ultrasound done but he postponed it to the next day.

“On Thursday we reached Adiala jail and requested the administration to allow us to examine Mr Sharif and conduct his medical tests,” he said. “However we were told to wait as Mr Sharif was meeting his family members. We waited for more than an hour and finally told the Pims administration that we were not being allowed to examine him and returned after getting approval from the administration,” he said.

A senior doctor of Pims, Dr Zulfiqar Ghouri, said the team would again be sent to Adiala jail on Friday (today) to examine Mr Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif seriously ill, may be shifted to Pims

Incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is serving a 10-year jail term after being convicted for owning assets beyond income in the Avenfield reference, may be shifted from Adiala Jail to Islamabad's Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) after developing serious cardiac complications, well-placed sources in the jail told DawnNewsTV on Sunday.

Earlier today, Dr Naeem Malik, head of the Pims cardiology department, suggested that authorities shift Sharif to the hospital as his blood tests showed clotting which, according to the doctor, was an alarming sign considering his medical history. The PML-N supremo lives with diabetes and has also undergone bypass surgery. He currently takes medication for his heart condition, cholesterol and diabetes.

Sharif's personal physician reached Adiala Jail on Sunday evening to examine him. After the examination, it will be determined whether he will be shifted to Pims or not.

Last week, the former PM was suffering from dehydration and his blood urea content was 50 per cent higher than it should have been. A medical team also recommended that he be shifted to the hospital as his heart beat was not normal and the presence of urea in the blood may affect his kidney.

However, Sharif refused to be moved to a hospital and insisted that medical treatment be provided to him in prison.

According to jail sources, the doctors today advised moving Sharif to the critical care unit as he has been suffering from acute pain in both his arms, likely due to lack of adequate blood circulation.

After the doctor's examination, jail authorities contacted the caretaker government to apprise it of the development. The provincial government had no objections towards moving Sharif to the hospital, but placed responsibility for his security on the Islamabad police, since he had been convicted by an accountability court and his security fell into the jurisdiction of the capital force.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around the jail. Security personnel have been deployed around its premises and the media have been advised to steer clear of the premises. Special arrangements have also been made at Pims.

Imran wishes ailing Nawaz a speedy recovery

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has prayed for the speedy recovery of ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, according to a party statement on Sunday.

The statement comes after the caretaker government decided to shift Sharif to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad after irregular ECG and blood reports.

The PML-N supremo’s health deteriorated in Adiala Jail – where he is serving a 10-year sentence handed down by an accountability court in connection with the Avenfield Apartments corruption reference.

Pims officials confirmed that jail authorities had asked them to make necessary arrangements to shift the former PM to the facility.

Consultants of various departments have been visiting the prison and examining the former premier on daily basis.

Officials said they have been asking him to move to hospital, but he was refusing.

A senior official said he is a heart patient and is now suffering from cardiac ischemia.

Security arrangements are being made in the hospital and he is expected to be shifted to presidential suite of the cardiac centre.

Pims’ Naeem Malik recommended moving Sharif to a hospital after his ECG showed irregular heart activity and the tests revealed blood clots. The deposed PM is also experiencing pain in both arms.

Back in 2013, when Imran fell from a stage during an election rally in Lahore, Nawaz had visited his political opponent in hospital where he stated that once Khan recovers, the two will play a “friendly match”.

Nawaz, while addressing reporters outside the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, had further stated that the two party leaders had reconciled their differences and intend to work together to rid Pakistan of its problems.

After former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was shifted from Adiala jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) due to health complications late Sunday night, the Islamabad chief commissioner declared the private ward of Pims' cardiac centre — where Sharif is being treated — as sub-jail.

A notification issued by the office of the Islamabad chief commissioner — dated July 29 — said that the capital city's administration had decided to declare premises of the Pims Cardiac Centre's private ward "as sub-jail for keeping Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, convicted prisoner in NAB case with immediate effect".

The private ward will serve as sub-jail until the time Nawaz is kept there for medical treatment.

The capital's police will provide security to the convicted three-time premier, according to the notification.

Following news of Nawaz's health complications, PTI chairman Imran Khan prayed for Sharif’s recovery and directed party workers to stay away from the premises of Pims and not to hold any demonstration against the ousted premier.

Dr Naeem Malik, head of the Pims cardiology department, had suggested that authorities shift Sharif to the hospital as his blood tests showed clotting which, according to the doctor, was an alarming sign considering his medical history. Sharif's personal physician also reached Adiala Jail to examine him. Later, a meeting between Sharif and his daughter Maryam and son-in-law retired Capt Mohammad Safdar took place to discuss his health condition.

Extraordinary security arrangements were made ahead of Sharif's arrival. Walk-through gates, CCTV cameras and mobile jammers were installed in the hospital, along with the deployment of security forces.

I think Mian sahib should retire from politics and try and rest..all this stress is not good for heart patients..

