PCB issues clarification on state of QEA pitches and selection for the ACC U19 Asia Cup squad

Clarification:

Pitches

Majority of the cricket grounds have been refurbished & pitches were replenished with new clay that needs proper compaction and time to settle down. Newly laid pitches always favor bowlers in the early season which is the case here.

Selection for ACC U19 Asia Cup

Selection criteria for U19 Asia Cup team was based on the performances of players in U19 domestic one day tournament. Players having better strike rates are preferred over players scoring in longer version of the game, who normally have lesser strike rates, as per universal norms of selection.

Then why not postpone the tournament if the pitches still need time to settle down. You have totally destroyed the premier tournament in Pak with everything going the bowlers way. Saad Ali might be the only bat averaging above 40 in this tournament.

It's not as if Pak has a busy schedule in Feb-March 2018. That would have been a better option.

Saad Ali had a tremendous season this time around. Should be definitely among the call ups considering the pathetic home test series we recently had.

Umar Amin also had a great season and should be a backup to Asad Shafiq in the test squad.

With these players together with Haris performing well in test circuit, I think Asad's days are numbered and frankly speaking even after 7 years of consistent investment he cant deliver then he will never deliver.

Ummm, PSL is in February-March 2018. Can't host a domestic tournament then.
