Govt ‘petrified’ of Imran Khan, avers Omar Ayub

National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub said on Tuesday that the incumbent government was
“petrified” of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Expressing his thoughts during the NA session, Ayub stated: “The rulers are merely having one target. This is not the government but the anarchy.”

He criticised the incumbent government without the presence of the ministers, saying, “These people are hiding their faces and are not daring enough to face the masses.”

The PTI leader’s speech had sparked uproar in the NA session.

– PTI threatens to pour onto streets again –

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said on Thursday that the party will finalise the plan of pouring onto streets against the government after holding talks with the deposed prime minister.

Speaking to media outside Adiala jail, Qaiser said: “We are the elected representatives and having an entity as the political party. So how can we not hold talks with the PTI founder?”

“We are also taking the other parties on board from all the provinces in our cause of holding the protests,” said Qaiser.

He averred, “We will not come under pressure, no matter whatever the tactics the government will use.”

Now that Trump has been elected POTUS, it would be interesting to see his stance in relation to Pakistan. The usual suspects are trying to brush this under the carpet saying that Pakistan is not important enough, they might be right but given the unconventional president Trump is I think he would have a different policy towards Pakistan. Time will tell but this is golden opportunity for Pakistani diaspora to lobby in US as after a long time their voices might actually be heard.

Good luck trying to blackmail Trump into giving any more unjustified handouts to Pakistan establishment in the current times.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Friday once again deferred the indictment of former prime minister Imran Khan and others accused in the case related to the attack on GHQ Rawalpindi during the unrest on May 9

The GHQ attack case involving Imran Khan is linked to his arrest on May 9, 2023, at the Islamabad High Court, where he was attending a hearing related to allegations of corruption.

The attackers breached the GHQ gate and entered the premises, attempting to create an environment of insurrection within the country.

Following Imran's arrest, widespread protests erupted across Pakistan, with his supporters and party members demanding his release. The protests escalated into riots, during which PTI supporters targeted and vandalised numerous civil and military installations.

Key sites of unrest included General Headquarters (GHQ) of the army in Rawalpindi, Jinnah House in Lahore, Mianwali airbase and Corps Commander House in Lahore.

The special anti-terrorism court presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, conducted the hearing of the case at Adiala Jail today, Express News reported.

During the hearing, defence counsels raised objections to the indictment's contents, noting that the GHQ investigation report includes statements from 94 witnesses, none of whom named the PTI chairman or any other senior leader.

Lawyer Babar Awan argued that the individuals who initially implicated PTI leaders have since withdrawn their statements.

KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur did not attend the hearing, and his attorney submitted a request for an exemption from attendance.

Meanwhile, copies of the indictment were not distributed among the 25 accused individuals present. Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has submitted a petition requesting his acquittal in an attempt to avoid indictment.

Babar Awan’s speaks to reporters outside court

Speaking to the media outside the ATC, Babar Awan criticized the trial, calling the charges politically motivated. He argued that PTI workers seen on Murree Road were only carrying flags but were still labeled as terrorists, comparing the situation to the lack of a formal trial for alleged spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

He stressed that the Supreme Court has called for swift trials in terrorism cases and reaffirmed that PTI seeks no deal, only fair treatment.

Awan highlighted that four separate investigation reports submitted by the police found no evidence against PTI leaders or activists.

GHQ attack case
Earlier this year, Imran Khan was arrested in the GHQ attack case, soon after his release warrant was issued in the cypher case.

Express News obtained a copy of the GHQ attack case report, which outlines 27 severe charges against Imran Khan and other accused individuals.

The report alleges that, under the leadership of former Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, the accused stormed the GHQ gate, causing significant property damage despite being warned by military personnel to stop.

The accused are also alleged to have broken into sensitive areas of GHQ, set fires, threw petrol bombs, and created chaos within the premises.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement posted on his X handle:

Pakistan today is passing through one of its darkest phases, where there is a complete collapse of law and order and brute force is being used unabated to destroy the very foundations of democracy, constitution, and rule of law.
Judiciary is being enslaved with the executive being given powers well beyond its constitutional entitlement, thus gravely impacting the structure of trichotomy of power.

