Not good enough for Pak team.... instead we will play a 16 year old who doesn't have the first idea of how to pick a wicket :sree

Got wicket to a short hop lol but bowled with pace line slightly all over the place so far needs to be consistent

I dunno if you seen Naseem bowl but he bowled brilliantly against aus, and first test against Lanka he done well. Give him time he hasn't bowled bad.

16 year old who’s outperformed every other pacer in domestic cricket, including Rauf, this season by a mile. Have some patience.

If only wickets were granted on the criteria of "hasn't bowled bad".... he is a good prospect but should have built up his skills in domestics for 4-5 years to actually learn the art of getting batsman out.

Naseem hasn’t been that bad and besides it’s different formats. Anyways I am not sure how legit this source is but apparently Harris Rauf told his coach that he is a LOI specialist and has no interest in Tests.

Basically all three told their coaches that they were not interested in red ball cricket and were white ball specialists and left their teams,” the source said.

You are the most reactionary fan ever. Your posts make me mad. Just stop.

I understand playing domestics is a must for a youngster to polish his game, but this is Pak and you have seen how good talent is wasted in Pak domestic. Shaheen was fast tracked in to the team and see how he's turned out. I say give the lad a few more games. Especially on bowling friendly pitches

Shaheen was older and played 2 seasons of domestics IIRC. Naseem has been thrown in the deep end too early. I'm afraid we may ruin a potentially great prospect by exposing him too early. Remember Hasan Raza, the batsman.

Back topic the spinners are running through this side. Haaris might not have much of impact on this game hopefully we see more of him

I hope not! I haven't been this excited for a young pacy bowling line up for years.

Shaheen has only played 5 FC games other than his Test caps, whereas Naseem has actually played 7 FC games other than his Test caps. Shaheens development has all come by being with the national setup over that past 2 years. We need to show the same patience with Naseem unless you really want to see the likes of Rahat and Sohail Khan donning the whites again in Test cricket cos those are our alternatives.

Quality from Rauf. Just too quick. Hope he gets the 5fer

Lol the commentators saying IPL auction happened a bit too early for rauf than they realized he’s Pakistani

5fer :salute

Is this the same Rauf who used to trundle in for Pakistan? He has been amazing in the Big bash league. Looks like he is learning a lot from his time in Australian grade cricket.

Trundle? Nah you are confusing him with somebody else.

The word "trundle(r)" is used in the wrong way so frequently that isn't not even funny anymore.

This guy must play in LOI and T20 for our team, Misbah and Waqar hopefully will take note.

Lol he hasn’t even played for Pakistan yet you are confusing him with that tall bloke abdur rauf from khanewal oh yes he was one heck of a trundler

Well if ever there was a true moment to use the word unbelievable, this was it!!!!

I have always been puzzled in the past at Haris Rauf's exclusion from Pakistan side. Not only does he bowl fast but he has a lovely outswinger with the new ball.

PRESS RELEASE

QALANDARS PROUD OF HARIS RAUF

LAHORE: The management of Pakistan’s most favorite PSL team Lahore Qalandars is proud of Haris Rauf, a very own product of Lahore Qalandars.

Haris Rauf made his Big Bash debut earlier and today he got five wickets against Hobart Hurricanes to become the leading bowler in the tournament with 7 wickets in 2 games.

“This is success of our player development program,” said Lahore Qalandars COO Sameen Rana on elevation of Haris Rauf.

It is worth mentioning that Haris, who used to be a tape ball player, came from Rawalpindi to appear in Player Development Program by the franchise in 2017, where he was picked by Aqib Javed.

Since, then his hard work and Qalandars’ endless support has helped him grow as a super star now.

“I am overwhelmed to see Haris perform well in Australia. This is great sight for me to see him taking wickets. I pray and hope that he continues to do well in each game he play,” said Lahore Qalandars’ director cricket operation Aaqib Javed.

The Lahore Qalandars management feel proud of the achievements by Haris Rauf. We believe that it is a dream coming true moment for us.

We also believe that the journey of Haris Rauf is depiction of our player development program which has received tremendous support from everyone.

“We always believed that we should win the PSL thru a process. The process of building our own players and Haris Rauf is one such player who is a proud product of PDP,” said Atif Rana, CEO of Lahore Qalandars.

“PSL is all about developing new talent for Pakistan and that’s what we at Lahore Qalandars have been doing from day one. We are not limited to few talent hunts program, we believe in developing players and we will continue doings so,” Atif Rana added.

The management of Qalandars wish to reiterate that it will continue with its mission of finding new talent for Pakistan. We have already produced one Haris Rauf. We have more knocking the doors and in next PSL more of our own developed talent will be unveiled to the world.

This guy is real good. Fast track him into the national team! He seems like an improved version of Wahab Riaz.

If only wickets were granted on the criteria of "hasn't bowled bad".... he is a good prospect but should have built up his skills in domestics for 4-5 years to actually learn the art of getting batsman out.

And Haris has played 4-5 years of domestic right? It would have took you 1 minute of research to find out this is Haris first ever season with hard-ball cricket, whereas Naseem has been playing for U-19 and U-16 so if anything Haris is inexperienced compared to Naseem.

Haris Rauf 5fer!

Smart bowling, pace, short balls, slower balls and cutters.

Very intelligent bowling by Haris.

Haris Rauf speaking at end of the game:

'First of all thanks to The Almighty, it was my dream to play Big Bash and that dream has come true"

"Last 2 years I have been playing Sydney, and training with Sydney Sixers, and then Melbourne Stars gave me a chance and this Man of the Match is dedicated to my family, the management at Lahore Qalandars"

"I have been playing street cricket in Pakistan but LQ asked me to play in Players Development Program so I would like to thank them"

"Dale Steyn is my ideal - I have replaced him but I love Dale Steyn"

"For the last 2 years, Aaqib Javed has been working with me, pace is important as when you have pace in the game, you can beat a batsman easily"

Amazing. Crazy he hasn't played an international game but is doing so good in BBL. He NEEDS to be in the next squad.

