Pictures of him as batter Babar Azam after a long time.

Seems strange to see him like that but I guess he has now got to adjust to his new life as a regular player.

Now that captaincy burden is gone, he can focus on his batting.

I expect his performance to get better.
 
Let's see if he can prove that his hype was indeed justified and that he truly is a world class player belonging in the FAB 4 now that he has all the license, time in the world to focus on his batting.
 
All he need to just conentrate on his game.

Let go of the past and work towards reclaiming the top position in cricket again.
 
That he fully supports whoever is captain.He also needs to hit at least couple of 100s in Australia( given the big of luck you need).
I am a big Babar fan but my loyalty is to PK and not to individuals and if he starts to ***** about the captaincy or anything else, he will lose the likes of me.
 
Wonder if he will stand quietly in the field or give advice to Shan?
 
When Babar was captain, he was taking advice from other players. How can he give advice to anybody else now?
Sarfraz will be the person who can come to the party here for shan as an advisor.

I think during ramiz perios as PCB chairman, it was decided that nobody will bother babar in onfield decisions
 
To finally start scoring in away test series. If not win then at least start helping his team to draw tests by scoring heavily. He has like 1-2 away test ton so far and close to 30 years old.
 
Can he score some important test runs now ? He has not scored any impactful test innings outside the subcontinent .

Big test for him.

Now the excuse of the captain's burden is not there.
 
To focus on his batting, win games for Pakistan single handedly, and become the world's greatest ever batter.
 
he will gain lot of respect from me if he goes back to domestic and work hard on his game like Sarfraz armed rather than being picked on past glories
 
Start by scoring a century or two in the Australian test series. He is nearly 30 and has just one test century in SENA conditions, which is frankly abysmal for a so called world class batsman.

Not just SENA, he has 2 tons away so far. Aus ground are not going to have too much movement. Just need to handle bounce.

Also, making ton when Pakistan is totally out is not good. Do it when game is on the line. Save it by batting big. I have noticed that he like to only play support role. Others have been outscoring him in away series.

He is still learning to play spin, but spin is not a big factor in Aus.

Drawing a test match is in Australia is not so difficult. Any good batting side can draw a test there if only Aim is draw . India lost 2 test match during 2015-16 tour just because india try to chase the target .they would have easily draw them but Kohli was going for a chase where we were lost the two games. Australia is produced most batting friendly pitch so apposition always lost becouse they couldn't get 20 wickets.

Yah, Batting big in Aus is not that hard and I think even Pakistan has batted reasonably well in Aus in recent times. Just need main batsman to step up and score big to make it hard to lose the test. Problem is, 350 score won't help because Aus bats too quickly against poor bowling attacks. Need to put 500-600 runs to just make it hard to lose.

I think it may not be a bad goal for Pakistan to draw a test in Aus. It's not hard, but Pakistan has not done it in decades.

Yes draw should be first goal of Pakistan ,this is babar time to perform and break the record of Australia consecutive 17 test win against Pakistan in Australia .
 
Babar will be a better batsman with no captaincy burden. He should just focus on his batting now and score big runs..
 
Babar still remains Pakistan's best batting asset by a hundred country miles. I would like to see him return back to his best without the burden of captaincy.

This tour will be definitive for not just Babar Azam, but for Pakistan Cricket as a whole. I hope with all my heart that he goes on to score heaps of runs down under, and I hope that he goes to Australia having worked on the minor technical faults he has shown recently.
 
If this wasn't the Australian tour then I would have advised Babar to take time out. He needs time away and take stock

Pakistan needs to aim to emulate India's and NZ tactics in Australia in the last few series. Do not blindly go look striving fro wickets and end up conceeding 600 runs without any strategy. The Australian bowling attacks becomes half when they have 300-350 runs to work with vs 600 plus runs. Bowl ruthlessly with discipline on the stumps and a packed leg side field, no cuts, pulls.

He is going to score big runs but his strike rate and bit hitting will be an issue in white ball cricket.
 
