[PICTURES] Rumman Raees after injury - Comeback Watch

Something not right with this.

Seems like yet another mess-up and botched job by the PCB medics.

Agree with you. Been almost a year since this injury

Not looking good for Rumman. Shows the incompetence of PCB to deal with knee injuries especially.

I have heard that Rumman has had to seek help and advice away from the PCB medics after they showed their incompetence once again. Keeps happening again and again, player after player has to seek help regarding their injuries away from the PCB doctors.

He's been missed. Good to see him back and picks up a wicket on his first over upon return!

He has developed a very useful slower ball bouncer, or it was already there (Im not so sure). Executed it quite well so far.

HBL PSL gave me fame and name, admits Rumman Raees

Sharjah, 24 February 2019:

Left-arm fast bowler Rumman Raees was famous in Karachi cricketing circles as someone who had the best slower one, a delivery with which he would beguile the best of batsmen at club level.

That trait caught the eyes of the Karachi selectors. The hard working paceman made initial strides for Islamabad United at the inaugural HBL PSL in 2016. He managed four wickets in eight games but showed great variety in his bowling.

It was in the 2017 edition that Rumman made his presence felt, taking 12 wicket in seven matches.

“To be honest, PSL gave me name and fame,” recalls Rumman. “When I played my first game, people got to know about my name that there is someone named Rumman who has bowled well.

“I have benefited from the PSL. It is good for young players. I was lucky to be picked up by Islamabad and they supported me in good and bad times. In the first season, Wasim Akram helped me a lot in maturing as a fast bowler and now we have Waqar Younis who is also a big help."

That HBL PSL 2 helped him break into the Pakistan team on the tour to the West Indies in 2017.

He was initially left out of the ICC Champions Trophy squad, but an injury to Wahab Riaz gave him a surprise call. He took two valuable wickets in the semi-final against England on way to the final where Pakistan beat India.

Rumman got injured in last year's HBL PSL. He was sidelined for nearly a year. He has, thus, staged a comeback in this year’s HBL PSL.

“I am feeling well. I played the last match and had a good feeling. The body has responded well. There are no niggles and no fatigue. My focus is to perform well and regain my place in future,” vowed Rumman.

Rumman admitted a long injury lay-off was frustrating.

“To be honest, I missed cricket because this is my bread and butter. I was emotional when I played my first match that I was coming after a year. It was a tough time.

“I want to say when times are tough, one needs to be positive. There were negative thoughts in my mind that whether my career will revive or not. But, if you are positive then Allah helps. Islamabad management helped me in these tough times.”

Rumman said Islamabd United – twice champions of HBL PSL – are an exemplary unit.

“Islamabad camp is very simple and cordial,” said Rumman of the 2016 and 2018 champions. “We do not press the panic button. We keep it simple. Every year, we aim at being positive.

“We never blame anyone for the defeat. If we lose, we lose as a team and win as a team. That’s why the atmosphere is great in the dressing room. The management is good and we support each other.

“We enjoy each other’s company and with that we aim we are going to defend our title.”

Rumman targets a return to Pakistan colours.

“I am hopeful that once I do well in this year’s HBL PSL, then I would be able to regain my place. I don't put pressure on myself. If I do well I will be in the World Cup 2019 squad and the aim and thoughts are positive.

Another case of messed-up rehab and recovery from an injury.

Misses out on the 23 man provisional squad for the World Cup.

How can Pakistan compete in the world if we can’t even diagnose injury’s

We are such a joke!

Club sides are more professional then us.

I wonder how is his progress going and are we gonna see him just in PSL or he will return to qll formats in domestic cricket.

Treatment and rehab messed up by PCB again.

Yea just blame everything on pcb and coaches!

Its time players took responsibility for themselves and instead on relying everything on pcb and coaches

He's a cricketer, not a doctor. The PCB doctor's and physios are responsible for thee recovery of players. Yes if there is the odd case of a player not recovering then you can say the individual didn't put enough effort into the exercises and routine they were advised with, but the fact that so many players injuries turn worse after seeing PCB medics indicates there is something wrong with the medics themselves.

Again blame PCB, the players should seek independent advice from other doctors.

If i suffer a injury, i will not just rely on my employers doctors.

Even before i get injured, i will put effort into strength and fitness training to limit my injury.

If something is not working with my employers doctors advice, than i will raise issues with this.

The PCB doctors should be the best sports doctors in the country, that's what the players think, eventually some players go to other doctors once the PCB medics have messed up.

Ofcourse the players strengthen to limit injury, but the reality of fast bowling is that even if you are the fittest man on Earth, you will still get injured at some point. Apparently a pace bowler bowling at 130kph has the same amount of force go trhough him as a minor car crash, every single ball.

When I got a back injury I was refferred to a sports doctor that works with many cricketers and is associated with Auckland cricket and other sporting codes, and as expected he was very good as the top sporting bodies will want to have the best people for the job to treat their players. The players in Pakistan expect the same from the PCB and find out the reality when their recovery has been ruined.

If the players are breaking down, is there evidence that the advice given was not up to standards?

All fast bowlers break down at some point, and many breakdown multiple times. The worrying thing is that the PCB medics, sports medicine professionals who should be the best in the country, aren't doing their job well. Either they are diagnosing wrong, or they are rushing the players back in, or are taking too long in which case the player might take it upon himself to recover quickly and make it worse.

Again how do you know this information? Is there any published comments, interviews given to support your theory?

The PCB medics stop the players from seeking outside help, yet don't get the treatment done correctly themselves.

How do PCB medics stop the players? Are the bound in their contracts that they can not seek outside advice or choose their own medics etc ? if they have no faith in the doctors that they are assigned?

Again players to blame because the players should revolt and take a hard line.

Life is not fair, never is and never was or will be. You just can't blame people.

The medics don't treat the players injuries properly and if the players go elsewhere for treatment they report them to PCB.

I have heard Rumman Raees have also concentrated on his batting. So we might see some hitting from him this time as well

Rumman Raees speaking to the media today:

"I am completely fit and available for the full PSL season. As soon as I get an opportunity, I will prove that I am totally fit. I am working on improving my fitness and performance even more"

I worry about these guys who are unfit for many months and then suddenly they are fit for the PSL.

His last over was pretty good.

It's clear he's not 100% fit though. It's a shame teams pick unfit players over players who are fully fit.

Giving the pressure situation he was in he bowled a very good last over despite the no ball how ever he is coming back so he will get better for sure he is skillful

Rumman Raees breathing fire in WCL 2025, claimed 3 wickets while conceding only 4 runs in 3 overs against West Indies Champions

Another unlucky case for Pakistan alongside Haris Sohail.

Such a smart and skilled bowler.
