Are there pictures that make you proud of your photography skills? Please share them here. Here's a flukey picture I took that came out surprisingly good. Highlights the beautiful mother-child relationship.

Not mine.

A friend and I had to do a feature. He does the photography, I do the leg work.

Still a project that was well appreciated.

His skill has improved over time and now he looks at these and laughs at the mistakes he made in these pictures.

I find them interesting, not just because of the quality of images, but the afterthought and the imagination that we had behind them. Also, if you really look into the eyes of this man selling "gol gappay" or "paani puree" you can see so many dreams - unfulfilled dreams.

You seem to have a good knowledge about this. A questio bro, is adding effects by editing looked down upon in photography community like auto-tune is frowned upon in singing?

I faded the corners slightly in my picture above, but now I think I should have kept it raw.

^ Mention the place after the pic too. That'll be better.

Liberty Market - Lahore (Pakistan)

somewhere around 2010

1. Most photographers (good ones, not just those who happen to have a DSLR), take pictures in raw format and save the original.

2. Almost everyone I know, edits their pictures. Sharpening, color congestion settings and other things are adjusted accordingly.

3. It isn't frowned upon if it is upto a certain level. The authenticity of the picture must remain for it to be considered as a good picture. Digital make-up is acceptable, digital make-over isn't.

Hope this helps.

street cricketer bro, since you liked it, do you think this raw version looks better than the one I posted in the OP?

I am a ganwaar when it comes to understand photography, but how can these pictures not be professional?

How do you even better this? :O

Have you been to Hunza ? How was it and if I was a tourist, would it be safe to go ?

Yes I have been to all those places and it was fun. Actually, it is a must see for all people who have a chance to go there.

I never felt any kind of danger and it felt absolutely safe.

Knowing Pakistan though, and lately the world, no place is perfectly safe anymore. So I won't say it is safe but I was never threatened or felt insecure even for a single moment.

p.s. The dude in the picture isn't me.

Photography is a good alternative for people who do not have the ability to be painters.

Garuda bhai and the forum aren't getting along too well right now. :))

One can do a lot better than this really...this is just me a person with little bit of an eye and some equipment.

Very nice. What camera/lens do you use?

Nothing special cannon 400d and 760d with some cannon and some sigma lenses 50:300 and and standard.

Photography is a good alternative for people who do not have the ability to be painters.

One can do both, photography help me understand light like nothing else. I have learned so much from photography that helps me whenever I try to paint or do something digitally.

I would love to travel all across Pakistan if I got the opportunity.

In terms of fear, if you would take fear of death as the most extreme on a scale, then I'm probably in the middle because as far as I'm concerned my death is predetermined, so fearing such an event doesn't come into my mind. It's more things like what will I do if I get run over by a reckless driver ?

I figured that it wasn't you because the guy in the picture doesn't look 19 to me.

Impressive. You have a very good philosophy when it comes to dealing with the fear of death.

That said, Gilgit Baltistan, Hunza, Naran, Kaghan, Siri Paaye (yes its a place), Skardu, Chilas, Chitral etc. are wonderful places and if you ever get time, you should visit them.

I mean I am not going to say that they are the best but they have this rustic touch - exceptional natural beauty and very ordinary facilities making one feel as if one is traveling through time while being there.

Thanks.

Out of the places you've mentioned, I haven't heard of Siri Paaye and Chilas but the rest are on my bucket list (to steal a phrase from Nostalgic) of places to visit.

Where did you stay because I don't imagine all places have hotels and restaurants ?

Testing the URL uploader.

Lowther castle, lake district

Seems working fine now.

Thanks.

Most of the places have some sort of places to live.

In Fairy Meadows, there are places where you can camp.

TDCP has some okay places to spend a few nights. There are some private ones as well. Personally speaking, we mostly camp because that way we are in control.

Also, I don't like how many people are destroying the local environment to make their hotels and guest houses run. If you go there and we are still on PP, do post your pictures mate.

Sorry for the late reply.

The issue with camping is that you need to have first hand experience of it prior to camping in a place where you've never been before and I don't think I'll have the time to practise in the near future either.

I totally understand your perspective, if endless amount of hotels and tourist facilities are constructed at these places, then their attraction diminishes and the tourism demand may decrease itself.

IMO, for example somewhere like Lake Skardu, I'd spend a few hours rather than 1-2 days because there is so much to see rather than just fixate at any one place.

If it is in my destiny, then I will post pictures, although I don't have a high quality camera, I guess a smartphone is more than apt to capture memories.

Lol, man I just take pictures from my camera.

I really don't know how these DSLR's work.

But check out of some the shots I took randomly.

Have thousands, but these are the ones I could find on my phone right now :)))

Need to go home and have a look.

I like this thread. Will post some of my work when I get home, though Idk how to use the uploader here. Have some raw pictures but also some photoshop edited stuff, been trying to teach myself cs6 photoshop and maybe even illustrator in the future, photo editing and graphic designing always seemed very interesting to me.

Used spoiler tags because I don't like large pics in one post taking up the entire thread. Trying to keep it tidy.
