[PICTURES] 36 players participating in training camp ahead of West Indies tour (ODIs/T20Is)

Ideally This would be my T20 squad from the list above I would give Amir a rest and not play him in t20s:

1. Shehzad
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Malik
5. Sarfaraz
6. Hussain Talat
7. Shadab Khan
8. Imad Wasim
9. Wahab Riaz
10. Hassan Ali
11. Rumman Raees

12. Usman Shenwari
13. Usama Mir
14. Saad Ali
15. Yamin

I'd go with that. Lots of youngsters so fielding "should" pick up. bowling depth too. I like having alot of players who can bowl in T20's in case one or two get some tap. I would see if we can get Babar bowling in t20's. Might prove useful

where are Inzi's darlings Umar Akmal and Hafeez?

Just for inzi's info

Umar Akmal last 10 innings

Last 10 ODIs 236 run = 23.6 avg

Last 10 t20 189 run = 18.9 avg

164 in 8 PSL t20 matches = 20.5 avg

Now he will be playing as a batsmen only with no other duties.
So a pure batsmen slot in the team he is no where deserve to be in the camp even.

He shouldn't be selected in the team and must be replaced by an all-rounder.

Can haris sohail be added as 32nd player to the camp. I believe Sarfraz is intelligent enough to ask for his inclusion. But not sure haris is alright and fit enough for an int'l comeback.

Can u pls give the same for hafeez. He was terrible since he was dropped after the English summer test series.

He is fit, but he is severely short of match practice and is very rusty. Needs to play a few domestic games to get back in the flow of things. I expect Harry to be back in the side by the last quarter of 2017.

List of 31 is quite decent from Inzi, which indicates that he knows what needs to be done. Unfortunately, he couldn't come out of his loyal bunch, hence we might not see the reflection when the finals squad is selected.

Anyway, these are my 16 for both squad (Ideally 15, but I'll pick 1 more so that Arthur has bigger pool)

ODI

1. Ahmad ‎Shahzad
2. Hussain Tallat
3. Babar Azam
4. +Sarfraz Ahmed*
5. Shoaib Malik
6. Saad Ali
7. Shadab Khan
8. Sohail Khan
9. Muhammad Amir
10. Hasan Ali
11. Muhammad Asghar
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Umar Akmal (+), Fakhar Zaman , Imad Wasim, Rumman Raees, Fahim Ashraf

T20

1. Babar Azam
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Kamran Akmal
4. Umar Akmal
5. Sarfraz Ahmed
6. Shoaib Malik
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab Khan
9. Sohail Tanveer
10. Hasan Ali
11. Rumman Raees

Ahmad ‎Shahzad, Hussain Tallat, Wahab Riaz, Usama Mir, Saad Ali

* Amir needs rest more than anyone else, therefore he is relieved from T20 squad, not dropped.
* There is a gap in ODI middle order, preferably a lefti. If this time Saad Ali isn't picked, there is no easier seres to do such
* I picked Asghar over Imad in playing XI, because in 50 overs game, more than few runs, a wicket taking genuine spinner is far bigger match winner. ODI XI has Shadab at 7 & all 3 pacers are decent with bat - unless top order flops, Imad's batting might not be required in most matches, but Asghar's 10 overs can be match winner against against teams.
* The idea is a left-right opening combo - not necessarily which 2 are best openers. Between the 2 lefties, Fakhar is more explosive, but technically poor, while Talat is a fantastic prospect for intermediate format (ODI). His off side game is even better than Sharjeel & he can rotate strike. Besides, I haven't seen his bowling, but if he can manage few overs of seem, may be on slower surface PAK can drop Sohail for Imad & use Talat for few overs as 1st change. Fakhar replaces Talat in T20 (one main reason is young players shouldn't be exposed to T20 too early in career)
* For T20, Tanvir is still one of the best bowlers available, while Wahab comes as Amir's replacement - one of them will start. Mir is there for experience & back-up of Shadab.

