[PICTURES] Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The youngest cricketer ever to be chosen to play in the IPL

Yes 17 is most likely .:kp
I hate this age guessing stuff man. If kid says he is 14 and his mum and dad vouch for it then that's enough for me. There is already too much suspicion in the world. Let's enjoy a nice moment without cynicism.

Good IPL debut innings… well played but let’s reserve the judgment after he plays well for a few innings among the big boys.

Forget his age. The kid can play.

He could be 9 or 12 or 16. The point is he is built to play this game. A dashing opener with fearless attitude and the range of shots to match it.

The writing is on the wall for Pant’s T20 and ODI career. It’s pretty much over for him in the shorter format.
Lots of young youngsters who can play better than Pant now.

Cheesiness would have ended a lot earlier if fielding was better.
yeah, high quality teams like BD would have got him in couple of balls. what with their tearaway fast bowlers, mystery spinners and world class fielding. Alas, we haven't been blessed with so much talent like BD and our youngsters have to learn to do with what they have.

Kid aint no Lamine Yamal. He is 14, so any u19 team should be able to handle him.

No it is not. Age fudging is a massive issue in Indian sports and should not be condoned. Bcoz it will affect the long term health of domestic cricket

We will see in five years. He is so young that he can go any direction.
No one saying anything about his talent. Prthvi Shaw at the age of 6 was perhaps even more talented. It's the cheesiness of IPL scouting to make us believe IPL is like EPL, La Liga, etc scouting talented young players. Today he was dispatched really while he was on like 15 but got lucky. Also, lot of players in IPL gets "Impact" players title and are given license to go all in from ball one.

I know your other post about BD was scarcastic, but looks like even u19 players handled him well :)

As I hypothesised earlier in the Time Pass section, we are on the brink of a monumental shift , a possible re-entry into the Sanatan Yuga ( Age of Sanatan)

Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji, the collective consciousness of Bharat has been stirred. He has awakened the Indriyas & Gyaan Chakshu of the people, leading to quicker maturation, stronger physiques, and a revival of the Sanatani spirit reminiscent of Satyuga.

Vaibhav is himself a Sooryavanshi, a descendant of the divine lineage of Shri Ram who at the mere age of 14 shattered Bhagwan Shiva’s bow and wed Mata Sita. These weren’t mere boys, they were men forged in the fire of Dharma.

Let's face it, you dislike the kid because he failed the famous Bangladeshi 5'2 criteria for a batsman. :shakib

He was well known coming into IPL. He didn't need to IPL to get spotlight. But performance here will improve his chances of finding a spot in A games. He shouldn't forget playing first class cricket. That is where you develp your basics.

We Pakistanis tried to make this leap two decades ago with Hassan Raza but unfortunately he must not have been forged in the right fire as nothing got awakened.

5 years ago , BD under 19 team beat India Under 19 in the final.

Meant absolutely nothing. Jaiswal, Tilak and Jurel have gone from strength to strength whereas Shoriful is already dropped and Tanzim and Towhid are nowhere near the standard of top teams.

Their lack of talent keeps getting exposed.

This will keep happening so save yourself the embarrassment and don't pull out under 19 scorecards.

Standard BD fan analysis, judging a player by one off game. Bookmarking your post for future 2 decades :P
We cant risk sarcasm with BD fans, they are like Drax. We have to respect that.

He did very well.

But he’s going to get found out soon - almost everyone is - and then how he goes on from there is his true test.

I remember a Sachin Tendulkar and I also remember an Unmukt Chand.

But at present it is exciting to see him play.

We did the hassan raza tamasha....

Afg did the rashid khan tamasha.
There was no real evidence of Hassan was there?

For Rashid the evidence was clear, there were pictures of him with a full beard when he was 9 years old same with players like Malik who have fudged.

There is no evidence that this youngster has fudged. No images of him, no scorecards where he had different age, no school records etc.

It is a shame to call him a fudger based on suspicion only, especially when that suspicion is due to the actions of others not him.

14 year old kids dont have the muscle built to be playing.

You can tell by someones face especially if you deal with kids like @Bewal Express said.

Hassan Raza i doubt he was 14, but on him i can speculate

17 year old another Indian Youngster is waiting for his chance . His name is AYUSH MHATRE
Age fudger, you can tell by someone's face and he is clearly 4 there. :afridi1

This is why age fudging is a serious issue

That BD U19 team was U25 team. They won against genuine U19s but struggled in senior cricket when they faced their own peers. This is also why Pakistan does well at age group but struggle in senior cricket. India also had that issue earlier but now BCCI is very strict. Like Unmukt Chand & baba Aparajith for India. Many such examples from Pakistan & BD

Only thing about Vaibhav is he is allready playing senior cricket. So if he does well - his age does not matter.

Hassan Raza looked so old that even PCB withdrew the claim of " youngest test player " record

This kid is from Bihar. Almost everyone from Bihar fudges their age by 2-3 years in school - to be eligible for govt jobs & civil service exams. For them its like a rite of passage. I am yet to meet a Bihari who has not done so

Even Dhoni most likely did it - he is probable 2-3 years older than his official age

I remember you saying it before in this thread about Bihar. In Pakistan the age fudging generally happens in teens or when player is already past u19 age they can fudge to try and play u19. When do you think it could have happened for this kid?

In India its difficult to fudge age after u pass out of school as ur birth date mentioned on ur school leaving certificate is taken as ur birth date

So most people i UP Bihar do it before they pass out of school ( before their 10th standard exams which happens when u are 16 )

My point is in no sport can a 14 year old have the muscle mass to play at senior level. U need to be at least 16 or close to it

I thought 28.
no need to be sarcastic. Anyone can fudge age in india. I m from here so I know how easy is it to fudge age and it was even easier to do so for people born in 2000s.

He is certainly not 14 he is atleast 17 or maybe even 18.

Aquib Javed is supposed to have played first class at the age of 12 years 86 days

Lahore division vs Faislabad.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Ayush Mhatre has a crazy List A record so far. Average of 65 and a SR of 135. Insane. And he bowls too. 7 wickets in 7 list A matches at an average of 11. Lmao.

And he plays for Mumbai, so his batting pedigree has to be solid. Legit age too.

You should not generalize the muscle mass too much, if you noticed he was timing the ball and not muscling it out of the ground. A certain Sachin Tendulkar was flourishing at 14, and so was Prithvi Shaw. The point is, there’s no documented proof to discredit him. But once he’s playing senior cricket it doesn’t really matter, does it?

Just add +2 or +3 to all South Asian ages. That's why I said Dhoni is close to 45, and if you round that up thats like 50. No wonder his team is sucking now:dhoni

What is your view on Tendulkar , who made his first class debut at 14 years some months?

It's true. It stunted his mental growth and that's why he sucks as a coach.
I mean a a fast bowler at less than 13 cannot play at that level. To bowl fast you need to be strong , so what you think his age could be at that time , 16 ?

This is a semi list of the youngest players to have played First class , this is interesting. How many players in this list do you guys have heard of. Screenshot 2025-04-21 14.35.09.png
