[PICTURES] Abid Ali takes off his helmet to celebrate reaching a half-century against Zimbabwe

It's a miracle he didn't take off his shirt and run across the field football style.

Was fasting today. Its fascinating how fasting sportsmen have played better like Rizwan, Kante and pogba etc.

I think someone must have said something to him the last time.
Because he's been taking off his helmet for a 50 all through out his international career thus far.

Now I feel bad :(

I hope that is true! He needs to understand that he's not representing a club team but a team that has a rich cricketing history and should be beating Zim with their eyes shut!

Wouldn't be the worst thing if he felt a little bad either. This guy needs to toughen up and have some swagger. These OTT celebrations are so embarrassing to watch

His double hundred is a massive slap to the OP and all the posters hating on him and making fun of his celebration. Man has been batting since than and now goes onto score a double Ton is still not out regardless of the opposition runs are runs and plus he’s fasting. It’s even funnier cause no one even mentioned the fact that he takes his Helmet off every time since he started playing when he scores a fifty or 100 regardless. Well done abid lets the haters hate

Go Go Go Sir Abid Go.

It's difficult to concentrate and perform so we'll when half the fans are waiting for your failure.

He has been the butt of the jokes and called as someone for whom 50 is a mammoth achievement. Today he fires back with a 100 and shut up all the haters.

His haters who are usually very hyperactive are nowhere to be seen today.

Can't knock a double-hundred, but you have to look at the level of the opposition too.

The Zimbabwe bowling attack is probably the equivalent of a 2nd XI County side, in fact probably worse.

Good innings for the stats and it will keep him in the Test side for a few games at least.

Yeah I know but babar azam couldnt manage.

People getting a bit too excited. A double is a double yes. But calm down. This is the worst Zimbabwe attack in years.

Agreed. He’s batted better than everyone else but question marks will remain

Yep, he really needs to prove himself in WI and to be honest he had to put on some sort of performance after failures against Eng, NZ and SA. It still doesn’t answer the question of whether he can play against the best bowling attacks.

Well done to him but he needs to prove himself against WI and that will shut me up.

Non issue. I really dont care how he celebrates. He perhaps knows deep down that this 50 was needed to boost his confidence hence he felt the need to celebrate.

May be there are better things to come when he faces quality bowling attacks. I am not an Abid Ali fan but lets just him be who he is.
I was right then.

It wont shock me if he gets a big score against a better bowling attack.

Congrats to him But he needs to start scoring against better teams

He cant have a career bashing just like of zimbabwe and sri lanka

Like I said, he can't do it anywhere where it matters.

Local club cricket bowling level.

If I made a 200 vs Zimbabwe I wouldn’t even raise my eyebrow. Is this why we have tours where we send full strength squads to Zimbabwe btw?? So these mediocre domestic sher can have their day? Wth seriously.

Hasan Ali gives a send-off to Jongwe but not a peep from anyone. Yet Abid Ali taking off his helmet is an issue

Complete minnowbasher. Will be exposed against any half-decent bowling attack. People said he’s just “out of form” against SA at home. He wasn’t out of form, that’s just his level when faced with an actual Test-level bowling attack.

He needs to continue his form against West indies.but nevertheless it was a very good innings.

It just makes me sad to see these mediocre players in our team. Looks like this is the best we have. A batsman removing his helmet for a mere 50 against mighty Zimbabwe on a road gets annoying when he can't even put one decent innings against any demi good teams.

We can still persist with him but the Imran Butt Guy needs to go or play as a specialist 12th man.

Abid and Azhar can open, then Pakistan can add an extra middle order bat to shore up the line up

This. Saud Shakeel should be adjusted in the middle order. Far better than good-for-nothing Butt.

Abid Ali can be persisted with for a bit.

Seems not done that this time!

I don’t remember how but someone once said a statement along lines of ‘happy to score quarter century but should have kicked on for a big one’

He is Ponting/Richards level when facing minnows

It’s a shame others cannot do the same tbh

Aaron Finch? In the world cup he said smth along the lines of 'Happy to score a hundred, but should've gotten a big 100'