I am confident that 1st 3 picks from Inzi after the obvious one (Sarfu, Captain) are MoHa, KAkmal & Wahab, probably Azhar as well - there goes the chance for Talat & Saad, probably Raees as well. Now, since it's just after PSL, Inzi will be forced to pick Shadab at least. Of all the CS in last few year, I am actually most disappointed with Inzi so far, because he knows the game & he is doing it purposefully - I hope, he proves me wrong this time.

yes he is rusty but we cant judge him with the T20 format where he normally struggles to hit shots from the word go during his in-form days... he and babar azam are same, In t20 their best place is to open and play conventional cricket shots for boundaries... surely he needs more int'l match practice... I believe he should be taken into the camp....WI is a weak opponent for him to get some match practice and I reckon he should be in the tour to WI to get that int'l match experience... because the domestic game will not give him the required experience and match fitness to make a comeback...

Umar Akmal selected by you? non sense, Sohail in ODI but not in t20? Tanvir in t20 and not Shinwari?

very bad

good record, should be selected on merit alone, with Lahori chargha free supply provided free of cost

He is neither in the emerging players camp or the 31 man squad camp.

So going by Inzi's thinking he is not in the immediate or near future team plans.

I expect ahmed shahzad to be selected and fail in both t20 and odi.
Pakistan needs news faces. Too bad the next domestic odi tournament commences after the windies tour has already begun.
I really want to see a team without Hafeez, Malik, shehzad, akmal etc etc

yes provided sarfraz is the captain, that team will win more matches than they actually do... In the current tour to WI, these three hafeez, AS,UA shouldnt be selected... malik is the only player in the senior TTFs who has had good to decent scores in every series and also looked in good touch in the PSL 2017

yes looks like...but sarfraz can ask for him to be included, then it is upto the camp and MA to decide whether he needs more time in domestics or can be added into the squad for WI

M.Hafeez last 10 matches record

ODI 326 runs in 10 matches= 32.6 avg
T20 183 in 10 matches. = 18.3 avg
PSL 153 runs in 9 innings = 17.00 avg

As he plays as an allrounder, his selection might be justified in both T20 and ODI.

Kamran Akmal

ODI 236 runs in 10 matches = 23.6 avg

T20 93 runs in 10 matches = 9.3 avg
PSL 10 matches = 32 avg.

As we know he called up because he played well in four matches of PSL out of 11 matches which means 60℅ of times he failed but I think still he needs a go in T20s although his previous international T20 record is horrible.

T20 Team

Babar
Fakhar/Shehzad
Sarfaraz
Malik
U Akmal (definitely need a more consistent batsman here)
Shadab
Imad/Nawaz
Faheem Ashraf
Hasan Ali/Raees
Aamir/Tanvir
Asghar/Usama Mir

I'd like to see Sarfaraz come in early play his busy cricket between over 5-15 and make way for the power hitters in the last few overs.

Good bowling depth is now starting to emerge as that line-up doesn't even include Wahab and Sohail Khan.

So from the 39 players who were shortlisted for camp at NCA to unearth future prospects of Pakistan cricket, these players Asif Zakir, Saad Ali, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Abbas, Usman Shinwari, Fahim Ashraf & Ammad Butt have made an impression to the right people to be included in this camp. Interesting.

So there will be a 50 over intra squad match on 15th and after that the team for WI will be announced. Interesting !

It should be

Shehzad.
K Akmal.
Hafeez*.
Malik.
U Akmal.
Imad.
Amad.
Tanvir.
Amir.
Usama.
Hassan.

VS

Fakhar.
Tallat.
Babar.
Saad.
Sarfaraz*.
Shadab.
Fahim.
Sohail K.
Wahab.
Asghar.
Shenwari.

This way we can know which of the youngsters can perform against the big boys .

This is Mickey's quote.

"We will have a practice game with 2 squads on the 15th and then announce the squad that will go to the West Indies"

from the other thread

yes i have said here in PP before that they should make a pool of 40 players, and play a tri series just like India do as India red, green and blue..., this is what they must do quite often when the team is performing poorly and especially for ODI squads, this will give the best picture of who is in-form, who can do well and who cannot on the same day.. It also will give an option to see who can captain the team in the future...... I hope hafeez, Shehzad play against Amir... Hopefully they telecast this match in ptv sports...

