[PICTURES] "I never compromise on my pace" : Ashok Dinda

I knew some Indian fans back in 2015, they seriously believed that this guy is as good as Wahab, if not better.
:jimmy

I just saw some comments in Match Thread so checked the scorecard... and found this. :murali

19.3 Dinda to HH Pandya, SIX
19.4 Dinda to HH Pandya, FOUR

What is going on...

They took the mickey out of his new “ashok dinda pace academy” by posting some light hearted comments on twitter.

Trolling the player is fine but talking smack about his family is just too low. People are too anonymous on social media hence they talk crap and they know no one can do anything about it. It happens way too often.

Couldn't agree more.

Wait what happened? Can you share the particular tweet or is it deleted?

The concerned tweet didnt mention anything about family. It was light hearted and dindas reactiom is actually over the top here.

Don't think he's talking about the tweet specifically. I think he's just talking about the general public.

It's been deleted but basically during this IPL there's been a bit of a trend where pace bowlers who bowl badly would be asked sarcastically "have you been attending the Dinda Pace Academy or something?" Fans were making such comments about RCB bowlers Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj after every bad performance.

Then when Umesh had a good game RCB posted a tweet with Umesh Yadav's image stating "Dinda academy? What's that?" .

Dinda then posted up his T20 stats and generally moaned a lot.

Fast bowler Ashok Dinda has been dropped from Bengal’s Ranji Trophy ahead of their tie against Andhra Pradesh for misconduct involving bowling coach Ranadeb Bose, whom he abused after a pre-match practice session. As per a source within the Cricket Association of Bengal, Dinda was given time till evening to apologise, but the pacer decided otherwise.

He abused Ranadeb Bose. The CAB secretary requested him to apologise but he didn’t. It was very unfortunate. It shouldn’t have happened. A senior player like him… we desperately needed him for this game. He was ideally suited for this pitch (a green surface) and our planning. I left a little early after practice today and when I reached home, I got to know what happened. (Now) the entire planning is disturbed. Then again, the game goes on. Nobody is indispensable. Certainly I support the CAB’s decision,” Bengal coach Arun Lal told The Indian Express.

Apparently, Dinda lost it when he saw Bose having a conversation with captain Abhimanyu Easwaran in private. It is also being reported that Dinda had a fallout with coach Lal and chief selector Palash Nandy during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

“He (Dinda) is not in the team and we don’t want to say anything further at this stage. It might lead to unnecessary talks, especially when Bengal are playing a match from tomorrow. So our entire focus is on the match and we don’t want any kind of distraction,” CAB secretary Avishek Dalmiya told Express. “We won our previous match (against Kerala). So at this stage we want to focus on the team’s performance.”

With Dinda not around and Bengal refusing to name a replacement, a choice will have to be made between Akash Deep, Baddupalli Amit, Ishan Porel and Mukesh Kumar if they are to play four seamers.

“We will have to play in a way that we don’t feel the need of an extra batsman. We have to be aggressive,” Lal said after the training session.

Veteran pacer Ashok Dinda announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Tuesday. In a career spanning 15 years, Dinda picked 420 wickets in 116 first-class matches. Recently Dinda played three games for his new team Goa in the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Unfortunately, he missed the last two games due to a knee injury.

Dinda cited the knee injury and his age, as the reason behind his retirement.

“I injured my knee which is why I didn’t play the last two matches. My body wasn’t permitting. I still have swelling in my knee. I can’t run. Also, I am 37. As a fast bowler, 37 is a lot. Otherwise, there is no reason why I should have quit. My body is not permitting,” Dinda told IANS.

The 36-year-old played 13 ODIs for India in which he claimed 12 wickets. While he also represented the Men in Blue in 9 T20Is and picked 17 wickets.

“I have already not played for a season. My body was inactive. If I don’t play more, it will be difficult and there won’t be much fun at 38. What I want is that instead of me, some junior should play. That will be better. There are many options,” said Dinda.

“Today, I am retiring from all formats of cricket. I have sent the mails to BCCI and GCA to this effect,” Dinda said during a media interaction at Eden Gardens.

The former Bengal pacer thanked current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly for giving him a debut match against Maharashtra at Pune in the 2005-06 season.

“There have been several people who have helped me throughout my career whom I would like to thank beginning with my parents.

“Then it’s Dada (Sourav Ganguly). It was because of him that I got to play for Bengal. I was not in the squad but he included me as a 16th member and handed me a debut,” Dinda remembered.

Dinda also had a rich experience of playing in the Indian Premier League as he represented Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors, Rising Pune Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In 78 IPL games, Dinda picked up 68 wickets at a strike rate of 22.20 and an economy rate of 8.22, with his best figures being 4/18.

Dinda said he is open to the coaching opening option and is in contact with Goa Cricket Association and Cricket Association of Bengal regarding the same.

“Coaching is an option. I am talking to the Goa Cricket Association also. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Avishek Dalmiya has also offered me an opportunity to help in talent hunt for Bengal. He asked me to join next week. But I have not thought of it as yet. Want to spend some time with the family,” he said.

Veteran Indian pacer Ashoke Dinda announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Tuesday. Though his India career didn't last long, the pacer from Bengal did make a few friends from across the border while playing for India.

Dinda's career in the national team only lasted for 21 ODIs but these many matches were enough for him to play against the Pakistan cricket team, a contest that many modern-day cricketers can only crave for.

"Players from both nations catch up with each other after the match. But while on the field, they act as if they don’t know their compatriots. This is one thing which I really liked about India-Pakistan contests," he said.

The India-Pakistan rivalry remains one of the biggest in the sport but such matches are now only limited to ICC and multi-team tournaments. Speaking of the experience of playing against the Pakistan national team, Dinda said that such matches felt like 'going for a war'.

"It was a different experience. Since childhood, I have seen India-Pakistan matches as really feisty and competitive encounters. And here, I have played quite a few matches against Pakistan.

"It is a different experience, different ball game altogether, different one-on-one contests, going into India-Pakistan matches feel like going to war. No team wants to lose, hence a different motivation seeps into the entire squad."

While no fan can forget the on-field duels between Indian and Pakistani players, many players are friends off the field. Dinda also claimed to have had friendly terms with many cricketers including Shahid Afridi.

"I have many friends from the Pakistan team. Mohammad Hafeez knows me really well, we are good friends. Players who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2008 like Salman Butt, Umar Gul, Shoaib Akhtar, everybody knows me. In fact, while playing for India, I used to interact with Shahid Afridi as well,” Dinda added.

Dinda's international career might not be celebrated as much but in domestic cricket, he remains a superstar. With 420 First-Class wickets from 116 matches, the speedster has done wonders for Bengal over the years.