Nobody is safe from the fascism prevalent today: legislators, their businesses, their properties, their families, even women and children are under assault. Azam Swati, Khawaja Shiraz, Intizar Panjotha have all been abducted and tortured. All established redlines have been fractured with total disregard for human rights.

In the wake of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the silence of the legal fraternity is disturbing. Today, the situation is much worse than ever before in the past. Judiciary’s independence has been brutally assaulted, and judges turned into dispensable commodities. This must be resisted with the full vigour and faith by the legal community as, otherwise, they will forever remain buried under the unwieldy weight of oppression and tyranny.

The criminal mafias that have been illegally hoisted in positions of power have their properties, businesses and families abroad. They come back only to unleash a reign of plunder to fly off to their safe havens, waiting for their next turn.

They were defeated in the February 8 elections, but the results were stolen in the darkness of night. This blighted night has continued to get darker with the passage of time.

I have been subjected to solitary confinement and torture in a dark cell by those who control Adiala. My Lahore house was raided when my wife was alone. My sisters and other relatives have been mercilessly targeted. I have not been allowed to speak to my children and denied all rights that the constitution grants me.

With the establishment in command, the distance between the armed forces and the people is widening. Army being an indispensable public asset must be responsive to the will of the people. We can’t afford to sacrifice the reputation of the institution to satiate the lust for power of an individual or a coterie of a few. That would be tragic as it would cause irreparable damage to the reputation of the institution.

Our struggle is not against the institution of the military. We are fighting for democracy, independence of judiciary and restoration of the Constitution. The fight is for the rights of the people. We are fighting for confining institutional operations within the domain of the Constitution. We are fighting for restoring people their freedoms so that they could lead Pakistan to become a formidable country.

No outside force will help us. We must do it ourselves. We must regain our freedom, our dignity and self-respect. Loss of these values renders' human life meaningless. What we do now will determine the future of Pakistan and that of its coming generations.

This can be done only if the stolen mandate of February 8 is restored to the people of Pakistan and those whom they selected as their leaders. The governments installed on the basis of a stolen mandate are lack legitimacy and relevance. They cannot provide the country the leadership it desperately needs to tide over unprecedented difficult times.

It is time for people to step out to reclaim their mandate. PTI is the largest political party of the country. We have the people’s trust. We must not fail them. This is the time to launch a peaceful movement for the restoration of the Constitution, democracy and rule of law. I call upon all segments of the society to play their role. I especially urge my ticketholders to join the movement.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's conversation with journalists in Adiala Jail:

We have given the action plan in the Swabi Jalsa. This time our people will not go back to their homes. Our protest will continue till restoration of constitution, democracy and independent judiciary and freedom of our innocent workers and leaders.

I will give it myself in March date with full preparation for next few days.

I am ready to make every sacrifice for the real freedom of Pakistan- Tehreek-e-Insaf officials, MLAs, moderators, ticket holders, workers and supporters complete their preparations and start work for mobilization on the ground.

Imran Khan being provided all facilities as per jail rules, IHC quotes officials

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a written ruling on a petition filed by Noreen Niazi regarding jail facilities for and meetings with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan, and disposed of the case.

The order states that jail authorities have assured compliance with court orders and prison regulations in providing facilities to Imran Khan. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir delivered the written order in the matter. A detailed report signed by the Adiala Jail superintendent was also submitted in court.

According to the report, the court order stated, the jail authorities have lifted the previously imposed ban on prison meetings for Imran Khan and other inmates. The ban had initially been enforced by Punjab's Home Department over security concerns regarding potential terror threats. The authorities informed the court that a meeting between petitioner Noreen Niazi and Imran Khan had been facilitated.

The order also mentioned that jail officials told the court that the former prime minister had appointed a coordinator in light of the court order on meetings in prison. Those wishing to meet Imran Khan could contact the coordinator, the court stated.

According to the jail's deputy superintendent, all facilities are available to the PTI founder as per jail rules. The jail authorities have assured that Imran Khan would be provided with all the facilities as per court orders and jail rules.

The court further noted that the petitioner's lawyers are satisfied with the statement of the jail deputy superintendent and DIG. Due to the satisfaction of the petitioner's lawyers, the petition for provision of jail facilities to Imran Khan is disposed of.

