What's new

[PICTURE] Does this change all perceptions about race?

There is a website called ancestry.com. You send them your spit and the can find out about your heritage from your DNA. I am thinking of doing the same.

I just saw on facebook yesterday a post shared by a ugandan women who had the test done from ancestry.com and was shown middle eastern by heritage. Another post was from a german who has been residing in germany for 200 years and his ancestors turned out to be scottish.

ive done this, they have emailed me that they are testing my sample right now.

however recently im watching youtube videos - all sub continent people keep having a very similar mixture - 92% sub continent gene and rest mixture of slight central asian gene, 0.1% african

It's geared more towards people of European origin... for people from South Asia it just says XX% South Asian... it doesn't break it down into Punjabi, Sindhi etc..

I was thinking more along the lines of persian, middle east, some central asian country.

From what i have heard that central asian gene is assumed to be turks or persian. It makes sense since the region that is known as modern pakistan did get invaded a lot by foreign invaders in the last 1000 years.

If most ppl who studies in genetics in high school and paid some attention, and think really hard regarding how inheritance is passed on, racism should just die there on the spot. (even if you are raised by racist parents).

I believe racism is spread by parents/guardian to children. I don't see any other way. Different colour children growing up together or being raised together don't see colour.

Was the German 200 years old? :afridi:

On a serious note, its really incredible that the ancestory could be traced and the information it generally reveals. Many white supremacists have been shown to have middle eastern or even African ancestory.

Are both Parents white or black or are they kids of interracial couples?

If both parents are white or both parents are black, then it is incredible.

If both parents are either white or black then there's clearly more to it than meets the eye :akhtar

If both parents are not black or white, then there is nothing special about this story.

I have seen interracial couples where one kid looks almost black while the other one looks almost white.

In the OP, the black girl does not look complete black to me. She looks biracial while the white one looks complete white.

From what I read online, the mother is white and father is black

I got 68% south Asian , 4 % central Asian from ancestry, apparently you get different results from different companies.

Lmao typo error. Meant to say his german ancestors

That's what I want to know.

I assumed the test could tell me this, hence I bough the kit.
After some research - realised it was was generally

I know that most Pakistani will have the central Asian and Persian gene.

Yeh after some research I found that thr **** some other companies which offer the test.

I have no clue which company gives you the better indicate

I actually did this last year, and ended up with these types of results.

Right now, they don't have divisions within the subcontinent area, but there are multiple projects working on it. The good thing here is when they come out with new developments and data, they actually update your results according to that. You can also upload your data to other sites to see what estimate they come out with, though most of them give very similar estimates to each other.

Interesting that it put you in Central Asia... does it put the areas comprising Pakistan in Central Asia?

Also interesting that you have 4% British..... maybe a few centuries ago one of your ancestors took interest in the goora sahibs :srt

Central Asia seems to be Pakistan and North India on the map, while South Central Asia is South India. I don't know whatt's with the names.

4% British came as a huge shock! And in fact, after uploading my results on many pages, I found a few distant relatives through that 4% British.

Another website I uploaded to gave me these results, which seem to make more sense.

One of my former room mate, an Iyer guy got similar results. He had like 9% west Europe and some 3% central Asian and some East Asian too. He is like 80% south Asian.

Not sure how accurate those results are. He was laughing at the results and didn’t not trust them.

If you are 80% south Asian, the. You are as desi as it gets. That tiny bit of centra Asian and west European blood means nothing.

From what I know, these results are very accurate at a continental level, but are a bit dodgy when talking about nations. 80% South Asian, 8% Central Asian, 5% West Asian, and 8% European is accurate. As soon as you try going down to levels like Irish, German, etc, it becomes a more guesswork, less science.

I just wanna know if I am part Mongolian.. I don’t think any test will tell me that. I’ve long suspected I’m distantly related to Halaku Khan

Racists will be racists. No picture of anything will remove this disease from their minds.
Six degrees of separation is the theory that any person on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries could be true after all we all come from the same source. Racists still believe that they are superior species, nothing can convince them otherwise.

He might've expected PURE ARYAN genes TBH :))) . It kind of gels with the general observations that South Indian Brahmin groups tend to have much lower ANI genes than corresponding northern brahmin groups or even other castes.

Amazing, this reminds me of the case that took place in South Africa during the apartheid in which a white couple miraculously gave birth to a black girl. One of the greatest stories in history to truly question the dynamics of racial politics

Did they do dna Test on the girl and her dad?

How is this picture supposed to make anyone rethink race. Another example of a dying magazine trying to stay relevant by using an amusing genetic co-incident as basis for some supposedly deep and intellectual debate over race.

well im a proper desi - 97% asia south and 3& central asia. honestly very disappointing

Definitely. I got superior 83% Asia minor and 13% North Africa so I am not disappointed. Check your results again, could be better this time.

If both parents are white or both parents are black, then it is incredible.
There was a similar case some years ago of a (white) woman giving birth to twins, a black boy and a white girl, with different fathers, a black guy and a white guy! It transpired that the mother had been intimate with the two fathers within a very short time of each other.

Desi is just a cultural label nothing to do with blood. In the future as the science gets better that 'south asian' component will further divide into ethnicities like it does for Europe so then people can tell what regions they originate from.

Cool I have a friend with a similar background, do you have some persian ancestry? If you get your Y dna tested then you can find out your direct paternal ancestry.

I just ordered my y-DNA the other day. I am supposadly from a "Syed" family, so if I am to believe that, then I have Persian ancestry. I have doubts over me being pure Syed though, I probably still do have some amount of Syed blood due to fake and real Syeds mixing over the past few centuries.

The y-DNA test should definitely clear things up to some extent.

Apparently Arabians usually have J1 ydna whereas that is less common among Pakistanis where R1a and J2 are more common. Ydna shows your direct paternal ancestry so it wouldn't change, it's what a father passes on to his son.

Should be very interesting. Obviously, my ethnic % above would be like that whether I am Syed or not. When people move to other regions, they mix, and the previous ethnic admixture gets diluted.

Really looking forward to my y-DNA results, as it will show where my ancestors were really from.

If I am Syed, I should be expecting J1 I think

Yeah autosomal dna will change but the Y and mtdna stays the same. It's also known as the 'founder affect', a patriarch can can pass down his ydna but he and his sons keep marrying out then autosomal dna would obviously change.

Yeah exactly. Expecting my results within a month I think.

It's interesting to see so many Pakistanis over internet claiming West Asian or Central Asian ancestry.
I wonder what happened to the native converts. Or those poor dalits who converted. Why nobody mention about that?

Where are those Pakistanis claiming foreign ancestry? :)) My ancestors were native converts in Kashmir.

Why is it disappointing?

i thought i would have more central asian egene in me - as my height is 6 3and half inches - i tower across nearly every asian i meet in the UK.

my comment has nothing against being desi - just thought i have more other gene in me

Always cool to have a bit more Central Asian and Euro Genes.

i didnt mean it like that - like i stated to another poster - im fine being desi, just as im very tall for a asian man - id thought i have other gene's in me - which for me if id have - its absolutely fine

how do i upload my data with purchasing another dna test from this company

Sign up with them, it's free than they should have an option where it says upload DNA, if you used ancestry download your Raw Dna than upload that onto my heritage.