The captain of the two teams in practice match should be Sarfaraz and Imad Wasim

The captain of the two teams in practice match should be Sarfaraz and Imad Wasim

imad Wasim will not be regular in another 2 years if he doesnt improve his bowling and batting ability., he is utility in the team is very little and less, and with competition shown by the young players in PSL imad needs to do a lot of work... i believe they can give the captaincy to Babar Azam or Amir or Wahab

KAkmal got into the side not because of his PSL performance but on his last 2 years performance in domestic. Although I would prefer newer players I don't think blooding them in the champions trophy is the way to go.

this is bilal asif isnt it... he was not in the list... but good he is tried, he was discarded without enough chances..

Looks like and if MA and Inzi are really digging the pool deep which is good..

May be the coaches wanted the players to face an offspinner for practice before going to west indies and directly face Suniel and Ashley Nurse

Would be great if we could get some videos from these sessions

Arthur said that 5 guys from the emerging players camp had been added to the main camp. Not sure of who all they are.

i think those five are SHADAB, ammad butt, usman shinwari, saad ali and fahim ashraf.. these guys have made up the list of 31, still not sure who are the remaining 5? emerging players camp thread?

Bilal Asif was one of the players in the other camp so looks like he's been added to the main camp - probably one of the 5 mentioned.

if they have a match tmw then my two teams for the match are.... no UA and tanveer as they are failed fitness tests...

ARY Reports:

Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz rested from T20Is. Usman Khan Shinwari and Shadab Khan to replace them.

Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif dropped from T20Is. Kamran Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad to replace them.

Not sure about the rest of the squad though; But this is 90% certain.

I think the T20 squad will look like this

1. Shehzad
2. K Akmal
3. Babar Azam
4. Malik
5. Sarfaraz
6. Talat
7. Shadab Khan
8. Imad Wasim
9. Sohail Khan
10. Hassan Ali
11. Rumman Raees

12. Shenwari
13. Fakhar Zaman
14. Usama Mir
15. Aamer Yamin

Hasan Ali
Sohail Khan
Rumman Raees
Usman Shinwari
Fahim Ashraf (since Aamer Yamin is not in contention and Amad Butt is still raw)

Looks solid.

Observations:

1) Batting:
Fakhar Zaman, Asif Zakir, Saad Ali and Hussain Talat could be good additions given their consistent performance and high batting averages

(Asif Zakir has 9 100s in 69 matches;
Saad Ali has an average of 62 in 32 games;
Fakhar has an avg of 49 with a SR of 93;
Hussain Talat has an avg of 47.3 with 3 100s in 24 games)

2) Fast/Med Pace All-Rounders:

The cupboard is pretty much empty here. No noteworthy performances or stats from Ammad Butt or Fahim Ashraf

3) Spinning All-Rounders:

Great competition here between Imad, Shadab and Nawaz.

Based on Shadab's PSL performance he should be given a chance in ODI + T20 vs WI.

4) Left Arm Fast:
It is time to probably give up on Rahat Ali and try out Ruman or Usman Shinwari.

In List A games both Rumman and Usman have similar Avgs (25-26); SR (32); Econ (4.7-4.9).

Tough competition between these two.

5) Spinners:
Asghar's stats are extremely impressive compared to Usama Mir's Stats.

Asghar should be picked (as we was vs Aus) for the WI tour. Usama Mir should perhaps spend some more time in the domestic circuit and get more List A games experience.

List of 31 is quite decent from Inzi, which indicates that he knows what needs to be done. Unfortunately, he couldn't come out of his loyal bunch, hence we might not see the reflection when the finals squad is selected.

More or less, they have picked almost identical team that I thought would serve best, but spoiled it with just few horrible picks - take out MoHa, Asif Zakir - Inzi picked almost a perfect team.

Some of the tactical issues they identified perfectly -
1. Amir been rested for T20
2. Couple of genuine spinners picked
3. Fahim been picked as pace all-rounder, which I think is the best option among 3, 4 probables
4. Tannu been considered in T20, which I think is a right call, because his 3 overs at the start can be handy
5. Umar misses out for fitness, which itself a positive sign
6. Sohail is not a T20 bowler, at least that's been noticed. His strength is in pitching it up, which doesn't suit T20

MoHa I can understand, national treasure, he is more powerful than any one, but one of Saad or Talat, if not both should have been part of the squad, as they are lefti as well - rest is explainable.

Hasan Ali clearly has Rumman and Imad beat in terms of running speed.
