PCB advertises for the position of Head Coach, Batting Coach & Bowling Coach

PCB can never be clean. 99% of our former players are corrupt and they are just after money without doing any thing.
Even Wasim Khan is not what we thought.

Ian Pont applied for Pakistan bowling coach

A typical unprofessional and corrupt PCB. Never disclose who has applied for coaching jobs and no reply to applicants for interview. They have already chosen 2 time failure coach Waqar. Is Wasim Khan really that professional?

@ Saj can you please follow up with PCB regarding transparency of coaching application.

Because all our formers want desi coaches so they can get these jobs without doing anything. For PCB performance doesn't matter but connection does.

True.

Connections > merit in Pakistan.

Sad think is Misbah without any sort of experience wants same amount of salary if not not more than a well and well known experience International coach.

Sad thing is not that Misbah is asking for the same salary as Arthur - it's the role of PCT Head Coach, so whoever qualifies for that deserves the amount.

Problem is, whom PCB is hiring as head coach. Here, what I see is that PCB is hiring someone less competent (As per their evaluation, otherwise they shouldn't have offered lower salary than someone they have sacked), and adjusting the salary, which is wrong way of hiring for HC. Ideally, they should look for the person they think is qualified enough and then negotiate salary to hire him. In that regard, if still Misbah satisfies PCB, he should deserve at least same salary like Arthur; or don't hire him at all.

They will never disclose who applied.

A few people have applied and never even got an acknowledgement from PCB.

That is not uncommon, I have applied for many jobs in the West where I never received an acknowledgement and some employers have even flat out told me that they reserve the right to decide who to respond to or not to respond to and if I never received a response or acknowledgement then I should have read the writing on the wall automatically.

Obviously for professionalism sake you should respond at the very least even if you are not interested in the application

Ravi Shastri gets paid $1,170,000 per year

The Australian head coach and the English head coach gets paid $550,000 & $520,000 per year respectively

In comparison the PCB offer of $220,000-300,000 per year is just not competitive enough. Need to increase this to $550,000-600,000 atleast.

Interviewing only one person for a job.......

Not an expert, but i feel Ian Pont is more suited for a role at NCA. Where he can work with young talent. Work on their actions before they make it to the main team. And He should be given salary same as bowling coach if not more.

Inzamam is the next batting coach

Have seen 2-3 reporters talk about this including Dr Nauman and Rashid Latif that PCB is trying to convince Inzi to become the batting coach of the Pakistani team. The deadlock atm is over his remuneration and his role/responsibilities and ofcourse if he is willing to work under Misbah and if Misbah will be comfortable with his presence

For god's sake PCB just PAY the man !

Would be a tremendous appointment.

Misbah is a professional guy, but it doesn't change the fact that Inzi kept him out of the team during his captaincy.

I would rather have Younus Khan for tests as a temporarily option. That's where our main issue is these days.

So it seems that Misbah is also the batting coach, as well as being Head Coach and the Chief Selector.

Misbah should not be the batting coach. Need someone who knows more about the fundamentals about batting. Would rather have Inzi as a batting coach.

some worrying aspects to the whole process as pointed out by Mohammad Haroon in his interview with us on

http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...lector-is-too-big-a-task-quot-Mohammad-Haroon

PakPassion.net: Was it disheartening to see someone like Misbah-ul-Haq with no real coaching qualifications being preferred over qualified candidates?

Mohammad Haroon: This has been a source of debate in many cricket playing countries, and many countries have found the right and logical answer to this question. In Pakistan, however, this is an ongoing debate and I am not sure how it will be resolved. To be honest, this whole method of advertising a post for a Head Coach in Pakistan to prove the credibility of the process whilst always having a candidate in their minds is not the right thing to do. PCB seem to go through the process but hire the person they had in mind before the advertisement was put out. Even Mickey Arthur was appointed based on a recommendation, but I do understand that sometimes this has to be done as people hiring international coaches don’t always have the right experience or expertise to select someone just on the basis of a CV. They prefer to have some recommendations so that they aren’t held hundred percent responsible if things don’t go right with the appointment. In this way, they will always have someone to blame to save their own reputations. I suppose the age old saying that success has a lot of fathers, but failure is an orphan hold true in this case. I have a feeling that with Misbah being brought in and given a lot of responsibility and God Forbid, if things don’t go right for Pakistan, the blame will be shifted to Wasim Khan so let’s see how this pans out.

PakPassion.net: Do you feel that such policies are discouraging qualified people such as yourself from applying for coaching positions for the Pakistan side?

Mohammad Haroon: Let me say that I applied for a coaching role in the PCB in response to an advertisement about 5 years ago and didn’t even receive an email acknowledgement of that application. There really then is no point for people such as me, regardless of how successful they are, to apply for a coaching position because chances of being even considered are minuscule. It's not just me but I know of many qualified domestic coaches who have been working in departments in the past and even have relevant international experience who have not been considered and instead someone inexperienced like Misbah-ul-Haq has been appointed with the idea that he will make things better for Pakistan cricket.
