Peshawar Zalmi 2018 Squad and Discussion Thread

how on earth does Rikki wessels always get picked first :kk and now peshawar zalmi

There were better options in replacement draft:-
1. Jimmy neesham (New Zealand)
2. James vince (England)
3. George Worker ( New Zealand)
4. Sam northeast (England)
5. Daniel Bell Drummond

Neesham is more of an all rounder PZ couldnt have gone for him, while Wessels has been playing T20 leagues pretty well recently, he place BPL, Natwest and has pretty decent stats to back him. He also can open the innings.
 
Happy for Umaid Asif, he performed really well in national T20 however, age is not his plus.

Dawson is meh... Malan and Afridi both will be missed a lot by Zalmi.

Tamim and Shakib will leave because their tri series will start from 8 March.

Bravo is a shadow of his former self.

Wessels, Fletcher are also meh players.

Lewis is the biggest loss for them.

Don't know too much about Ibtisam but touted as a talented youngster from the emerging category. Anyone with more info, feel free to chime in.
 
Their new kit looks similar to Quetta Gladiators. Should have kept it yellow.

Its their practice kit (The new trend supposedly being followed by some teams).

Their main kit is still yellow.

If I am correct he is a young leg spinning all rounder.

Dwayne Smith can be a surprise package this season. He had a great CPLT20 league last year.
 
Also Hafeez bowled 2 overs in that practice match means he will be bowling this PSL 3. good for #PeshawarZalmi
 
3 overs for 38 for Wahab Riaz.... so nothing seems to have changed.

If we ignore Hasan Ali, Asghar and a couple of youngsters, Peshawar's team this season is pretty infuriating.

Hafeez, Wahab, Kamran etc. all are first choice players for them.:stokes

Zalmi fans should be very excited, because they have signed uber talented player from Bangladesh the giants of T20 cricket.

Peshawar has done good marketing to promote itself. But except for them, no other team has promoted itself properly.

Islamabad was asleep for the whole year. Karachi did nothing. Lahore also did nothing to promote its image. QUetta also stays dead and Multan couldn`t even pick a proper color to represent it.

THe ICL`s Lahore Badsha had better brand image than the Qalanders

If Lewis is available, Tamim shouldn't play, but their possible starting XI should have Tamim, Sameen and Haris, who are not T20 players. Also, MoHa, Kamran, Sammy, Wahab, Bravo are more in the veteran category - each a year closer towards wrong direction. They might struggle this year unless Shakib, Hasan & few others has an exceptional tournament.

Shakib is out for whole tournament, Hasan for about 1/3rd, and they have allowed Afridi to leave - it's going to be tough for defending champs.
 
Update from PZ: Hasan progress Monitored on Daily Basis. Coaches and Management will update when he is ready to play

Agree on them building a brand. They have done a good job so far.

I think Quetta Gladiators have done a good job considering the support they get.
 
I think PZ should rest Hasan Ali and play him only when heis 100% fit, he can have a huge impact on team's performance but i think Umaid has done a fine job and he hs been best All-rounder in domestics this season.

Must be so lucky to have a chance to practice with the Zalmi players. Some people don't realize just how good these professional cricketers are and I'd be honoured to practice with the likes of Darren Sammy, Mohammad Hafeez, Hasan Ali (yes he may be injured rn but in general)

Was just wondering, since Bangladesh have a T20I tri-series coming up, commencing from 6th March, any idea as to when he´ll be leaving for it?

Umaid Asif will continue to stay with the PeshawarZalmi squad as cover for both Hasan Ali and Harris Sohail
 
Peshawar Zalmi Captain Daren Sammy ruled out from today's PSL game vs Lahore Qalandars because of injury. Muhammad Hafeez will lead the side today. Haris Sohail also ruled out from today's match.
