Peshawar Zalmi team Dinner and Cruise last night.

After 5 matches and many training sessions players and team management take some time off to relax.

Tamim Iqbal and Shabbir Rehman leave for Bangladesh national team commitments.
Liam Dawson, now a fully active (played the last match as cover of Sammy) player for the remainder of PSL. Umaid Asif will cover for Haris Sohail.

So they “injured” Haris sohail ?

He is utterly wasted at Zalmi, should be at Lahore

PZ did a mistake by not playing Asghar on this spinning pitch. Ibtisam should be dropped for now.

He'll feel right at home at LQ, he'll give some tough competition to Umar Akmal, Ramdin and Gulraiz, in being one of the slowest or worst batsman of PSL. He's been a Tailender in PSL in the 5 or 6 games he's played.

even in t20s you need someone to play around and Haris would have been good for that job

Aren't Ramdin and Gulraiz good enough to 'play around'? :)))
Haris is seriously snail paced batsman, he's no good for T20s, he might be able to score some run-a-ball 30s or so, but he'll be a liability. PSL teams should rather invest in hacks and powerful hitters like Mukthar, Nasir Nawaz etc.

No they are rubbish. At least Haris can keep it ticking along if he plays at 3. More than good enough for this level

What an awesome spell of fast bowling that was yesterday by Wahab! He was fired up. The commentators revealed that prior to the match, Wahab had kind of light-heartedly challenged Waqar Younis, Islamabad´s bowling coach, that he´s going to tear apart their batting line-up. On his day, this man can be brutal and an absolute treat to watch. Great, great stuff!

Things not looking good here for Peshawar. The team somehow hasn´t gelled together as well as the last two seasons. Some Sammy magic can revive their campaign.

Tamim likely to return to Peshawar side if they qualify for the semis.

Before tamim left, PZ was at the top of the table, what happened?

Without Tamim and Harris there batting line up is full of oldies and TTFs. Such an uninspiring line up that has no interest in giving youngsters a chance other than Ibtisam. Don't see them qualifying.

I dont remember PZ was ever at top of the table this year.

Spin bowling other than Dawson has been a big concern for PZ this season with Asghar being completely out of form and Ibtisam being new to this level.

We must win our remaining two games, in order to qualify, the equation is pretty clear now.

Wish us luck, guys :D

Have been supporting them but now since Lahore is out of competition, want them to lift the cup once again.Hopefully they win their 2 next matches

If Peshawar lose their next match, they should play the Chinese players in their last game, just for laughs.

Spreading Smiles Across the Globe, Peshawar Zalmi Foundation and Darren Sammy foundation joins hands together to bring back smiles to the unprivileged.

The two foundations from different ends of the Globe decided to walk half way through and meet up for one common cause, eliminating poverty, shearing happiness and giving children a better future through healthy activity including sports.

A Special event was held on Wednesday at the Khaleej Times office in Dubai, where both Foundations inked a MOU for mutual collaboration. Peshawar Zalmi Foundation Chairman Javed Afridi and Peshawar Zalmi Captain Darren Sammy shed light on future combined initiatives of the two Foundations. Mr. Afridi, while highlighting the various work done by his Foundations, announced that Peshawar Zalmi Foundation will provide all the required cricket equipment to Darren Sammy Foundation in the city of St Lucia.

While addressing the event Mr. Afridi said that Pakistan had been worst affected by terrorism and specially KP province has seen terrible times.

“I have always condemned terrorism and want to work for the well-being of people affected by it. That’s why we at Peshawar Zalmi started the Peshawar Zalmi Foundation which is not only about cricket but also there to help and support people in need across the Globe.
The suffering, pain and lack of basic necessities for a common person is what motivated us to start this initiative. Today, we are working in more than 33 countries under the banner of Global Zalmi, and these 33 clubs are not just playing cricket but helping us in spreading smile in most parts of the world.”

Peshawar Zalmi Captain Darren Sammy shared his feeling with an enchanted smile that for him Peshawar Zalmi is not just a cricket team, rather it’s his extended family.

“I admire Javed Afridi for his massive cricketing sense and passion for the game, his idea for spreading smile among the needy is really amazing. I felt great pride when I met students of Army public school in Dubai last year and this hugely motivated me to do something similar back home in St. Lucia as my country faces similar situation”.

“I came from a family that has seen some very tough times, my mother has been working hard since she was sixteen and I know how tough it can be for most families. I don’t want children in my country to face the same hardships that I went through and want to do all I can to give them happiness and bring back smiles to them. It’s a little share from me for my Nation.

Darren Sammy further said that he has found immense love in Pakistan, especially in Peshawar where people lovely call him Sammy Khan. He also feels very proud that he has played his little part in returning cricket to Pakistan.

Mr. Javed Afridi on this occasion announced a donation worth $ 10,000 for Daren Sammy Foundation and promised to supply all cricket gear needed by the Foundation in promoting cricket in St. Lucia.

Is there any chance for Shakib & Tamim to join PZ in PAK?

Shakib probably won't but Tamim should definitely be picked for the next round.

