That lion does not look well at all. As you might expect being chained in Afridi's living room.

The Lion looks in really bad condition. It's a wild animal, shouldn't be chained up and kept like this.
 
Putting a lion on a chain in a house - so you can show him off.

Heartless and shameful. He is supposed to roam free in the jungle. I don't understand why people would have tolerance for this sort of behavior.

Can't joke about this.

The Lion looks in bad shape and tied by a chain - which isnt nice for any wild animal.

I don't like lions chained like dogs in home. Either allow them to roam free in the mansion,house etc or set them free in the jungle where they belong in the first place.

Such a graceful animal reduced to petty pet by rich people for their amusement.

Did he chain his tigers like afridi did or did he allow them to roam free in his mansion. I have always seen this video and am aware of one lawsuit where the state of ohio didn't allow him to keep them in his mansion.

Dont know the full detail of how he managed to keep them.

I agree. Lions are not meant to be chained up in captivity like this. The lion just looks weak
 
It was a staredown between Afridi and the lion.

Needless to say, Afridi won!

Knowing Mike I highly doubt he kept him in chains, he loved his animals and wanted them to remain as free spirits; in many ways they were therapy for him during some trying times growing up. But that may also explain the law suit because such an animal would be seen as a danger to the public especially because Mike treated the Tiger as if it were his own kid

if he "loved his animals and wanted them to remain as free spirits" - maybe he should've left them in the jungle in their natural habitat...

I doubt he loved them very much

Considering the fact that his transformation from a lisp-ridden feminine victim to a troubled teen with fists of iron took place after some bully ripped the head of one of his pigeons, I would safely say he loves animals.

He still holds pigeon races every year and had a freakin tiger as a pet!
 
Seems like a lot of people suddenly worried about animal welfare at the moment :P

Or that he had severe anger issue .. someone took something of his, and he lost it and went off on a violent spree

Mike tyson for all his weird stuff & horrible crime has always been an animal lover. Kinda hard to explain that part cause this guy at the time in 80's/90's had literally zero empathy for anybody in his life but he loved his pets like kids & never abused them.

You can seem him in many discovery channel or National geographic channel docs about pigeon racing since he owns them too.

He had a very troubled childhood, the symptoms of which he has carried throughout his whole life. Although in last decade or so, he has mellowed down a bit & matured really well.

But before that, yup he had lot of mental issues.
 
KARACHI : The Sindh Wildlife (SWL) Conservator Taj Muhammad Shaikh on Thursday called for a probe into the alleged presence of a chained lion in cricketer Shahid Afridi’s home after a video of the incident went viral.

Shaikh confirmed that the lion’s owner was one Hassan Hussain who also held the animal’s license, adding “we will find out what the lion was doing in Afridi’s home.” The conservator said that the investigation would start after Eid.

Meanwhile, Hussain, who owns the animal, said he has the license along with a travel permit. “I even informed the SWL department before taking my lion to Afridi’s home,” he said adding that Afridi has his detractors who are just trying to defame him.
Photos of Afridi with the lion went viral on social media last week with the cricketer and his six-year-old daughter posing with the feline in their home.

Almost three years ago Hussain bought a South African seven-month-old lion cub as well as a six-month-old lioness from Lahore for Rs1.5 million.

Since the cubs were more than six months old when they were purchased, Hussain said that they could not be tamed and he had to cage them on the roof of a friends house.

Later, he said that the couple gave birth to two male lion cubs, one of which they brought to their home and named Simba. According to Hussain, lions can be domesticated if they are reared by their master from birth. Since then Simba is living like a family member with them.

The license’s jurisdiction, he said is only within the limits of Karachi. However, license branch in-charge Rashid Agha told The Express Tribune that wild animals can only be kept inside a zoo, as they only issue them permits.

The permit, he said is issued after inspection by their team.
The department issues the licences as per the Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance, 1972 and Guidelines for the Acquisition and Management of Felines (Cat Species) in Captivity from the Ministry of Climate Change.

According to documents, the guidelines have been developed with the purpose to control illegal trade of big cats and unjustified acquisition of animals for zoo exhibits, overlooking the higher objectives of conservation and education.

The document explains that wild felines can only be housed at registered facilities.

Individuals cannot keep wild felines at their homes, as they do not contribute to education, research or conservation and this is not in line with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and can be dangerous.

Such an action is liable to punishment under Section 289 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), 1860 and Section 133 (public nuisance) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1989.

Legal standing

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) – Pakistan’s technical adviser, Uzma Khan, who has authored the guideline document, told The Express Tribune that although the guidelines have been approved by the Ministry of Climate Change and the provinces, they have not been made into a law yet as they have not been passed by the assemblies.

She said that local government laws, however, clearly state that any animal that can cause public nuisance cannot be brought openly into public places and the relevant district commissioner’s officer or police station would have to take action against any such violation.

She explained that the wildlife act for exotic species is extremely weak. “If someone purchases an exotic species from a local breeder, the wildlife act wouldn’t be applicable on them,” she lamented adding that a public figure like Afridi should keep such legalities in mind.

That lion doesn't look healthy at all... Lions are not pets, they should be free in the wild.

Sorry but i dont like this at all. The lion is in chains fgs. Why do we have to do this to inflate our egos? Reducing the majestic animal to a cheap showpiece just to feel like a king yourself is something that i would want to do away with.
 
The residents of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have filed a complaint over former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi keeping animals at his house.

Having received complaints from citizens, the DHA administration got the animals removed from Afridi's house. The DHA authorities also said they had asked the former cricketer to remove other supplies for livestock from his house.

Afridi had a lion at his house in 2018 as well. On a complaint by citizens, the Wildlife Department had launched an inquiry into it.

I seriously hate when animals are seen in human spaces and hate those who do this too. All I see is a gorgeous wild lion and nothing else.