WOW wat a scary spell of fast bowling, i am so annoyed to myself that why i opted to work. Missed the craziest spell :(

I knew from start of this thread, he will shock everybody, i wish i can find highlights of the match somewhere :( D Steyn is fit for friday game so biggest question arises, will Haris be retained by Melbourne Stars or some other BBL team will grab the oppurtunity to sign him, given the situation if they have vaccant slot salary cap international players?

Was he only signed up for 2 games?

Deserves a chance in LO cricket. Should just be allowed to bowl quickly with aggressive fields.

Definitely should be in the white-ball set up. I don't think he will succeed in Test ball cricket but he's got the skill-set to be an excellent LOI bowler.

Lovely gesture from Haris

either you haven’t seen Naseem or you just being totally ignorant.. for a seasoned pper you are clueless lol

Haris Rauf, the new Rawalpindi Express, has set his sights on next year's T20 World Cup announcing himself on the international stage with a sensational start to his KFC BBL career.

Rawalpindi-born Rauf was playing tape ball in the city a few months ago, and last weekend was bowling with Tasmania club side Glenorchy.

But yesterday cemented himself as the BBL's newest cult hero with a sensational four-over spell that netted him 5-27 and the BKT Golden Cap as the competition's leading wicket taker so far.

It spearheaded the Stars' 52-run demolition of the Hobart Hurricanes in Moe on Sunday, and came just two days after he took 2-20 on debut in a win over the Brisbane Heat on the Gold Coast.

Rauf's rags-to-riches tale has taken the cricket world by storm after the Stars selection catapulted him into the international spotlight.

Rauf's tale is quickly becoming well known – he previously spoke of breaking a lock to sneak into an open trial for the Lahore Qalanders in 2017, where he won a spot on the Pakistan Super League franchise's player development programme by delivering 150km/h thunderbolts.

On his third stint to Australia to play club cricket when the Stars plucked him from obscurity, he had already been on an upward trajectory, previously training alongside the likes of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, and starring with a four-wicket haul for the Qalanders last February in the PSL.

Now though, with a taste of the big-time, he's set his sights on making the national team.

"The T20 World Cup is coming up in Australia and I'm trying to get fit for that," Rauf said through teammate Sandeep Lamichhane, with the Nepalese leg-spinner acting as a translator.

"I'm hoping to represent my country, Pakistan, in bigger levels. That's my only dream, to play for my country."

Rauf exuberantly celebrated each of his five wickets against Hobart and finished the day on a touching note by signing the match ball and gifting it to a security guard.

"I gave that ball to one of the Punjabi guys from India because when I arrived at the ground I told him I was from Pakistan, and that guy just cried and hugged me," Rauf said through Lamichhane.

"That's why I got emotional and gave that ball to him."

Rauf, 26, was plucked from Tasmania's first grade T20 competition on the eve of the season as a replacement for South Africa pace bowling legend Dale Steyn who arrived in the country with a side strain.

But Steyn's impending return from a side strain has put Rauf's spot in jeopardy, with BBL teams only allowed to field two international players at once.

But clubs are allowed to have up to four internationals on their books, and Rauf will now remain with the Stars for the remainder of the season.

Steyn is on a short-term contract, with Lamichhane and English fast bowler Pat Brown, the Stars' original plan to replace Steyn, also on the clubs' roster.

Steyn today declared he was fit to play the Moe match against Hobart, but the Stars had left him out of the squad of 13 they are required to submit by 2pm the day before the match, meaning there was no recourse to include him at the last minute.

"I was really keen to play today," Steyn said pre-match. "I think the 24-hour rule kind of does you in a little bit.

"I wouldn't have minded waking up today, coming to the ground, having a little bowl and then giving the thumbs up. I've gone through my warm-ups and bowled and I'm fine, but it's obviously too late now."

Stars teammate Peter Handscomb lauded Rauf's energy and spirit and said he had quickly won his new teammates over after a rocky start.

"He's a good lad, he's come in and got around the boys straight away, which is great to see. He's having fun, you can have a joke with him, which is great," Handscomb said while mic'd up on the match telecast.

"He wanted to impress straight up so he was coming in and bouncing all the blokes

"I think he got a few blokes offside, but he's won them over pretty quick the way he was bowling the other night.

"He's just a good lad."

Melbourne's next match is on December 27 against the Adelaide Strikers back at the Gold Coast's Metricon Stadium.

Propa super star our banda Rauf :D

Yes, he is "our banda" now, he earned it, a super star in making. I was not his fan due to lack of his FC cricket experience but he has shown , he is ready for Pakistan, in T20 at least.

Steyn returns as Rauf rubbed out by Stars

Dale Steyn is set to make his long-awaited KFC BBL debut after the South African was named in the Melbourne Stars squad for Friday night's clash with the Adelaide Strikers.

Pakistan pace sensation Haris Rauf has been axed for Steyn's return after regaining fitness from a side strain he arrived with having injured himself playing in South Africa's domestic T20 competition.

Rauf, who lit up the BBL with his rags-to-riches tale having joined the Stars at the last minute from Tasmanian Premier Cricket club Glenorchy, has been dropped despite wearing the BKT Golden Cap as the competition's leading wicket-taker.

In his two games as Steyn's replacement, Rauf took seven wickets, including a five-fer against the Hobart Hurricanes in Moe, and conceded just 5.87 runs per over.