PTI founder Imran Khan, other leaders acquitted of long march vandalism

In a rare relief for the embattled PTI, its founder and several other leaders were acquitted in a long march vandalism case.

The sessions court judge heard the case on the plea of Asad Qaiser and other leaders. Sheikh Rashid, Asad Qaiser and others appeared in court.

Judicial magistrate Yasir Mahmood reserved the verdict after completion of arguments.

Later, he announced the verdict acquitting PTI founder Imran Khan, Asad Qaiser, Saifullah Niazi, Sheikh Rashid, Sadaqat Abbasi, Faisal Javed and Ali Nawaz.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) was briefed on the ongoing legal cases against Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party

The police revealed that there are 62 registered cases against Imran Khan in the capital, with additional inquiries taking place at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Express News reported.

During the hearing, Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir of the IHC reviewed the details of the cases, and the Islamabad police requested more time to submit the full report.

DSP Legal informed the court that the police had only received the notice the evening before and requested an extension.

The court, however, noted that the notice had been issued earlier.

Islamabad’s police spokesperson, DSP Sajjid Cheema, informed the court that there were 62 cases registered against Imran Khan in Islamabad. He proposed submitting an interim report, to which Justice Tahir urged the police to provide a detailed report instead.

The FIA also presented its report on the cases involving Imran Khan, revealing that seven FIRs (First Information Reports) and multiple inquiries have been initiated against him.

Furthermore, the government’s lawyer clarified that there were no pending inquiries against Khan at the District Collector's office.

The court adjourned the hearing until November 18, giving the authorities time to provide the requested detailed report.

Earlier today, a special court in Islamabad has rejected acquittal pleas from former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana 2.0 case, where both face charges of alleged misuse of government gifts.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand announced the verdict, with formal charges expected to be framed on 18 November.

Imran Khan attended the court proceedings, while Bushra Bibi was notably absent.

The hearing had previously been postponed to 14 November due to the judge’s unavailability on 12 November, the original date set for the decision.

No indication from Pakistan on trying Imran Khan in military court — UK foreign secretary

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy recently assured a fellow parliamentarian that there have been “no recent indications” from Pakistani authorities that they intend to try former prime minister Imran Khan in a military court, reiterating that he had the right to a fair trial and due process.

Protesters linked to Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party attacked and damaged government and military buildings on May 9, 2023, after his brief arrest that day in a land graft case. Hundreds of PTI followers and leaders were arrested following the riots. The military has also initiated trials of at least 103 people accused of involvement in the violence.

The development raised fears among Khan supporters of his possible trial by a military court, prompting the former prime minister to file a petition in the Islamabad High Court against it. The petition was dismissed by the court in September after the government said it had not decided whether or not it wanted to try the former premier.

Pakistan’s military spokesperson in September hinted at Khan’s possible military trial, saying that though the matter was sub judice, using military personnel for personal or political gains invites legal action.

In response to an Oct. 16 letter penned by Labour legislator Kim Johnson, Lammy assured him that the UK government engages regularly “at a senior level” with Pakistan on the country’s political situation.

“We have no recent indications from the Pakistani authorities that they intend to try Imran Khan in a military court, but my officials continue to monitor the situation closely,” Lammy wrote in a letter to Johnson dated Nov. 11.

The UK official said he has raised concerns about the potential use of military courts to try civilians, including Khan. Lammy added that such courts can lack transparency and independent scrutiny, making it difficult to assess their compliance with international standards.

“While Pakistan’s judicial processes are a domestic matter, we have been very clear that the Pakistani authorities need to act in line with their international obligations and with respect for fundamental freedoms, including the right to a fair trial, due process and humane detention,” he wrote.

“This applies to Imran Khan as it does to all Pakistan’s citizens.”

Lammy said he remains concerned by restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly in Pakistan, including those in relation to political opposition.

“In our engagements with the authorities, we continue to underline that the freedom to hold and express views without censorship, intimidation or unnecessary restriction is a cornerstone of democracy,” he said.

Khan’s close aide, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari shared Lammy’s letter on social media platform X.

