Why is Ramiz Raja not getting any blame for this downfall? The man singlehandedly messed with the mind of Pakistan’s most decent batting prospect by telling him he is the Bradman of this era. Babar believed it, because it worked for him and his management company.
 
Babar has proven once again to be an overated, overhyped, flat track minnow basher. :ROFLMAO: (y) . Three more failures to go against this quality Australian Attack.(y):ROFLMAO::D;)
 
Let’s all blame Zaka Ashraf and his PCB management for removing Babar from captaincy due to a conspiracy against him.

But let’s not blame Ramiz Raja for giving this man a completely free hand, and all the tools that he needs to dig the hole that he has found himself in today.

You can’t suddenly start making rules. Why didn’t Rizwan go through County or red ball cricket when he was going through a rough patch? Yet everyone was waiting for any opportunity to sneak him back into the side

If Aus wins this one then series is dead after that. I have not seen Babar playing big meaningful knock any time outside of roads of Pakistan. Today, it was set up for him , needed to make a big ton and help Pakistan with 100 plus lead.

Ijaz was a gutsy player. He wasn't in the league of Anwar or inzi in the 90s but his ability to score hard runs was arguably better than those legends. Aussies really respect him for his performances against them in the 90s both in Australia and in Pakistan

The curious case of Babar is, no match winning performances against the big full strength Test Teams at home or away.

Same applies to ODI and T20s.

The least said about his performance and results as a captain the better.
 
A complete disappointment he has been, this was meant to be his prime tour yet he has failed miserably, relieved from captaincy we were of the belief that he will carry the batting rather its been completely opposite , Babar is proving to be a liability
 
The criticism is high only because he was hyped, he will come good just not as much as the fans expect.

He just had to contribute a bit here and Pakistan could have won first time in Aus in decades. I have not seen him standing up anytime in big stage.

Now series is done and dusted. We may see some runs in the last match.

I think a certain flaw in his technique has been exposed by the Aussie bowlers in this series. He will go back and work on it I’m sure and come out a better batsman.

Not just about this series, I am disappointed with his contributions whenever Pakistan plays away from home. Pretty much every away tour, some one else from Pakistan is the main contributor.

Series is done and dusted so for me SCG means a lot less.

Yes, given Pakistan's history of 16-17 losses in Aus, it can be meaningful to get a draw. But I wanted to see some big score when series was alive.
 
He started off very nervous, but batted well. He got an absolute beauty that used his weakness( of incoming ball) to clean bowl him.

You guys are over analyzing too much. The dude simply can't handle quality pace, it's as simple as that. Don't burden him with over expectation. He isn't worth it.

Now, you are not going to get Pakistani highways to bat all the time. Those are the only ones with nothing for spin or pace.

Even on those highways he batted like a jobber against Wood last year. That was embarrassing to watch. He is almost equally pathetic against quality pace & spin. But the difference is due to his lack of power & extremely limited range of strokes he simply comes off as a one eyed dear against fast bowling whereas against spin he may occasionally try to attack or dominate.
With the way modern white ball formats are moving so fast & aggressively a mediocre dude like Babar eventually will become completely useless if not he has already become. At the same time due to his ametuerish technique as well as extremely poor fitness & endurance he doesn't have a bright future in red ball format either.
In short, unless he is provided unlimited supply of Uganda, Nepal, Mongolia as oppositions he is going to fail & embarrass his fanclub again & again.
 
Babars got a clear flaw in his technique: he leaves a massive gap between bat and pad against the inswinging delivery. This has been cruelly exposed by the Aussies in this series. Things won't get any easier for him in test cricket against the more accomplished sides.
The positive is that I'm sure he's already recognised this and is working hard to rectify it, it was already apparent in the second innings of this test that he was trying to reduce the gap between bat and pad.
Both the deliveries by Cummins and Hazlewood were good, but not exceptional like they were made out to be, they just exposed that flaw in an otherwise compact technique.

If his average in Australia remains around 30, he won't be remembered as great, thats the long and short of it.
 
Overhyped and overated minnow basher and flat track bully once again exposed against any quality bowling attack. This was the opportune time to make a name for himself against the powerful Auss bowling line up. He failed as I had expected.

2023 is a year to forget for Babar.
 
Former England captain Nasser Hussain stated, as quoted in a video uploaded by the ICC:

"Another one, they are often compared. Babar Azam. I think it is a massive year for him and Pakistan. He has given up captaincy, that may be the weight off his shoulders. The biggest thing he can do for Pakistan cricket is get shed load of runs. They need him to get runs. There will be a T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. They got to the finals last time. They will need their ex-skipper to put in a real performance."
 
Babar's test career will end like Asad Shafiq if he doesn't improve his technical skills. He also needs to be mentally strong against top bowling, this is his 52nd test match and still he plays like a newbie. After playing so many matches you must learn to negate any kind of bowling attack irrespective of conditions.
 
It's strange to see that Aamer Jamal has more runs than Babar in this series. I had expected Babar to play much better after having the burden of captaincy removed from his shoulders but I guess not.
 
Australia has shown him his place. All major teams after doing extensive homework on him compared to the start of his career have started making easy work of him.

Not long before the lack of proper consistent impactful performances lead to the selectors dropping him just like what finally happened to Mohd Amir in 2018, you can only play on hype, reputation, perceived potential for so long.

Indeed but that’s a topic for another day. I think DRS got it wrong today as the ball had hit Babar on the leg stump when u watch it real time and it was sliding down but the DRS showed the impact on middle stump, something really wrong there !!!

It’s the same thing with almost every Pakistani player where they come out amazing and then teams prepare against them and then they fail to improve their game.

