This menu is worth a thread at PP :inzi

Tourists can't complain about food.

I mean take a look at it https://i.imgur.com/TmJkbZo.png

That's a surprise, I thought it would look more like this:

Starters: Vijay, Rahul, Pujara on toast

Mains: Kohli, Rahane and Pandya grilled and served on a plate

Dessert: Karthik, Ashwin and Yadav creamed and dusted with a light battering

England might be drubbing India, but they can't beat desi food. Even the south Indian version which is the poor relation to our own Pakistani/Mughlai cuisine.

Indian food uses a lot of coconut oil, it's something I can never get used to because it overpowers any taste.

This is what foreigners don't understand about India. You can't generalize due to diversity.

That's south India where coconut oil is used.

North Indians never use coconut oil in foods unless it's some special rare dish which does a need of "south" flavor.

I myself hate foods when it has coconut oil.

Now i am wondering how food tastes with coconut oil. So far we have a Pakistani and an Indian both discrediting it, now we need a patriotic Indian to fight the corner for the maligned ingredient.

Lolz indian food varies from kashmir to tamil naidu and from gujrat to arunachal pradesh seriously. Its never same through out india.

All the more reason for India to be divided into various countries on cultural differences where every region can represent it's own unique culture instead of being wrapped under the umbrella term Indian.

I would have done it but sadly never tasted it. Not sure my fellow jingo brother CC has ever had it either.

Generally ghee, refined, groundnut oil, olive oil are used to prepare Indian foods. I think Cocunut oil is used in some South Indian dishes.

Never seen a country divided on the basis of food? This must be a first in this world. :inti

We, the people of Kerala (the land of coconuts) uses coconut in almost everything. Our life and culture starts and ends with coconut. It's hard to live without them tbh.

In my village here in Malappuram (a district in northern Kerala), almost everyone makes their own coconut oil by drying the copra and grinding it in the mill. We don't buy it from the stores.

Lots of ignorant posts in this thread.

Only Kerala cuisine uses coconut oil.

Andhra and Karnataka cuisine uses groundnut or sunflower oil.

Such shameful ignorance of south India and its people:facepalm:

You linked this chawal food of this city to punjabi diet. Punjabis hardly eat chawal. Except rajma chaawal ,probably once ina week or one in even month ,nobody eats chawal in daily diet in punjab.its just once in a while food

Khichdi

Punjabis eat roti more than rice. Kashmiris eat more rice and introduced rice to Punjabis. Rajma rice is a Kashmiri staple.

Nope chawal is very rare thing in punjabi diet. Its either gonna be choley chawal or curry chawal etc etc but that also only once in a week ,most of the times. You wont get all chawal dishes in punjabi diet at all.
Punjabis eat chapati and paranthe or chollay bhature or chicken dishes or makki roti ....etc things.

What Bhaag Inzi Bhaag said.

Nobody eats chawal in punjab. Its once in a while thing. I am surprised that you being from neighbouring state dnt know about this.
You give chawal to a punjabi guy two times in a row and then see his reaction. Its gonna be worth watchable.

Rajma Chawal - Once Per Week
Choley Chawal - Once Per Week
Pulao - Once Per Week
Choley Bhature - Twice/Thrice Per Week

Rest of the time they eat roti, paratha, naan, normal sabzis, chicken, saag in winters and bhandare ki aloo puri. :inti

But our rajasthani brother can eat Daal Baati and Churma three times a day.

Yes most of tge things you get it right.chawal is a very rare thing in diet. And there are few families who wud only give you chawal, chapatis wud most of the times be there as an option. Although i love only pulao and hate other rice like everything ,cant even eat rajma rice or curry rice.

Paranthas are national breakfast for punjabis with a big glass of milk and butter or curd.

But our rajasthani brother can eat Daal Baati and Churma three times a day.

Yeah i guess he is getting himself in not so good places in delhi.there are some good places and societies to live ,to get good food and people in delhi.

Have you tried eating Rajasthani Thali or Gujrati Thali? If yes, how do you compare it to Amritsari Thali? :inti

Nice menu.

But I can never understand why people eat boring veggie dishes.

Some people disagree with the slaughter of animals for human food, so they are ethical vegetarians or vegans and therefore they might eat the veggie dishes.

I have never heard about rajasthani thaali to be honest. Dnt remember if i have seen something like this on any eating menu .i have heard rajasthani masalas are world famous though . Or we have to go especially to those places which serve these thaalis.
Gujrati thali i have tried ,dokla and handva like food. It was quite good. We like it as our evening snacks.
Not sure how it will make my stomach full..

I really dont understand their logic. Are they also offended when a lion eats a buffalo?

I eat fresh vegetables not the veg curries but of course everyone has their own tastes.

You can't be punjabi if you don't like qeema (ground beef).

Lolz you cant be punkabi if you dnt know about mehmaan baaji and how to make your guests comfotable with warmth and good food which they like.
Nobody not even 0.001 percent of indian punjabis eat beef at all.

Although i am also a non vegetarian but your logics are just like what are expected.
Its like why dnt you kill people ? Dnt you get offended when a criminal kills a human? So should you also go and kill a person.
A vegetarian belief is as simple they give a lot of importance to life or living beings. They think animals have right to live as humans. And if humans have options to not kill them ,so let it be. And its also more and more scientific studies coming out with time to time that vegetarian food only is good for health in long term.

