Karachi Kings XI: LMP Simmons, JM Vince, Shakib Al Hasan, Shoaib Malik*, Iftikhar Ahmed, RS Bopara, Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Amir, Usama Mir, Saifullah Bangash†
Islamabad innings: For a change the team batting first started positively. Sharjeel and Latif marshaling their team to a very good score of 75 after 11, After that it was a different story, and the innings ended with a calamitous collapse with some shoddy running and poor stroke play. Islamabad, in danger of being bundled for a low total somehow managed 132/8 after some lusty blows from Sami, leaving their bowlers an awful lot to do yet again.
FOW:
1-31 (Watson, 4.1 ov)
2-76 (Sharjeel Khan, 11.2 ov)
3-89 (Ashar Zaidi, 13.6 ov)
4-91 (Russell, 14.6 ov)
5-91 (Khalid Latif, 15.1 ov)
6-95 (Billings, 15.3 ov)
7-111 (Misbah-ul-Haq, 17.6 ov)
8-123 (Imran Khalid, 19.3 ov)
Karachi innings: If this was the start Islamabad were looking for after a dire batting performance then they got the reaction they wanted. Their bowling was superb against a powerful batting lineup. The key to defending the total was regular wickets which they got along with keeping the run flow at a minimum. Ajmal gave a very good performance and Karachi looked lost after Shakib's wicket and Tanvir's run out and were reeling at 90/8. There was a late Bopara rally as he smashed a few boundaries and helped take the game to the final over. To his dismay however he was left stranded on the non-striker's end till the last two balls, when he did get the strike he smashed a six off Shane Watson and left his team needing a boundary off the last ball. Islamabad however sneaked through after a thrilling finish and won the only evenly match so far in the PSL!
FOW:
1-2 (Simmons, 1.4 ov)
2-3 (Vince, 3.1 ov)
3-35 (Imad Wasim, 6.1 ov)
4-40 (Shoaib Malik, 7.3 ov)
5-71 (Iftikhar Ahmed, 12.5 ov)
6-86 (Shakib Al Hasan, 14.4 ov)
7-87 (Saifullah Bangash, 14.6 ov)
8-90 (Sohail Tanvir, 16.1 ov)
9-118 (Usama Mir, 18.6 ov)
Match summary: A fantastic comeback by United against a powerful Karachi lineup and one which should give them a lot of confidence and the first match which wen tinto the last over! They now have a big win under their belt and a result which leaves only Lahore without a win. For Karachi they will be disappointed by losing eight wickets before 100 runs, however they have shown they still possess some excellent hitters which should stand them in good stead.
