Did anyone here try Paramounts Lebenese restuarant in Karachi? I think this the only authentic arabic resturant in Pakistan and in all of south asia. Even India does not have any real authentic arabic resturants

I have eaten at one of their Canadian chains.

Its alright I guess, not the best arab food I have had and not the worst.

I dont know if Pakistani chain would change the recipes to make it a bit more desi or not though.

No please dont. Desis ruin arabic food by making it desi, just doesnt make sense, leave somethings authentic

probably one of the worse Labenese/Arab restaurant to eat at. Have tried the one in Niagra falls, never going back.

You probably dont like real arab food. The one in Karachi has excellent reviews.

The Canadian paramounts are average at best. It's not the best authentic arab food you'll find in Canada. There are better places in Ottawa actually because of a fairly large Leb population there.

Yes but we r talking about pakistan. There is no real arabic resturant in Pakistan. All the shawarma places in Karachi or Lahore add desi touch, they are not authentic. Paramount is the only real one

I do, have had Arab food all over the world. I have never been to one in Karachi, so i can't say anything about it. But the one in Canada, at Niagra falls one, not a fan of it.

Once Arabic food gets established you would imagine the better places will emerge doing more authentic Lebanese food. Arabic food with a desi touch is just desi food in reality.

There are a few in my home town Hyderabad. Authentic ones run by real Arabs.

There are several Lebanese restaurants in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.

But he has been to India ,he already has mentioned India It's people, food in all his threads., please don't correct someone with so much preconceived judgment.

I have tried Paramount in Markham, Canada (near Markham Rd and 14th Ave intersection). Its good but I think there must be better Lebanese restaurants in Greater Toronto Area.

It's very average to be honest. Way overhyped. And from what I know it's Canadian anyway so you can hardly call it authentic Lebanese

I do enjoy this place called Ridaan Mandi house. Mandi is an Arab dish. Don't know how authentic it is but it is tasty and good value for money

It is over-priced and not even authentic Lebanese.

Yeah I have, originally it was made by a Lebanese guy who wanted the people of Canada to experience Lebanese food in a more posh environment (usually all you got was small sharwama shops). The guy then went to a franchise model and anybody could purchase a franchise and set up shop, alot of Pakistanis own Paramount since plenty of desi people frequent it. Personally I do not like it.

Mandi has become very famous in Kerala is what all my Mallu colleagues are saying. kaayal looks like everyone is discussing that here as well.

Syed1 not sure if you remember I asked you about Paramount an year ago and you thought then too it was meh, but seems like the opinion is very divided on it.
But as already acknowledged Mandi is what will be the next big like of Desis,it has picked up in India as well.

I have asked several of Indian friends here in Canada, who have lived in the Middle East, they all say that the Shawarmas and Arabic places are Indianized versions of arab food there. Even I did some searching on the internet on Arabic foods in Delhi and Mumbai, they all looked Indianized versions. Maybe there some real places, but not over all, same is true for Pakistan, everything is desified, except this Paramount restaurant I am talking about

True. There are a lot of Mandi shops here in the Malabar area with the traditional way of eating from a single large plate. There is also Kabsa rice, Alfaham chicken, shawarma etc. Most of these cooks learnt this from Saudi, UAE and then made popular here.

Mandi rice with chicken are even served in some of the weddings here. I do like to eat them once a while.

Most of the middle east immigrants are from Kerala especially malabar. You will see this Arabic food more here than anywhere else in India.

theres like 10 different mandi places opened up in past one and a half years in karachi

Has anyone tried the Lebanese restaurants in Islamabad? Are they genuine or desified? Heading to Islamabad in July.

Speaking of Mandi, I think it is just an inferior version of pulao. Quite a few Mandi places have popped in recent times, there is even one in Peshawar now.

Ya its 99% similar to Kabuli pulao, I think arabs probably learned it from central Asians at some point. The famous Bukhari rice dish in Mandi Restuarant is obviously central asian

Do they also cook this pulao under the soil like Mandi? Just curious...

Yes, its defn the next big import to desi land, and is catching up rather fast,I just heard it first time in last 3-4 months.

I remember visiting Pakistan many years ago and my cousins took me to this Arab restaurant called "Arabian nights" - it's apparently owned by an actual Omani guy.
