Pick your best Test XI of 2019

Not like that Generally in the 90s One dayers started gainng ascendancy Not many tests were scheduled for whtaever reason despite SA becoming a regular test nation. We played appallingly low number of Tests. Between 1992 and 1999 no tour to Australia. Australia played 4 tests in India in between England toured us just once in the entire 1990s. Tendulkar's very best form went unused due to shceduling. He was able to make up somewhat post 2000. But 1990s Tendulkar was a different beast.

Seems like PCB was governing cricket in India in 90s. Probably that’s why Pakistan played more tests than India :najam

Incorrect. The series was drawn 1-1.

Yes, one way of looking things!! Originally it was a 3 test series but the third test became part of Asian Test Championship. You can re-word it India and Pakistan drew first series 1-1, Pakistan won the second series 1-0.

Pakistan won the tour of 1999 2-1

Pakistan won the tour of 1999 2-1
The series comprised of 2 tests and ended at 1-1, end of...

The Eden Gardens test which Pakistan won was part of ATC and not the bilateral test series both countries played for. Both of them shared the trophy after drawing it which won't have been the case had Pakistan won the series 2-1 as you allude it to be!

Its you who are rewording the series by making it a 3-tests affair. Certainly another way of looking things....

Haha ok, the trophy was won fair and square 1-1. But you do agree that Pakistan won the tour 2-1? Btw the eden gardens test was first part of the series but later on it became part of the ATC.

Not really, it wasn’t ever part of the tour. It was always meant to be part of ATC.

It was a first tour after 12-13 years so naturally both sides would have agreed for at least 3 tests. Here's another article saying originally the series was meant to be 3 tests.

"The BCCI secretary said that earlier it was decided to host a three-Test and five one-dayer series against Pakistan, but the Asian Cricket Council, which met in New Delhi on December 15, desired that in view of the World Cup next year, Sri Lanka should also get a chance to prepare for the event. Hence the decision to hold the Asian Test Championship and triangular series."
