Pakistan kick off their T20I series against Bangladesh today with an exciting lineup, and all eyes will be on Salman Mirza, making his debut in the green jersey! From domestic standout to international stage, it’s a proud moment for the young pacer to show what he’s got.

A promising right-arm fast bowler, Salman Mirza has been on the radar of Pakistan’s selectors after impressive domestic performances. Part of Pakistan’s squad for the Bangladesh series, he replaces key pacers like Shaheen Afridi (rested) and Haris Rauf (injured). Known for his ability to generate pace and movement, Mirza’s inclusion adds fresh energy to Pakistan’s bowling attack.

Nice debut for young Salman. But the might of Bangladeshi was too much to be undone by the Pakistanis.

Salman Mirza gets the prized scalp of Liton Das for his side, early in the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh.

What a spectacular series for Salman Mirza, another great bowling display by him against Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I. His figures so far 3/15 in 3 overs.

Man I have been very impressed with this guy. Bowled swing well, good short stuff and good line-length bowling. Showed the toil domestic cricket has reaped his rewards for him.

Am I hyping him up to say there is a bit of Mohammed Amir in him post ban? Nevertheless, an impressive debut series for Salman.

He is good bowler and has got good 2/3 years of cricket left in him.
And considering the fact that he has played only 6 FC games he definitely punched above his weight.

Pretty good start this from Salman.. Really liked his overall performance. He can swing and can bowl a good slower one also... Overall, a pretty good thinking bowler. Should be given all the chances that he can get before the big events.

Impressive so far, much better than some garbage that played for Pakistan

Salman is another example that pace isn’t everything. You can tell from his arm action, the way he rolls the ball off his fingers, and the movement he generates that he’s going to be effective. HE reminds me of FazalHaq Farooqi from Afg. There aren’t many bowlers in the circuit who you can look at and immediately recognize as impact bowlers. Ihsanullah was one of them — and he had pace too — but unfortunately, his career was cut short due to incompetence.

Another bowler who clearly has the potential to be an attacking, impact player is Sufiyan Muqeem. I have no idea why he isn’t being groomed. He could become an impact bowler like Kuldeep Yadav, and his height gives him the ability to extract extra bounce, making him even more dangerous.

No offense to bowlers like Daniel, Fahim, or Afridi, but their bowling is quite ordinary. This is where they need to rely on experience and intelligence to compensate for their lack of natural swing, pace, or raw ability. Fahim, to his credit, seems to be figuring that out, and his developing skill set — combined with his batting ability — adds depth to the lineup

Salman Mirza against Bangladesh:

Overs 11.3
Maidens 1
Runs conceded 59
Wickets 7
Average 8.42
Economy rate 5.13
Strike-rate 9.80

Dropped for the series against West Indies.

Salman Mirza makes instant impact for PCT, as he removes the bogeyman Reeza Hendricks for his side in his very first over in the 2nd T20I

One-trick pony who is 5'6, 31 and relies heavily on the ball swinging. What am I missing here?

Salman Mirza in the post match ceremony of the second T20I against South Africa:

The plan was simple to bowl within the stumps and bowl according to the pitch. Very early we found that the ball is holding and turning, so we used our variations. When you comeback after a long break and give a match-winning performance then it is very satisfying. The slower one that bowled Matthew is the one I enjoyed the most.

Too early to judge, he needs more games should be in loop as our fast bowling stocks are thin

He is already 31. Wth

Thought I was witnessing the start of a long promising career

Is his actions legit?

I saw some highlights and wasn't too sure - mind you it was on tiktok so not the best quality

He is 5 feet 10, same as Naseem.

One day you guys will realize that seasoned domestic performers serve better than fake teenage, overhyped, wonder kids.

You still didn't learn your lesson despite all the recent victories in tests, ODIs and t20s coming with help of such veterans.

One of the biggest reasons for Pakistan going backwards in recent times is the disrespect for domestic performers. And the culmination for that was in world t20 2024, where you had Amir and Usman from other leagues, the likes of Azam Khan, Naseem, Rauf, and others, none of them domestic performers.

You don't allow talent any true pipeline, only look for overhyped wonderkids and fast track them and this is the result.

He is not 5'10 and he is not a domestic performer either. He is a product of Lahore Qalandars talent hunt. Do your research before writing a long paragraph based on false premise. Also stop
shoehorning Naseem Shah into every argument. Nobody cares about him as much as you.

He is definitely the same height as Naseem and both claim to be 5 10.

And I will keep exposing hypocrisy and double standards as long as I see them. On the day he got a man of the match in a winning cause, you are tearing him down.

We all know the agenda.

I'm just calling it like it is. He's a trundler who is very short and relies on very specific factors being in his favor to take wickets. I never said Naseem Shah is any good or that he should even be in the team. Unlike you I am not obsessed with one player and don't care if one bowler is less trash than the other. At the end of the day both are trash and not cut out for T20I cricket.

Shinwari 2.0. You not missing anything.

He's not a long term option even if he was younger.
Shinwari was wayward bowler and get hit for lots of runs. Salman has impressed in his short career thus fsr snd taken lots of wickets with good control. His pace is no worse than others. Last game his average was fastest for Pakistan if I recall correctly.

Your argument doesn't really apply to Salman Mirza lol he has been "fast tracked" as he has barely played any matches across formats.

Anyway regardless of this particular player, domestic cricket for Pakistan in T20 format is PSL and National T20. If a player performs he will get selected and to be fair that has been happening for a long time. The T20 selection has been consistently those that have performed in PSL ( Babar recent selection is an exception).

Not a fan of the guy but don’t think he’s that short, seemed slightly taller than Babar, prob 5’11’/6 ft as it’s the case with Pak fast bowlers generally