“Respect for free and fair elections, and the rule of law, underpinned by an independent judiciary, are the bedrock of a democracy,” Bukhari wrote. “Pakistanis continue to struggle for theirs.”

Khan, arguably Pakistan’s most popular politician, was ousted from office after a parliamentary no-trust vote in April 2022 and has since waged an unprecedented campaign of defiance against the country’s powerful military and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government.

Khan’s party says the military and his political rivals rigged the Feb. 8 general election to form the Sharif-led government. Both deny the charge.

ATC approves five-day physical remand of PTI founder in protest case

The Anti-Terrorism Court Judge approved a five-day physical remand of PTI founder in the protest case and ordered the accused to be produced again on November 25.

The physical remand was approved by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

The founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been formally arrested in a case registered by the New Town Police, under anti-terrorism provisions, for issuing a protest call on September 28.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge is scheduled to visit Adiala Jail today to conduct a hearing regarding the police’s request for the physical remand of the PTI founder. Public prosecutor Zaheer Shah will present arguments in favor of the remand.

An investigation team from the Rawalpindi police will also arrive at Adiala Jail to proceed with their inquiry. Upon approval of the remand, the team plans to interrogate the PTI founder on-site.

Imran's release precondition for talks between PTI and govt: Barrister Saif

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister's Information and Public Relations Adviser Barrister Dr Saif has stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is open to negotiations with the government, but only on the condition that Imran Khan is released.

The statement comes amidst growing tensions between PTI and the government, with both sides bracing for the former’s planned protest on November 24 in Islamabad.

In an interview, Barrister Saif criticised the government for its heavy-handed approach, including the deployment of security forces and the use of containers to block routes leading to the capital, Express News reported.

Despite these measures, he emphasised that PTI will proceed with the protest, vowing that people from Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa would march to Islamabad to assert their demands.

“We are ready for talks, but only if the release of Imran Khan is part of the deal,” said Barrister Saif. He went on to describe the federal government as a “fake” administration, accusing it of using unlawful methods to suppress PTI’s peaceful demonstration.

PTI’s protest, planned for November 24, aims to pressure the government to meet its demands, including the release of party chairman Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned.

Barrister Saif claimed that the upcoming protest would be larger and more formidable than the one held by PTI in 2014.

“The government fears the will of the people. They’ve deployed security forces from Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir, but despite all this, we will march to Islamabad and make our voices heard,” he added.

Saif also accused the government of trying to stifle PTI’s growing political influence through fear tactics and unlawful arrests.

While PTI is steadfast in its stance, the situation remains fluid, and it is unclear whether any official dialogue will take place before the protest.

The coming days are critical for Pakistan’s political landscape as the country braces for another round of unrest, with PTI determined to press on with their demands.

Khawaja Asif blasts Bushra Bibi, PTI founder for ‘exploiting religious norms for personal gains’

“If Bushra Bibi considers herself synonymous with Sharia, then only God can protect us,” Khawaja Asif said while addressing a press conference in the federal capital.

He termed the claims as an affront to religion, further alleging, “Such acts to save a sinking political ship reflect the lowest levels of desperation.”

The PML-N stalwart also addressed PTI’s internal conflicts, calling the rivalry between family members over political inheritance “the ugliest face of dynastic politics.”

Referring to the ‘feud’ to take over the party, he remarked, “Tug of war is on between a Bushra Bibi and Khan’s sisters—a disgraceful chapter in Pakistan’s political history.”

Khawaja Asif also criticized the PTI’s alleged misuse of diplomatic ties, highlighting the Saudi Arabia watch controversy and the misappropriation of gifts from the Toshakhana.

Referring to the video message of Bushra Bibi, the defense minister said: “The statement was issued against a country in which watch was used for trading.”

He accused the party of hypocrisy, stating, “They accuse others of dynastic politics while they themselves bow to material gains.”

The defense minister called upon former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa to personally refute the allegations surrounding him, emphasizing the need for accountability at all levels.

Asif concluded by lamenting the current state of politics, describing it as “the dirtiest situation in Pakistan’s history.”

You quote a low life like Khwaja that attacked a Cancer Hospital although he sent his own dad to get treatment at that hospital. This low life has lost 3 elections in Sialkot and is still holds the seat. Not a single word of truth has ever passed his lips. The low life is cursed.