.... The PML-N supremo lives with diabetes and has also undergone bypass surgery. He currently takes medication for his heart condition, cholesterol and diabetes....
I thought that during the medical exam when he was sent to jail, no scars were found indicating his supposed open heart surgery? Or was that incorrect information?

ahaa thanks for explaining buddy

Hearing these rumors of him leaving for London in next few days based on medical condition.

I really hope considering there is nothing wrong with him that they don't allow him to go.

If he does, that would destroy PMLN credibility even more.

No one allowed to meet Nawaz Sharif at Pims

ISLAMABAD: A number of personalities, including former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Shahbaz Sharif, tried to meet former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the cardiac centre of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) since he was shifted to the hospital on Sunday night, but they were not allowed.

“We have nothing to do with it as the second floor of the cardiac centre, where Mr Sharif is under treatment, has been declared a sub-jail. People need to take permission from the jail administration if they want to meet Mr Sharif,” Pims executive director Dr Raja Amjad said while talking to Dawn.

Moreover, Pims deputy executive director Dr Zulfiqar Ghouri said Mr Sharif was not willing to be shifted to the hospital, adding that even after having been admitted he had been insisting that he be shifted back to the jail.

A large number of PML-N leaders and workers were present when Mr Sharif was shifted to Pims on Sunday night. They wanted to see their party’s supreme leader, but he was taken to the hospital from a separate entrance.

Just after that, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman reached Pims and sought to meet Mr Sharif, but he was not allowed. Similarly, a number of personalities also tried on Monday, but failed.

Strict security arrangements were made when the Pims management learnt that Shahbaz Sharif would meet his brother, but he was also not allowed.

A notification issued by the Islamabad district administration, and available with Dawn, states: “In exercise of the powers under Section 541 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1860, the Chief Commissioner has declared the premises of Private Ward, Cardiac Centre, Pims, as sub-jail for keeping Mian Nawaz Sharif, convicted prisoner in NAB case, with immediate effect and till the retention of the prisoner in Pims. The security will be provided by the Islamabad police.”

On Monday morning, Mr Sharif’s ECG, diabetes, blood and urine tests were conducted. According to reports, available with Dawn, the test results were normal.

Mr Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan also visited the hospital and checked him.

Patients have been suffering as a large number of officials of law enforcement and intelligence agencies have been deputed at the hospital and the movement of patients and their attendants has been restricted.

I've looked at the results and he seems healthy.

His liver, white blood cell count and platelets are all fine.

If tests show that there is no blood clot then he is fine.

If there is a blood clot they can put him on blood thinners in Pakistan, no need to go abroad.

oh ok thanks for the details

How's he so healthy for a Nihari guy?

I know Bro that's surprising isn't it.

But the guy is healthy nonetheless and should be shifted back to Adiala asap.

All this guy has done for the last 30 years is eat biryani and gosht. That's why he became so docile. Even though he was always docile.

Would an average prison get to see a Doctor, never mind leave the hospital? The chance of them going abroad would be lower than me winning the lottery.

Nawaz to be shifted back to Adiala

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is being shifted from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences to Adiala jail, Geo News reported Tuesday evening.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo is currently serving his prison sentence after being convicted in a corruption case by the accountability court.

Nawaz is being shifted as per his own wish, sources said. Strict security has been deployed to shift him.

Nawaz's health improving, say doctors

Earlier in the day, the doctors at PIMS had said that Nawaz Sharif’s health is improving.

Last night, Nawaz’s sugar, blood pressure and ECG (electrocardiogram) were not normal after which all the tests were conducted again today, the doctors had said.

PIMS Head of Cardiology Dr Naeem Malik along with his three-member team had conducted Nawaz’s check-up today.

Nawaz was shifted from Adiala Jail to PIMS’ cardiac ward on the orders of the caretaker government on Sunday.

The former premier was admitted to PIMS' coronary care unit on doctors' advice, who examined him after he complained of chest pain. A notification issued later declared the medical facility's cardiac ward as a 'sub-jail'.

Nawaz was arrested upon his arrival at the Allama Iqbal International Airport from London on July 13, wherefrom he was flown to Islamabad via a helicopter, and shifted to the prison. He is currently serving the sentence awarded to him in the Avenfield Properties case, alongside his daughter, Maryam, and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar.

'Maryam convinced Nawaz to be shifted to hospital'

A medical team which examined Nawaz on Sunday before he was shifted to the hospital, said that the former premier was adamant to stay in jail.

“Nawaz constantly refused to be shifted to a hospital and Maryam was specially called to convince him,” the doctors said during an informal talk with media men.

“Upon Maryam’s insistence, he agreed to be shifted to a hospital,” they added.

The doctors further said Nawaz’s condition “was not good at all” on Sunday.

“His ECG was not normal and a special heart test was conducted which was not normal either,” they added.

“There was a risk of heart attack as Nawaz’s cardiac enzymes were increased,” the doctors further said.

Stating that they were “extremely concerned” regarding his health, the medical team said, “We wanted to shift Nawaz to the hospital immediately.”