Also Tamim on song in the Nidhastrophy trophy

Shakib is fit and played the match against Sri Lanka so he should join too. Inclusion of Shakib and Tamim will strengthen this team

PZ is on a roll and will be strengthened even more if they do join.Tamim in place of Smith and Shakib in place of Wessels.

It would have been, had we missed the Final. But, playing on Sunday night, then fly to Lahore (even if there is any flight available at 12 AM from Colombo), playing next game in 18 hours time isn't a good idea. Besides, they'll be moving to a totally different type of condition. If PZ makes the 1st cut, then it's possible from 2nd eliminator, otherwise not suggested - both are likely to fail big time.

Mohammad Asghar in a recent video:-
"I think if the matches in Pakistan go well then the whole world will take note and realise that Pakistan is a safe country. The world 11 came here last year as well and we played in the PSL final last year as well. West Indies is also coming soon this year. Inshallah if this goes well then the world will realise that Karachi and Lahore are safe venues for playing. I am very hopeful that everything goes well"

Andre Fletcher in an interview:-

"As a team, we made it to the playoffs which a plus for us. We are the defending champions and it will be good for us to go to Lahore and win the game to make it into the finals. Hopefully we can go on to win the trophy from there onwards."

"It's a great feeling (playing with other foreign players from all around the world). You can go into different leagues and play for different franchises but actually contributing to a winning cause is a great feeling. I have a great captain so it's a pleasure being around the team and hopefully I'll be back (next year)"

"We played against MS twice and they beat us twice. It's good to know that they are out of the tournamernt and we have nothing to worry about"

"I wouldnt say we had a dull moment. We did lose a few games but we were always happy and had a smile on our face and tried to have unity in the team so that everything went smoothly."

Peshawar Zalmi have confirmed to us that

Dwayne Smith will not be going to Pakistan

Shakib Al Hasan is almost confirmed for Pakistan whilst Tamim Iqbal is confirmed for Pakistan trip

Shakib al Hasan not fit. He was ready to come Pakistan but after his last international match he get unfit

Update regarding Shakib-Al-Hasan. He was willing to join the Peshawar Zalmi squad in Pakistan but has picked up an injury whilst playing for Bangladesh #PSL2018 #Cricket

Quotes from PZ players in Dubai who will be travelling to Pak

Darren Sammy

"Pakistan is no stranger to me as I have been there a few times"

"I am looking forward to stepping out on the field in the Gaddafi Stadium with my team, Peshawar Zalmi & I'm always proud of the part we have played in bringing cricket to Pakistan"

"I should also mention Chris Jordan, Andre Fletcher, Riki Wessels and Liam Dawson - we are all making this trip and we will all stick together as family"

"I am asking all the fans in Lahore to come out and support good cricket but wear your yellow to support the yellow team"

Chris Jordan

"Looking forward to getting to Lahore and seeing all the fans over there and getting that feeling that I got when we played the final there"

"We will be taking one game at a time, not looking too far ahead, dealing with the opposition that is in front of us"

"We got momentum at the right time which is what you need in Twenty20 cricket"

"It was crazy! From the time we walked into the Gaddafi stadium last year, the noise was immense"

"The atmosphere was electric, we had a lap of the ground and everyone was cheering for each and every player" -

Sabbir scored 77(50) in the Nidhastrophy final.

Can see him deliver again

Sammy after the loss to IU in the final:

"Obviously we're disappointed - first of all we didn't score enough runs"

"The difference today was Ronchi, the way started, the bowlers we took a little while to respond"

"They played better cricket today and deserved to win so congratulations to misbah and the Islamabad team, they deserved to win"

"I want the players to keep walking with their heads high - everyone wrote us off with 2 games to go in the tournament and we've won 4 knockout games to get to the finals"

"Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Chris Jordan, Sameen Gul emerging player Ibtisam Sheikh, they've come out and held their heads high"

"All in all disappointing we didn't win but I'm still proud of the way the guys have played"

"Coming here in Pakistan to play, its just been amazing"

Well well, it´s time to repeat the joke: A for Akmal, B for Ball, C for Catch, D for Drop! As I´d said prior to the match, I didn´t have a problem with either of the teams winning as long as the passionate Karachi crowd gets a nail-biting. Well, it was still a very tight, competitive final but it could´ve got very, very tight if not for the dropped catch. We all know the man well, so the PSL was just waiting for Kamran to drop an almighty crucial catch. I never wanted a stupid mistake to decide the title, and the mistake was made in the most crunch possible situation that you can imagine. But of course, let´s not be too harsh here on Kamran because he´s the biggest reason behind Peshawar even making it to the final as at one stage they looked to be exiting the tournament before the play-offs.

Besides that, I must add here that despite that catch Peshawar might still have been able to make a comeback but Hassan Ali bowled really, really poorly. He went for 50 I think yesterday and even in the second eliminator. He really had a couple of very bad matches.

Congratulations to Misbah and his Islamabad United team! :)

All credit to Javed Afridi and Peshawar Zalmi for partnering PTV in their endeavor to promote neglected sports. Say whatever you want about him, but Javed Afridi has built up the brand of Peshawar Zalmi. Perhaps his business background and training has helped him in this regard. The other owners aren't even in the same league as Afridi.
