Not sure why you see him as a traitor. I see him as a kashmiri icon. Just like the many kashmiris who get selected for IAS every year. Or the girl who acted in the Dangal film. And many other people successful in Kashmir or outside it.

Different povs I guess. I would consider them the same even if they support kashmiri freedom struggle. I just see them as icons of inspiration for the youth in a region affected by violence and strife due to unfortunate circumstances. Would you rather them not be successful so that they remain loyal to the cause?

I am from kashmir and I agree with you. Anyone who plays for India doesn't mean he is not supporting the struggle of kashmiris for freedom.

Kashmiris have fought for India in Indo-Pak wars and there was never chaos because of this. Even now, the numbers from J&K who turn up to army recruitment rallies are very big.

If people don't care about Kashmiris joining the Indian army why would they be bothered about a Kashmiri playing for India against Pakistan.

Nevertheless, Rasool representing India on June 4th at Edgbaston vs Pakistan would certainly add some spice to the tie.

That has more to do with the unemployment in Valley. With no private sector existing here people have no option but to fetch any job.

I have played against parvaiz rasool.. we are from same district. What I find in him is that he is not the player of an international caliber.. He got recognized due to political support.. We have more deserving players than him in indian occupied Kashmir.. Anyway wishing him all the best

Rasool seems to have solid defense. Can nudge around for singles. Big shots does not seem to be his forte.

He is playing the wrong format for India. Our Test team spinner spots have way too many options. Ashiwn/Jaddu/Jayant/Kedar/Rasool/Chahal.... Just too many options.

Did not watch the match. Followed it on Cric Info. Bowled Ok. Nothing special. Got a wicket. a decent effort. Nudged around with the bat to give the strike back to MSD who sucked until the 20th over.

Wasn't exactly a flop, I think this is who he is. Seems like a reliable bowler if you are defending huge totals, and need an allrounder to go for 30 odd runs in his 4 overs. However, while defending small totals, bowlers like him will be a relief for the batsmen. Poses absolutely no threat if I am to judge based on what I saw.

I have mentioned this before. Rasool needs to develop some mystery deliveries if he wants a consistent run in Indian side.

Bowling orthodox flighted stuff will not work. If he is getting hit, he resorts to flat stuff which can be easily milked for 7 or 8 runs and over. Poses no threat with the ball. A decent bat who can hang around. Cannot hit big shots.

Parvez Rasool draws ire for chewing gum during national anthem

During the first T20I between India and England at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Parvez Rasool made his T20I debut and was handed a new number in typical fashion in a team huddle before the match got underway. As expected, it was going to be a big moment for the player from Jammu & Kashmir. But even before a ball could be bowled, he drew criticism from many on social media for allegedly disrespecting the national anthem.
The bowler was seen at ease during the national anthem and to make matters worse for himself, he was chewing gum at the time – something that didn’t go down well with many on Twitter who found it to be a disrespect to the national colours he was going on to represent.

Rasool was making his first appearance in India colours in almost two-and-a-half-years. His last match for the national team came against Bangladesh in an ODI in Dhaka that was played in 2014.
In the first T20 in Kanpur, India could only muster 147 when batting first and England found little trouble in reaching the small target with seven wickets to spare.

Rasool, on his part, would score five runs and pick up a solitary wicket while conceding 32 runs. He would strike with the wicket of Eoin Morgan but not before the England skipper had done the damage with 51 runs.

Don't jump the gun. The current govt just forces their publicity stunt of nationalism onto others regardless of Hindu,Christian, Muslim or Kashmir,Kerala ,Karnataka. Majority opposes this and so therefore don't just generalise
