It'll be fine but they do drag their feet. Deadline was 28 February but still bits left

Why didn't they go for a major renovation? This was a chance for turning this into a modern stadium. Beneath the roof it is the same old concrete jungle.
 
Why did they not remove those poles obstructing spectators’ views? Could have installed cantilever frames to support the lighter Teflon roof. Also, much of the Teflon roof slants towards the ground. This means there’ll be more water pouring into the outfield/boundary area from the roof when it rains.

Apparently they have ordered water vacuum machine rollers, which will come in time in the future.
 
I remember this is the stadium that had Pepsi logos on all the stands when the crowds stayed away. Looks like that is now gone.
 
What has PCB been doing this past year? They better get at least 4 stadiums ready for next year.

What was Najam Sethi doing for the last 3 yrs he was PSL Chairman. Making his friends rich thats what he was doing. Mani came and he processed the NSK renovation process quicker.
 
Sethi had one job to do, yet he gave the job to Nespak and NLC which are supposedly corrupt. You have to wonder why he would do that, and if he was also part of that corruption...
 
Ehsan Mani. Has also given go ahead to make a new stadium in islamabad and also we will see a new PCB stadium in Karachi it will be 50 miles away from NSK. Supposedly it what ehsan mani has planed to do. Also other stadiums will get renovation soon.
 
It has cost the PCB a bomb to upgrade the National Stadium i.e. Rs 1 billion. It is not a cheap exercise, maybe the Pakistan Govt can help out here.
 
A billion rupees is close to $8 million USD (not taking current inflation exchange rate). That's a lot of money for seeing the renovation and timeline. Not hard for a little kid to say corruption. You can put a skeleton of a new stadium for that cost in Pakistan, I think.

Teflon fabric is here and being installed. Roof should you completed insha'Allah in a few days
 
Yeah, read somewhere the Teflon sheets have arrived and are being installed.
 
What is the advantage of having Teflon Sheets?
 
That electronic scoreboard is in the worst place. Absolutely moronic planning (here and in Lahore). Just put it where the old scoreboard used to be. It closes up an entire stand.

It was mentioned in one of the videos that that's exactly what they're planning to do after PSL. Whether it's soon after PSL or just before next PSL wasn't clarified.
 
People should Thanks Ehsan Mani. He is the reason Karachi Stadium is almost completed. He warned local authorities that if they didn’t take any actions, they will withdraw the pcb funds for the stadium. Also they have said they will review the expenses of the stadium after psl matches. Regarding the electronic board, it will be moved after psl. New teflon sheet were installed keeping in consideration how hot and humid it is in our part of the world, it allows fans natural air flowing through, although they should install fans, but mostly in australia u will find such teflon sheets in the stadiums.
 
They need to install lights inside the stands. What’s the point of having a jam packed stadium if you can’t see the crowd?
 
It will be very pathetic and ashaming if the roof is not completely installed. Doesn't seem like it will be before the matches start.
 
That old screen and scoreboard need to go too. Replace it with two new screens on each side, and put them higher up.
 
The roof will not be fully completed. Sad that the PCB was unable to complete it on time, they should not have left it at the last minute.

I'm literally out of words to describe the disgrace PCB is as an organization. Predictably pathetic.

I would give them some benefit of the doubt, was watching a news report and interviews of the engineers, getting the Teflon sheets from abroad is a big hassle, it takes months to get through the red tape to get it to Pakistan.
 
All Pak stadiums are embarrassing.. I would like to question where are all the PSL earnings going. We were being told PSL is earning millions just through tv rights. Well we haven't seen a dollar of that invested in domestics or development of stadiums. Probably helping to fatten the pockets of the officers of PCB. I think it was Misbah who made a video of a dressing room and posted on Twitter and it looked like a garbage dump.


PCB is absolutely pathetic and Ehsan Mani is a severely wrong selection by IK. Heck I'd be in favour of firing Mani and making Wasim Khan the main guy at PCB.

Lol, the PSL earnings have to be distributed to the Franchises, the PCB takes its share but isn't enough to upgrade the stadiums. Its cost the PCB Rs 1 billion to upgrade National Stadium. There are around 15-16 Cricket Stadiums in the country, the PCB will need Rs 16 billion to upgrade all of them starting today each, don't think the PCB has that kind of money.

Question is can the govt help the PCB out in this endeavor? Having the PSL in Pakistan is a sure shot boost to our economy and will definately attract Foreign Investors. Something for the govt to think about

The first thing that needs to go is the cages in front of the stands. Looks awful and gives a bad impression as well.
 
Stadium looks pretty good compared to last time..just one small section doesnt have a roof but then you can charge less for those seats perhaps..the majority of teh stadium is roofed...outfield looks pristine...camera and technical crew are doing a great job to get it ready..I just saw the latest report on ARY..
 
Looks like the Teflon sheets won't arrive in time after all.

Nothing like making an impression when you've been given a hefty contract by the PCB Chairman at the time, and not being able to get the basics done by now.
 
Why can't they just make a cheaper makeshift arrangement? Surely they can find some kind of alternative material here in Pakistan that they can use as a stop-gap solution?
 
Can anyone update about the roof situation?? Because if it isn't completed stadium will look ridiculous.
Plus what are other locations they can put the screen after PSL??

I don't know about that brother because of our awam some one will try to cross the boundary but yeah those cages gives bad impression.
 
They have officially failed to finish the roof, 2 vip sections, and bad screen placement. The fence should be replaced by glass.

That’s not the point. You can add spikes on the space between the stands and the boundary line. You can lower the fence which will deter ppl from invading the pitch. I remember pitches getting invade during ‘92, ‘96 and ‘99 World Cup, 2 of them were not held in sub continent. I didn’t see ACB or ECB dehumanising their fans.

Honestly poor stuff from PCB. Incompetent at its highest level. Hiring contractors who’s are known to be dogey. That’s cost cutting at its finest.

Looking at Pakistan stadium quality and facilities coupled with security and political situation, I can’t see Pakistan hosting a tourement for at least 30 years. Probably even never.

I remember in 99; they were mainly Pakistan fans.
 
They spent 1 billion rupees on this renovation, and 2 years almost. In 2 years a new stadium can be built and they couldn't even finish the renovation work.

Honestly, feel like they could have made it better. They need to add lights to the stands, one can hardly see the spectators on TV.

Also, need to remove those fences that make it look like people are watching the game in a prison. This is completely inhumane. I understand our awam can at times go nuts, but if they set stringent rules, over time I'm sure they will learn. The image of those fences with barbwire on them isn't what Pakistan needs to be showing to the world.
 
I think they have been working on roof. Anyone notice? Maybe will be complete before tomorrows game?
 
It took them one night to complete the roof :))

Means this was all mismanagement,could have been done way earlier.They had a year.:facepalm:

alot of rumors about it but i think a stern warning from pcb might have work after all there favorite najam sethi is not at helm anymore

It was pretty embarrassing that the roof was still incomplete and I am glad that the fans won't have to sit roofless in the scorching heat of today.Whatever it was it has worked.

So after the completion of roof is renovation completed or still something left which will be completed after PSL????
