As a cricket fan, i feel sarfraz should retire and move his way to coaching. He can be a good tactician. He can bring good results as a coach. He was a typical street smart cricketer from karachi but due to his limitations as a batter in white ball format, he remained very underachieved as a player. Tbf, they were hard done by India losing to Eng, One rain affected game vs sri lanka and a freak accident vs WI.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying pakistan would have won if sri lanka game had taken place, just listing some details, cricket is a funny game. No one would have expected 2019 pakistan to beat England in their own den either.

9 times out of 10, 2019 pakistan would demolish West indies in an odi game and similarly 9 times out of 10 2019 England would crush pakistan.

Rizwan is way better then sarfaraz as a batsmen. Infact no one ever denied that.

Problem is Sarfaraz was keeper first batter 2nd, and made sure to shuffle himself from opener to no 7.

Rizwan sticks as opener and no 4, so you can't compare him as a keeper. Rizwan as a t20 opener is rubbish. Plain and simple. However tbf to rizwan his innings in the previous game was very good.

A person can take time but if they don't give their wicket away and being their sr back upto 100, then it's perfect.

Problem is ik for a fact that Rizwan will mess up at no 4.

Younis Khan in odi was scrutinised for the same thing that rizwan is praised for. YK would usually make up for slow starts but because he was inconsistent, 90% of the time he would depart of 20 runs of 40 balls.

Had rizwan departed at 20 or 30 last game, it would have been a rubbish innings.

And alot of players and PSL teams contact each other before the drafts aswell. Usually when players know they are not getting picked, they than to this rona dhona which Shezad did.

I checked their year by year stats. Interestingly enough, Sarfi's stats from 2014 to 2020 are extremly consistent.

His peak is 2016 where he avg 54 and sr 92 but otherwise he's consistently sitting at a 33 to 38 avg and 89 to 90 sr.

Rizwan's year by year avg is all over the bloody place. In some years like 2023 he's avg 61, in others it's less then 20.

If you look at their batting positions rizwan avg 50 at 4, but 33 and 30 at 5 and 6.

Meanwhile Sarfi avg 43 and 42 at opening and no 5, no 5 is where sarfi played the most no of odi games. But avg 28 at 6,7 and 8. At no 4 sarfi avg 34 but he barely played at that no, because hafeez occupied it mostly.

If you look at the stats against full strength sides, Sarfaraz is a gun no 5 and clearly better them rizzu in odi at that no.

Maybe that's why Rizwan wanted no 4 , but Rizwan deapite avg 50 at no 4 only jas a sr of 87 while sarfi has a sr of 94.

Then in test cricket, sarfi avg 67 and 51 in 2014 and 2015 when he played at no 6. His overall test record at no 6 is 41 but it declined to 34 when he slotted at no 7.

Rizwan's peak at no 6 is also 41 but his peak year is 45.

Sarfi at his peak is clearly superior to rizwan at his peak as an odi and test batter.

^^ For some reason people don't look at this and tend to look at overall stats which ignores how many C strings like sa, Sri Lanka or NZ rizzu has played against or how many phatta pindi tracks vs Bangladesh he's played against in test.

I've noticed a hillarious trend for pakistan cricket.

Pak 2017-2019= Solid whiteball side, horrible test side.

Obvious solution= Replace sarfi as test captain and let Misbah be test coach.

Pcb solution = Make misbah chief selector and coach, Remove sarfi from the equation all together, Shove fakhar into the middle order abyss, Bring rizwan out of nowhere and have him become a front line t20 opener, Make babar a guy who never won a damn thing in domestic as captain, an all format captain, bring chacha out of nowhere, Establish chacha as your super over specialist. The list goes on and on?
