Surprised they've released Hassan Ali.

Excited to see how Haider Ali gets on this season. Only scored 239 runs from 10 innings last time

They wont be the same team without Hasan.
Stupid decision because he is just about to enter his peak.

Livingstone? Really? He is not that great. They are going to miss Hasan Ali. Who will be one of the most sought after local players at the draft.

I would love to see Mohammad Shehzad (wk, AFG) play for Peshawar Zalmi, he is the most exciting player to watch in the AFG team for me. Rashid Khan is brilliant but Shehzad is a total Box office hit.

Peshawar take David Miller for their platinum pick.

Peshawar's first pick of the Diamond round, they go with Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Peshawar's second pick of the Diamond round, they take Sherfane Rutherford

Saqib Mahmood moves back to Peshawar once again

Mohammad Irfan is Peshawar's final Silver pick

Ibrar Ahmed is Peshawar's first Emerging pick

Mohammed Imran is Peshawar's final Emerging pick

He joins Peshawar's previous pick, Muhammed Imran :)

Ravi Bopara goes to Peshawar as their supplementary pick

Mohammed Amir Khan is Peshawar's final pick of the evening

Peshawar made a huge mistake releasing Hassan Ali. Does anyone know the reason behind this? It seems very strange given his recent resurgence and the bad form of all other pakistani pacers.

I also feel at least 2 out of Malik, Akmal and Wahab might have hit their cliff even for domestic cricket and will flop. To build around them as the core was not a good move.

Looking like Zalmi will finish between 4-6. When their batting clicks they may be able to make a huge score, but the bowling is looking very weak.

Peshawar Zalmi’s Cricket Director – Mohammad Akram: “We had come to the Draft with an aim to strengthen our middle-order and I am pleased that we were able to lock David Miller and Sherfane Rutherford. Miller is one of the most lethal and finest finishers of the game, while Sherfane is an explosive batsman with a wide range of shots who can also bowl. These two picks, supported by Mujeeb Ur Rehman, will improve the overall outlook of our side and we’ll be a more dominant side in the upcoming event.”

Gotta admit, PZ look like having one of the most balanced sides on paper.

1. KAMRAN AKMAL (wk)
2. IMAM-UL-HAQ
3. HAIDER ALI
4. LIAM LIVINGSTON
5. DAVID MILLER
6. SHOAIB MALIK
7. STERFANE RUTHERFORD
8. WAHAB RIAZ (c)
9. UMAID ASIF
10. MOHAMMAD IRFAN
11. MUJEEB UR REHMAN

Don’t you have to play one emerging player in the team?

But that’s a strong team looks like a lot will depend to no. 5-8 in this team.

My PZ line up would be:

1. Kamran Akmal (WK)
2. Imam-ul-Haq
3. Haider Ali
4. Liam Livingstone (F)
5. Shoaib Malik
6. David Miller (F)
7. Amad Butt
8. Wahab Riaz (C)
9. Saqib Mahmood (F)
10. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman (F)
11. Ibrar Ahmed (E)

A difficult line-up as I didn't know many Pakistan players picked. Would like to see Mohammad Imran (AR) get a game as would Sherfane Rutherford.

Wahab Riaz has been confirmed as Zalmi skipper for PSL6.

The squad looks very thin. Hassan Ali should have retained, but there is probably a reason he wasn't.

He asked to leave.

I think IU and him had agreed a deal before the draft.

Does Haider Ali not qualify as Emerging anymore?

If not, I guess I would drop Irfan or Umaid for Amir Khan or Ibrar. Still it is probably one of the most balanced sides in the tournament.

This makes more sense. IU without Misbah seems like the franchise to be at if winning games and professionalism is what you’re looking for.

Will Darren Sammy have a coaching background staff role? It will be very Wierd for him not to be involved with this franchise anymore

Peshawar could have kept only two of Akmal, Wahab, Malik and Hassan as platinum. Interesting that they essentially let Hassan go and chose Wahab and Malik. Both senior cricketers (and one the captain) but clearly inferior to Hassan at this stage.

It appeared Mohammad Akram is annoyed at Hassan, perhaps for not agreeing to stay as diamond since Peshawar backed him last year when he was injured, but if Hassan knew he could go to IU as platinum, I don’t blame him.

Useless

Hope they finish dead last so we can finally be rid of Muhammad Akram, Malik and that mafia

The real Shady guys in PSL are Aquib Javed and the Moin Khan family.

It is so damn weird looking at the Quetta franchise, DAD is the head coach of the team, MOM is a part of selection committee/background staff, SON has been carried with the team for two seasons without even playing a single game, it was only last year that he got games (since Umar Akmal got banned).

The only saving grace for the FAMILY is that their son is a decent player, nothing extraordinary as yet.

Nah, he's nothing special either. I think the best Afghan players have already been picked: Rashid, Nabi, Mujeeb, Qais and Noor Ahmed.

I mean he is much better than M. Shahzad. Not asking for his selection in the PSL

M. Shahzad gets hype because of associate bashing. He was most popular Afghanistan cricketer before the rise of Rashid Khan.

Imaam ul haq
Kamran akmal
Haider ali
Shaoib malik
Livingstone F
Miller F
Ammad butt
Wahab riaz

Can’t help but feel it’s a very weak squad.

You have the ‘big 3’ in Malik, Akmal and Wahab, and i wouldn’t be surprised if two of them end up being too old to perform anymore.

The bowling looks very weak without Hassan and a quality spinner. Good opportunity for Ammad Butt though as he was not getting a chance in IU.

Zalmi haven’t had a good squad since season 1, but they always find a way to be in the mix of things at the end of the tournament.

At least the one-legged Sammy is finally gone from the playing squad.

A lot depends once again on Kamran and this time Miller as well. Haider would play a few impact knocks as well.

Saqib Mahmood is a solid addition.

Not a great looking squad on paper but it won’t be surprising to see them have another good season.

There are only six teams. Kind of hard not to be in the mix of things.

It is, ask Qalandars who have finished bottom in all but one season.

Zalmi and Gladiators are the only sides to make the final thrice, and Zalmi is the only side to have made the play-offs in each and every season.

No need of taking credit away from Zalmi management just because it is a 6 team tournament. They are clearly doing something right compared to others.

Daren Sammy has arrived in Karachi.

Seems like he has a mentor role again - whatever that entails.

Sammy while he was barely fit, has something of a winning knack when he’s playing/captain. He’s done it for the Windies time and again despite not personally performing amazingly.

He’s there as a mentor but with Wahab as captain and a potentially over the hill Akmal their main player, I think this will all be too much for Zalmi.

They will rebuild in 2022 though with an exciting squad for sure.

This Saqib Mahmood is gonna lose us few games for sure, rubbish T20 bowler, not sure why have they picked him. Overall the squad is weak, no chance this year at all.

Teams will be licking their lips at batting against Saqib + Wahab + Irfan + Ammad. What’s the highest score in PSL history? I feel we may see a new record conceded by these boys.

as someone who watches a lot of english county cricket...hes a very promising young bowler and a good addition with a good t20 record albeit small sample size , good pace and lots of variations , who is highly rated by the ECB set up for a reason... maybe watch and judge as opposed to writing someone off with no good reason