Isn't she a bit weird though? I understand she's claiming Imran Khan was deposed because he walked barefoot in Medina. Do you think she genuinely believes that?

PTI deletes Bushra Bibi’s statement from X after backlash

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf deleted former first lady Bushra Bibi’s statement on Friday after facing a backlash from ministers.

On Thursday, Bibi in a video message alleged that after her husband Imran Khan visited Medina barefoot as the prime minister, he began receiving calls from former army chief General (retd) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The former first lady alleged that Bajwa was informed about attempts to dismantle the system of Sharia, raising concerns about Khan’s advocacy for Islamic law.

The former army chief denied the ex-first lady’s claims in conversation with journalist Mohammad Malick. Bajwa stated that no such calls were received upon “Khan’s return from Saudi Arabia”.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also slammed it and regretted that such statements were made for “petty political point-scoring.”

Earlier in the day, PM Shehbaz Sharif criticised such statements. “It is an unforgivable crime that you spew venom [against Saudi Arabia] after that. I want to announce as the prime minister that any hand that becomes an obstacle in the friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the nation will break those hands,” he said at a ceremony.

The PTI leadership has decided to distance itself from Bibi’s statement, sources said as the former ruling party expresses concerns over the comments.

They added that Khan’s wife has been asked to consult the party before making any statement. Moreover, she would not play a “central role” in November 24’s protest.

He is far more Liberal than the fake khooni Liberals will ever be. IK isn't for everyone just the 80% of PKs.

One thing I have realized about Pakistani politics based on years of observations is that everyone and anything can be bought for sale, you will not find a single politician who has not sold himself for money, political gains or even relief.

I don't expect anything different in the case of Bushra begum. She's been married to IK for 5-6 years and was primarily his religious advisors. They alleged that many of her relatives benefited from her association with him.

There have been reports for a while that she had been getting frustrated by the establishment's ruthless persecution against PTI including her and her family members. To be fair she was put up in squalid conditions in Bani Galla, in Jail and even her food was tampered with, she was denied medical care, treatment and an endoscopy.

There is a reason why the establishment let her out i.e. she would torpeado and sabotage the PTI , IK in exchange for her freedom.

ATC rejects Imran Khan's bail pleas in eight May 9 cases

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has rejected bail petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated at the Adiala jail since August last year, in eight cases related to May 9 violence, including the Jinnah House attack.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul announced the reserved judgment, dismissing the bail pleas of the ousted prime minister.

The cases included charges related to the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attacks, arson and vandalism at Shadman police station, and the burning of police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk and Zaman Park.

Earlier this month, Rawalpindi ATC approved a five-day physical remand of Imran in a vandalism case.

The development came during the hearing of a case held at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail where the former prime minister has been incarcerated for more than a year now.

Imran was arrested in the vandalism case hours after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday approved his bail in the new Toshakhana case involving the alleged illegal sale of state gifts.

The May 9, 2023 events refer to the violent protests broke out in several parts of the country following the arrest of the PTI founder and saw attacks on public properties including military installations including Corps Commander House Lahore also known as Jinnah House.

Last week, the federal government released "exclusive" CCTV footage of the May 9, 2023, violent protests, showing the alleged former ruling party's protesters vandalising and torching government and military installations.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, who played some video and audio messages of PTI leaders at a press conference in Islamabad, demanded that courts ensure “swift justice” following the “undeniable evidence” against the former ruling party.

Have never been utterly depressed and dissapointed at the state of affairs in the country. All this is happening because the Establishment, PDM are demanding that IK, PTI will not come after them for everything that has occurred in the last 2-3 years and IK is refusing to give any amnesty, NRO this time.

Other compromised PTI leaders have promised this amnesty, NRO but even the establishment knows that these leaders have zero aukaat, value among the masses and that their popularity is a result of IK's sponsorship and if IK is removed from the scene as a whole then no matter how much they support, sponsor these leaders, PTI the party collapses to zero and cannot be used as a third option against PML-N and PPP.

Imran Khan to be arrested in four more cases

A decision has been made to officially arrest former prime minister Imran Khan in four additional cases from September 28.