He is living in the PR era. After watching how Kohli , MSD built a multimillion brand value which indirectly helped BCCI they are trying to build a similar brand for him. So many bots are still sharing random stats, videos of Babar to keep the hype going. Even if he scores 10 ducks in a row the hype won't stop. The thing is Babar have no personality either on the field or off the field. The hype is here to stay until he hits rock bottom and gets dropped.

Nah, he averages 70 plus in Pakistan. Yah, most of those runs are not useful due to super flat wickets and getting out batted by others, but you are not going to get dropped with those stats.
 
Babar Azam survived a close call on review. This is make or break innings for him now. should make it a big one.

I'm convinced now he doesn't have the mentality to compete among the best.

He may very well score loads of runs in home series or against mid teams but he won't win you matches against big teams or in the most difficult of situations.

Maybe but I think mentally that's his ceiling. He has never been up there showing fight in the most difficult or situations. 2023 was his best chance to do so at a world stage. We failed many times.

Don't think he will be dominating even he gets another opportunity.

Watched few overs when Saim was playing well. Babar looked all at sea. Getting troubled by both seamers and spinners.

If PCB wants Pakistan to improve, they can also ask the establishment in Pakistan to ban Twitter or ban cricket journalists from using their name. These journos and the pressure they put on the PCB does Too much damage, they also destroy players with unreal hype and comparisons

These days every cricket board tailor the pitches based on the strength of their team. You find seaming, bouncy & fast tracks in SENA and rank turners with low bounce in India, SL Bang. PCB is actually worst in utilizing home advantage as they actually provide ROADS which are neither good for home team nor visiting team. But since Eng & Aus believe in producing results they defeated Pak in Pak by playing aggressively and with bold decisions. Pakistan can only win in Pakistan if they produce spin friendly tracks, may be I am wrong but I don't think it's possible to produce tracks suitable for fast bowling in Asia. Babar has to improve his game by playing wherever he gets opportunities and at the same time he should ask his PR agencies to stop publicity campaigns on social media
 
Your FC average is usually a good predictor of your likelihood of Test success.

Babar's FC avg when he debuted was in the late 30s. His Test avg is high now thanks to Rambo's Highways - but I wouldn't be surprised if it dwindles from 46 now to 40-41.

Last 5 years in India some Indian pacers have done well,

Shami - avg 19
Umesh - Avg 20
Sharma - Avg 23
Bumrah - Avg 15


SL has also produced some good pitches recently where pacers have done well. It may not be green Mamba like SA, but you just need to avoid putting super flat pitches where neither spin nor pace can do anything. Pakistan should back the bowlers to do well in home conditions and no need to put roads for visiting teams. I mean, what purpose it serves, yes Babar can average 70 plus on those roads, but it resulted in no test win at home against Eng, NZ and Aus.

Indian pacers have no doubt improved a lot in all conditions in last 5-6 years. They are far more accurate with good variations plus their fitness looks much better. Pakistan has created good wickets in home series against South Africa in 2021 when they won both test matches at Karachi & Pindi and in that pacers & spinners all bowled really well. I don't know why PCB has created flat roads in home series against Aus, Eng & NZ which neither helped pacers nor spinners. The point is they need to make balance wickets to ensure fair contest between bat & ball

In the Sri Lanka. Bangladesh 2020 series and South Africa 2021 series, the PCB was headed by Ehsan Mani, Wasim Khan. These individuals were more daring who allowed the curators to create sporting tracks for both teams.

The PCB was headed by that Buffoon Ramiz who gave instructions to produce flat roads for the 2022 Australian, England and 2023 NZ series.

The guy has neither any personality nor charisma & absolutely terrible at articulating. But as @Buffet has clearly explained he is undroppable due to those inflated numbers courtesy of years long hapless minnow bashing. At this stage he is become nothing but a gimmick that his PR & stooges like Rambo parade around everywhere.

Ya, I forgot about it when posting. So even Pakistan has produced good wickets in the last 5 years. Not sure producing super dead wicket is a good idea for team like Pakistan. Good batting units will simply out-bat Pakistan. Pakistan should bank it's bowlers and create result oriented pitches even when playing against top teams.

This is not the only issue with Babar. He needs to score runs everywhere, not just the Asian conditions. He cannot be regarded as the great one if he underperforms everywhere else expect in Pakistan. Averages might not matter more than scoring runs in each country.

This lady commentator urooj was constantly hyping him in the ENgland series. Kept saying "Fab 5". Something that exists only in the echo chamber of Babar fans. She was saying this when Harry Brook was absolutely destroying the bowling on the same pitch.

Babar Azam's Test average fluctuates like a sine wave before and after home/away tours.

5 Jan 2022: 42 Avg.
After that, he played 8 Tests in Pakistan and his average jumped to 49.74 Avg on 5 Jan 2023
After that, he played 5 Tests away from home and his average dropped to 45.8 Avg on 5 Jan 2024.
 
Due to his poor show in the recently concluded 3-Test match series against Australia, in the latest ICC Ranking, Babar Azam has dropped 2 places to be placed at the number 8 spot in the ICC Test Batting rankings. This decline is getting bad day by day now.
 
Former Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja says Babar Azam has some technical issues in his batting which he needs to address:


"As far as I have seen of Babar, when he has a slump or something, he gets a bit stuck there for long. There are some technical reasons as well, in Australia, he wasn't getting fully forward and was playing from the crease,"

"Because he is picking length a bit later, then he is a bit stuck where the ball will go. There is brilliance in patches, the brilliant package that he is we haven't seen that."

"So he has to get out of this, he gets nervous. I think he has to work on his footwork, technique and should look to spend some time on the crease."

"I do think sometimes he tries to play too many shots, because then you are confused. To break the shackles, you look to attack but then get out doing it. And when you look to defend only and then get out, again you're stuck."
 
Yet another 50 for Babar azam in T20I. Looking in good touch now.
