[PICS/VIDEO] David Warner's six after ball slipped from Mohammad Hafeez's hand - unsportsmanlike?

I am not sure whether what Warner did was wrong or not... However damn that ball by Hafeez cost Pakistan 9 runs: SIX, 1 run NO BALL, 2 runs FREE HIT.

Cost Pakistan the match...

Yes - the real culprit.

“To promote such a thing is absolutely ridiculous. You play how you want to but don’t promote this kind of unsportsmanlike behaviour for the kids who are playing and watching

"Langer himself has a history of questionable behavior; back in 1990, we played a Test match against Australia at Hobart. We were on track to win the Test but Langer did not walk after edging the ball. It was the biggest edge sound I have ever heard. He later admitted that he edged it but did not walk when it mattered"

I disagree.
When winning is the goal and there is no violation of the law of the game why you should let it go? Warner was right

Yes, its a culture with the worst ethics of the game to the extent their prime minister had to make calls to instill some semblance of decency. They have a long history of doing nasty stuff:
- underarm bowling
- cheating with 3rd umpire reviews
- ball tempering
- weather fixing
- umpire intimidating
- gang sledging and player harassment (aka mental disintegration)
- erasing batsmen's guard
- :
- :
endless!

Waqar Younis with his bottlecap reverse swing tactics should be the last person talking about the spirit of the game.

And in this incident he mentioned why should have Langer walked? It was not his fault that the umpire of that match missed the nick. And such incidents were very common back in the day - a reason why neutral umpires & DRS were later on introduced in the game.

The other day Warner walked without nicking the ball & Kohli did the same in the ODI WC, did the fielding team call him back? Also Batsmen get out by freakest of reasons - hit wicket, handling the ball, ball ricocheting off non-striker batsmen etc & the fielding team happily accept those wickets. Are these incidents fair?

Leg before appeals are made all the time by the bowling team when its blatantly obvious even to the bowler that the ball is not pitched in line/missing the stump. Are these appeals fair & in the right spirit of the game?

And not to mention Mankading. I have never understood why it generates so much controversy when it is actually the fault of the non-striker taking off even before the ball has been released by the bowler.

So many instances where this ‘spirit of the game’ is ambiguous & outright hypocritical. Things should never be let open for interpretation- if the cricket law makers think something is not in the spirit, they should simply codify it.

I never liked the Aussies for many reasons . Double standard is one of them.

I agree with you. The word spirit of the game is just a laughable word. Either any act is unlawful or within the law.

While it was unsportsmanelike, but i would still give credit to Warner

It was that six and game awareness that helped Australia win the World T20 in the end. Had Hafeez not bowled that ball and Warner not put that for six. Babar Azam would had bowled Hafeez another 2 overs maybe. Hafeez's next 6 balls were very well bowled deliveries after that double bounce no ball.

And Hafeez returned, Stoinis was a goner...

People will whine and cry about spirit of cricket, but its ridiculous. You have to cunning in the field and take advantage of those small errors, because as Ian Smith said, "by the barest of margins."

Nothing wrong with that shot nor speaking about it. Crap deliveries should always be hit out of the stadium....seems like sour grapes from Waqar

Looking at rules it has to bounce more than twice to be a no ball? and it has to be deliberate
or it should be called a dead ball?

Can we replay the match please..... umpire made mistake cost us the world cup. :)

I am only joking before everyone goes off on one...

It was a poor ball that got hit for 6, not sure what the issue is.

The issue is Warner, when ever any other player does it its just part of the game, if god forbid an Austrlaian does it then its unsportsmanlike.

I agree with Warne 100% on this and that's because it is virtually impossible for a batsman to keep a track of bowlers hand while at the other end. Anyone who has played cricket would agree that when on non-striker end you look at the pitch and not at the bowlers hand, and instinctively start walking simulataneously with the bowler landing.
