If the player wants to earn money playing sport, they take the vaccine. If they have some sort of objection to vaccines, respect their wishes & they can sit out while someone else plays. Easy.

Yes players will be getting the vaccine early. As will people who work for airlines or similar so they can get up & running. Neither are front-line medical or care staff.

People in other professions aren't being asked to enter isolation bubbles away from family for months on end, several times a year like cricketers are. That is very difficult & even damaging mental health-wise & for the family unit to do again & again for months (ala the Indian team). Not fair on the families who need fathers around as much as possible.

I'm not sure it makes sense. The vaccines offer the individual protection from the virus but doesn't entirely stop you catching or transmitting it to others.

Professional cricketers are very unlikely to be affected significantly by coronavirus anyway so having the vaccine shouldn't actually change anything at all.

I'm hoping PCB is aware of this and it means a relaxing of the bubble rather than doing away with it entirely.

This is not a medical journal where you would give a talk by posting reference to all trials and studies to make your point.

I have been treating covid patients in a tertiary care university academic center in USA for almost 10 months and have been trying to keep my self updated with all the information on daily basis, its part of my job.

Clinical research and participating in clinical trials is also part of my job.

Like all the other professionals, I'm very careful about not spreading any wrong or doubtful medical information .

Based upon best of my knowledge , there is no chance a fully vaccinated person can be a asymptomatic career for covid 19 infection . And there is none, not even a case report suggesting a vaccinated person caused the spread of covid infection anywhere in the world.

I can only give my opinion, not expecting everyone to accept that. Everyone has his own opinion and some are actively busy in "jihad" against the vaccine , hope they would stop that.

From the article you yourself qouted, it says substantially not fully. So, a vacinnated person can still spread the virus.

This is a fantastic result, don't get me wrong. Even better is the fact that this is happening even after a single dose and the hospitalization and severe cases and zero. It means that we will be able to drive the virus to the ground after the vaccinations reach a substantial amount.

But in no way does this mean that there won't be bubbles if players get vaccinated. There will be bubbles untill a significant percentage of the population has been vaccinated.

I don't think any of us are in a position to know whether governments will be asking players to go into bubbles after vaccination. It may well vary from country to country.

I do think boards will be vaccinating their players as quick as they can. I think it's good from the players perspective that the board is doing it's best to support their performance & safety.

Procuring what exactly? There are no details on what company the PCB are buying the vaccines from, I'm assuming they're going to get the Chinese vaccines and none of the SENA players would want to get those when they can get a Pfizer, Moderna or Oxford vaccine back in their home country.

Procuring what exactly? There are no details on what company the PCB are buying the vaccines from, I'm assuming they're going to get the Chinese vaccines and none of the SENA players would want to get those when they can get a Pfizer, Moderna or Oxford vaccine back in their home country.

But I guess the sinopharm or sino vac is not yet peer reviewed by any regulator worth their salt. But given the fact that millions of doses are used in South America, uae, Hungary and Serbia over many months its only a matter of time before we hear about its efficacy. All these vaccines are relatively new and imbued with political leanings so it obscures the issue somewhat.

I'm not doubting the possible efficacy of Russian and Chinese vaccines, I'm just saying as someone living in the west why would a player from one of the SENA countries willingly get those vaccines when they can get one from a western brand back in their home country? I can assure you they won't, more importantly if PCB wants it's players to travel freely then need to get the most widely accepted vaccine, it doesn't matter if Sputnik or CanSino are 110% effective, if those aren't being recognized by western govts then that won't help the visa process.

Russia is willing to get and us getting its vaccine on trial in any country. Its results in India are currently pending. I believe it will meet the criteria of most countries.

I don't trust the Chinese vaccine. Brazil has now ordered the Indian vaccine so has UAE. Iran too has approved the Indian vaccine. Its publication in a peer reviewed journal is pending. Its also holding a trial in usa.

Hopefully the players can get a proven vaccine.

KARACHI: Around 112 players, officials and organisers of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), including Australian cricketers Chris Lynn, Ben Cutting and Pakistanis Sarfraz Ahmed, Umer Gul, Sohail Tanvir and Muhammad Amir, opted for Covid-19 vaccination on Thursday, the PCB and health officials told The News.

“As many as 112 players, officials and organizers of different PSL franchises were vaccinated against Covid-19 at a vaccination centre established at Movenpick Hotel Karachi,” an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told The News on Thursday.

Interestingly, some female family members of the owners of different PSL franchises were also vaccinated while many, including some foreign and Pakistan players and officials, refused to get vaccinated against the Covid-19.

One of the leading Pakistani cricket players said many players were not convinced and added that around 188 or 190 players and officials refused the vaccine jab

but 112, including cricketers Muhammad Amir, Sohail Tanvir, Sarfraz Ahmed, Umer Gul, Umpire Ahsan Raza and others, got the vaccine. The player claimed that at least four foreign players and officials, including Australian players Ben Cutting and Chirs Lynn and Jason Pilgrim, also got vaccinated and added that even some female family members of the PSL owners were also vaccinated.

Sindh health department officials said they had set up a vaccination center at the Movenpick Hotel where most of the teams and officials were staying. “We told them that they would get the booster dose after 21 days and we would issue them a card, which would show at any adult vaccination center in the country after 21 days and they would get the second dose,” the official added.

I have yet hear about a serious covid 19 infection after a full dose of covid vaccine .

I have seen two cases so far who got the covid infection one 1-2 weeks after receiving their first dose of vaccine. Both of them had pre-existing condition with very low immunity and both improved and discharged from hospital. These kind of patients had very high probability of dying without the vaccine, even one dose saved their lives.

A young player has almost zero risk of getting sick from covid infection after receiving any of the approved vaccine available.

Well I guess it’s all irrelevant now. Psl is postponed so players can get vaccinated as much as they like. Don’t know when the next window will be to reschedule psl. To be fair it now makes sense to speed up vaccination of international sporting events just to bring some normality to the world. Whichever vaccine is available and works.

We just have to wait and see what the regulator says about sinovac and sinopharm.
