[PICTURES/VIDEOS] "I am convinced that I will make a name for myself for Pakistan in the future" : Zahid Mahmood

On the basis that Asif Afridi will play.If wasim was in the squad babar would have picked him instead of asif afridi and that would deny asif a chance.

Why doesn't he just take over as captain then? Clearly he is not satisfied with the CS gig.

In hindsight - should Pakistan have tried Zahid Mahmood?

Zahid picks up Finch as his first ODI wicket

His issue is that he doesnt varies his pace. Bowling is good. Doesnt have variation, too slow

Problem with Zahid he hasn’t improved over the years like Adil Rashid & Imran Tahiti

Would prefer Shadab all day long better batter plus he can field

Zahid getting the wicket of Travis Head.

One of the worst spinner.
He has very poor control and bowls way too many hit me balls
He should be no where near team.
Awful player overall.

This guys ceiling is T20’s and even there he’a not a high level bowler, can’t believe folk wanted him in Tests! Yasir Shah is still the best leg spinner in Pakistan over these bums. But for ODI’s, not sure why Shadab is not picked anymore, his bowling looked good in the PSL

Shadab was injured for the first 2 t20s.

He was getting decent amount of turn but then his length was all over the place.

I haven't seen any of his bowling but some are saying that he turns the ball, if that is the case he should be given a long rope, if can't, then move on.

He’s picked up a few wickets, but just like in the PSL he doesn’t seem to be able to put any pressure on the scoring rate.

He’s awful. No control looks close to 40 can’t bat or field. Should be his first and last series. Truly a mediocre cricketer.

He can turn the ball but as soon as Labuschagne started using the sweep he didn't know what to do.

Has to be one of the most unimpressive leg-spinners I have seen in recent times. Honestly I would prefer Usman Qadir over him and that's not saying much because Usman Qadir doesn't have much control with the ball either.

Usman is also a good spinner but he tends to bowl too many full tosses or bad bowls in between
Why Usman is not playing any domestic or other leagues outside PSL... Does he intend to retire just being on bench ?

Zahid was not bad in these phaata pitches; good thing I like in these matches is he does not get scared of bowling attacking lines even he is getting hit out of the park which Sajid and Nouman not able to do

Zahid making sure the pressure stays - Brilliant from Imam

I am not sure why he is getting so much hate. He is actually a decent white ball option. I would have picked Asif Afridi ahead of him though.

Nothing good or terrible. Run of the mill FC bowler, can't turn the leg spinner consistently and that means he will struggle to take wickets consistently

Extremely mediocre this guy that's why he averages 36 in fc cricket
He can't bowl with control and does not have enough variations as well.

He could have been great but he is 34. The ship has sailed. Pakistan investing in the wrong players at the wrong time

Being 34 is not an issue, still has 4 years of gas. The main issue for me is if he is good enough as a genuine bowler who bats at no.11. I would probably say no.

Will he/should he feature again for Pakistan?

Will he/should he feature again for Pakistan?

No.

This guy is absolutely mediocre.
Bowling averages:-
First class 36.74
List A 29.38
T20 21.07

He was belted across the ground by no name Aussie batsmen, who generally struggle against half decent leg spinner, but Zahid Bhai was feasted upon by them, tells the quality.

Usman Qadir could have been a better choice against the Australian ODI team, that guy is also a loose cannon but with the ability to produce brilliance in between.

Will he? Yes. Should he? Probably not. Pakistani pacers bowl extremely loose enough as it is and having more of the same from guys like Zahid/Qadir isn't going to help this team.

It used to be when Pakistani spinners came on, opposition was in for quite a squeeze. It was often what helped Pakistan come back in matches since the pacers had a tendency to get smashed in the PP but the squeeze from the spinners hasn't been coming since CT win.

He should only play in tests in spinning pitches otherwise he should not play either odis or t20s.

Not done much in this game for Pakistan vs Netherlands.

May well be the end of his white-ball career, unless he comes back in Tests

When you pick mediocre cricketers, you will get mediocre results.

Usman Qadir is also in the same boat.

Shadab is miles ahead of both Zahid and Usman.

Better to pick Zafar Gohar over him.

Missed a big opportunity. At 34 years of age when the person you are replacing is almost 10 years younger then you then unfortunately you don’t get a lot of opportunities. Lets see how it goes.

Usman, Abrar are currently some other leggies knocking the door as well to be Shadab’s backup.

Yep, very little upside with him.

Qadir is way better than Zahid and atleast qadir is better fielder and batter.

Awful performance from Zahid didn't look like he was going to take a wicket.

Zahid with figures of 4/20 in Nat T20 SF

England giving him insaaf as said by saqlain qudrat ka nizam.

Getting completely tonked in this second innings

Doesn’t look Test class

Triple-century for Zahid Mahmood. He becomes only the second bowler in the history of cricket to concede 300 runs on Test debut. The other was Jason Krejza for Australia versus India in 2008

2 wickets for Zahid

Definitely made a name for himself for all the wrong reasons.

Breaking allsorts of records.

He doesn't have a googly or a flippers. Eventually batsmen can line him up as he is predictable.

Zahid Mahmood is the Joint highest wicket taker in the Pakistan Cup 2023-24

Wickets 15
BBI 4/44
Average 16.86
Econ 4.14

This guy needs a run with national side before he gets too old to represent Pakistan.

3 tail ender wickets, 1 drag down bad ball brought Babar's dismissal and 1 Hussain Talat's dismissal.

One of the softest 5-fers you will ever see.

Old is gold

Stallions' entire batting lineup has been dismantled by him in Champions One-Day Cup 2024

Taking 4 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs so far

Maiden List A five-wicket haul for Zahid Mahmood

The wrist spinner's wickets included Babar Azam & Mohammad Haris as he bowled his side to victory.

Pretty mediocre bowler helped by the conditions and inept batting.

Sad to see that Abrar can’t even perform even in spin friendly conditions. He is even worse than Zahid.

I hear you but it is still better to play a proper spinner in Zahid/Abrar then to rely on part time spin of Shadab/Agha/Ifti.

Exciting news for leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood

He's been invited to join Pakistan's pre-test camp in Multan as the 16th player, ahead of the first Test starting October 7.

Although the squad will be trimmed to 15 members for the Test.

I didn't understand his role in the 2nd Test against England, as he only bowled 6 overs in the match