I guess the difference is that human beings (in the developed world anyway) have a choice over what they eat. The ability to make a moral choice is what makes humans different to all other animals.

Only if you consider it to be a moral issue which I dont.

Humans are very much different to animals in case you hadn't noticed.

That's what vegetarians belief is. Bingo.humans are very much different to animals. So behave like humans and not like animals.
As i said i am also a non vegtarian. ,although my family has decided to become vegetarian couple of years ago
I think we should not judge on food habits.

Rajasthani/Gujrati Thalis have 10-12 items in a plate. Yes you won't find them everywhere. You have to go to certain places to eat them. Rajasthani Thali is more spicier than the Gujrati ones. Gujrati ones even put sugar/sweet in sabzis. Never liked them at all. Dhokla is used as a snack in Punjabi families or as a special item on a table when guests come at home.

Amritsari Thali on the other hand will have 3-4 items like Cholay, Rice, Raita, Naan, Salad.

Are you suggesting eating meat means one is not behaving like a human? lol

Man its vegetatian belief.they simply belief that life is a life and god has made humans like they have choice to use hands to murder someone or to help some one. To kill and eat living beings or eat plant based food without hurting anyone.
You wont belief there are some religions in india like jainism or some other too where people even use the Muhapatti (a piece of cloth to cover mouth ) to avoid unwittingly kill the insects or living beings through the process of breathing.

Yeah. I would like to tase all this though. Spicier food is not bad ,especialy if you plan to take your women out for food. Our indian women love spicier food.
But i prefer to eat 3 or 4 at most different items. I cant eat 12 different items for my lunch. 3 or 4 items with variety is enough to eat .

You won't feel like eating after seeing all those 10-12 items in your congested thali. That was a huge put off for me. Amritsari Thali Zindabad. :bhajji :inti

The Board of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested Cricket Australia (CA) to remove beef from the Indian cricket team’s menu from the upcoming tour.

According to the Mumbai Mirror, an advance party from the BCCI that travelled to Australia two weeks ago to prep for the forthcoming November tour has recommended to CA that beef be struck off the team’s menu.

The request comes after India’s tour of England in August where the men in blue were served braised beef pasta as part of their lunch.

BCCI’s official twitter handle had tweeted a photo of the team’s lunch menu during the test match at Lord’s.

“A well-earned lunch for #TeamIndia,” the tweet mentioned.

Further, a source close to the inspection team informed that "Players often complain about the blandness of food served in Australia. There are a few vegetarians in the team who really struggle at the grounds.”

“The inspection team has also roped in an Indian restaurant in Australia to supply curries to the boys,” the source added.

An Indian team source added that players now pay attention to their diet in addition to playing cricket. “Earlier, players would even consume cheeseburgers while on tour. It has all changed.”

“Even if they indulge once-in-awhile, they are a highly disciplined lot during a series, which basically means minimum red meat,” the source said.

Fair enough. Just like how we muslims dont like to see pork in the menu, other people are also within their rights to ask for restrictions.

End of conversation.

I’m confused. Don’t cheeseburgers contain beef?

you are always required to treat your guests accordingly.

Its not about being a secular.

A Pakistani team touring a foreign country would want to make sure that the food they are getting is Halal and their isn't any pork on the menu because we get offended by it (people here get offended by its image, trust me)

The Indians have a fair request regarding beef.

Even a foriegn team planning to tour Pakistan, their should be vegetarian items if their are players who are vegetarians.

What if Shami/Khaleel get selected, should they be deprived of beef? Even Ravi Shastri is a beef eater, may be more in that group.

Highly offensive to serve Beef in a Buffet that includes many Sanatanis.

Highly insensitive but then again it’s MCC - the racist bigots of Cricket.

It’s ok I checked …

It’s the non sacred type of beef imported in from India ! Apparently it was for Mohammed Siraj to win the test for India as bumrah missing in the 2nd innings again.

Ok if that’s the case.
As long as vegetarian section of the food is kept completely separate i have no problem if any kind of beef is being served to those who like to eat.

I have eaten Beef myself but in Non Sanatani environments.

I agree with you. It could easily have been lamb or chicken.

Poor stuff from England.

This is called subtle racism.

To an ordinary liberal person who doesn’t mind bending the knee to British royals this is a non issue.

Our ancestors gave their life to oppose beef

Not poor. :inti

There are many who may eat beef. Why should they be excluded? This is England. Not India.

When I go to a western restaurant, I generally see non-halal meats. Do I complain? No. I simply choose the halal options (fish, veggie etc.).

You invite Muslims to your home, you’re gonna serve Pork to them in the Buffet?

This is not a restaurant.

This is international sports relations

You invite Indian cricket team
Knowing most of them are Sanatanis. Why would you serve Beef

Brother when you go to a restaurant you are not a tourist side or guest. They are not catering with you in mind you are a paying customer or patron. Here, India is visiting team or guest at Lords and Beef is a massive taboo for them. It's just basic manners and decency.

Look at how Asian countries treat Western touring teams as Royalty.

I think it is good that they have prepared many different options. Both Indians and non-Indians can enjoy.

As long as Veg and Non Veg buffet is kept at safe distance it’s ok.