He has to score atleast 500 runs in the aus series with 2 big daddy hundreds. He should score a hundred in Perth for sure to keep his reputation and to mask the wc failures.
 
He need to just focus on his game now on.

He really has no choice to perform now, which is it's own kind of pressure compared to when he was captain. But he played well last time in Aus, think he will do again
 
He will come good. I have a feeling this tour he is going to smash records. While his toxic detractors will be playing Mickey mouse T20 leagues
 
Babar's extra burden of captaincy is off his shoulders now. He should come good on this tour or else people are gonna rate him as another random player who came and shined for a good 3-4 years and then just vanished.
 
Babar Azam scored 40 runs before Jordan Buckingham got him out caught behind. Should have stayed on the for a longer time.
 
Another soft dimsissal from Babar. He has gotten out a few times like this now. If the Aussies keep a leg slip he will have a tough time. But I still think he will do well this series without the burden of captaincy and the meda pressure.
 
This myth will also be shattered that captaincy weighed on Babar's captaincy. Captaincy actually elevated his batting.

No inning from Pakistani batter in tests in Australia is impactful. Our bowlers can't take 20 wickets. Have seen this movie way too many times now.
 
It’s good that Shan has so much respect for Babar and considers him a leader. Such a healthy team dug out atmosphere will help team perform well too.

But they can draw the test . Pakistan hasn't draw a single test post 1999 .
 
Babar has no burden of captaincy on his shoulders now. He should be going wild in batting and be the batter he was supposed to be.
 
Shadab Khan in a latest interview has sent best wishes to Babar Azam for his post captaincy tenure and has shown a great desire to work with new captains

Shan Masood 3.0= Shan after becoming captain.

Let’s see who changes for the better first. Shan a double ton in Vs a PM XI after his metamorphosis,but can he translate it to international?

Babar in Sha Allah will go on an incredible run and become fab 1.
 
Australia is a decent place to score runs. I expect Babar to score a few tons. He is and will remain a quality bat. No matter the circumstances.

Babar's the only class player Pak has.

Wondering if there is still the same amount or more pressure on Babar after resigning from captaincy, as now everyone is expecting him to perform and get back to his best with the bat.

Having said that, he's had that pressure as our best batter for years. Hopefully he's back to hitting tons.

Yep, performance pressure is there now after getting rid of the extra burden of captaincy. Hopefully, he will become a world-class batter again and find his form back.

A double from Azhar Ali couldn't do it. Don't know if Babar on his own can do it. Need others to step up as well.
 
I think he may struggle in Australia. He played well last time and should have got 2 100s in 3 tests, so he has the game to succeed. But it's noticeable how many soft dismissals he seems to have had and that shows a drop in concentration

Bat as selfishly as possible without taking any risk. Just bat long with a big ton.
 
captain or no captain, Babar isn't going to change, he has regressed over the years. good batsmen are always busy improving their games. Babar is busy enjoying the fame.
 
Feels like Babar is still feeling the pressure because the shot that he played and got out on was a nothing shot. A tail-ender like stuff TBH. Not good

Maybe he's feeling additional pressure as everyone's expecting him to do perform well.
 
What can I say?

I have stopped expecting from babar . He's no better than any other Pakistan batsman now. Another nothing innings in what will probably be another nothing tour for him.

Thoroughly disappointed.

If anyone considers as one of the best batsman then he should absorb the expectation pressure and perform well .babar is yet to play impactful test innings outside the subcontinent .still 5 innings left so let's see he can deliver or not .
 
He'll be under more pressure to perform now. Can't have excuse of captaincy burden and arguments like if Babar fails wickets will fall like deck of cards. That's Shan's job now.

I feel he'll do similar to what he has done so far in his career. Score decent runs with once in a blue moon impactful inning here and there.
That's his ceiling. In fact one or another less skilled Pak batters may outshine him more than often.

Not everyone can bat like Younis Khan and so called ‘Pakistan’ fans criticised him to.

Babar’s going through a lean patch and needs to find his confidence again, in a terrible habit of getting starts and not building on them.