Investigation teams have reached Adiala Jail to formally arrest Imran Khan. He will be presented in court today (Monday) after completion of his physical remand in the New Town police case.

The investigation teams would proceed with his arrest in all four cases today. After the arrest, a request will be made to send him to jail on judicial remand.

PTI founder sent on 14-day remand in seven cases

Imran Khan is currently in Adiala Jail as police arrested him in the New Town PS case after getting bail in Toshakhana case.

The ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the plea and approved his judicial remand in New Town police station and seven other cases.

The development came after the former prime minister was arrested in seven more cases related to vandalism.

Earlier, the ATC handed over Imran Khan, to police on a five-day physical remand in a New Town police station case.

The prosecution team sought 15-day physical remand of the former prime minister, but the ATC judge granted five-day physical remand to the police and ordered them to continue the investigation inside the jail.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legal woes continue as multiple cases have been filed against founder Imran Khan, along with leaders and protesters who took part in the recent unrest in the federal capital

According to reports, among those named in the eight cases are PTI founder, Imran Khan and former First Lady Bushra Bibi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and other key figures.

The cases also include prominent individuals such as Salman Akram Raja, Sheikh Waqas Akram, local leadership, and thousands of unidentified people.

The charges have been filed at various police stations, including Shahzad Town, Sihala, Bani Gala, Khanna, Shams Colony, Tarnol, Noon, and Nilore.

The charges cover a range of offences, including terrorism, violation of the Assembly Act, attacks on police, abduction, interference with government duties, and violations of Section 144.

PTI initiated its march towards Islamabad on November 24, following a final call from its founder. The government set up roadblocks in an attempt to prevent the protesters, but they managed to break through and reached the Blue Area.

Pretty obvious Pakistanis prefer Establishment over IK.. the way every protest has been shut down is insane.

It has to be a compromise, a harsh reality since the majority of Pakistanis will never take to the streets to protest.

Trust me, the people are ready to come out, the only problem is that the current PTI leaders are a bunch of cowards. They’ll step into Islamabad for a day and run back to KP, abandoning the supporters and party workers.

The only way I see IK coming is if there’s a coup within the establishment. The people have come out in large numbers whenever they’ve been asked, they’ve made their voices heard during the elections, now it’s time for someone in the military to step up.

The only way to compel someone within the military to take action is for people from all provinces to rise collectively until democracy is restored. However, that has yet to happen, and I believe it is due to the incompetence of PTI leadership.

The only time that had happened was on the night when IK was removed by Bajwa.

'Imran yet to play trump card'

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was keeping a "trump card" up his sleeve despite the abrupt end to the party's "final call" protest in Islamabad, Aleema Khan said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, where the former premier has been imprisoned for over a year, she said, "Imran told me he would not reveal his trump card right now".

She added that her brother plans to escalate the issue of the "D-Chowk tragedy" by presenting it to the Supreme Court and international forums.

Aleema questioned the use of live fire during the protests. "There is no justification for the bullet that was fired," she said.

She revealed that she had tried to stop people but failed, adding, "Bushra Bibi led the efforts, but the rest of the leadership should have stepped forward too." "The PTI founder remains in shock over the incident."

Imran also instructed his team to ensure the first FIR was lodged against Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Aleema also lamented the family's struggles to meet the incarcerated party supremo. "We waited outside for six hours yesterday but were not allowed to meet him. Today, our vehicle was stopped before the jail gates, but we followed the judge's protocol to gain entry."

Addressing rumours, she said, "Some said he was being poisoned, others claimed his mental health was deteriorating. But when we met him, he assured us his health was fine, despite being kept in isolation for 50 hours and denied access to newspapers and television."

Imran Khan warns govt of 'civil disobedience', demands judicial probe into PTI crackdown

Following the apparent failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) "do-or-die" protest, incarcerated party founder Imran Khan has warned the government of launching a "civil disobedience" movement if his demands, including the judicial probe into the crackdown on party supporters, are not met.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Imran — who has claimed to have a "trump card" — announced the constitution of a five-member negotiation committee comprising Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Salman Akram Raja and Asad Qaiser.

The committee, he said, would negotiate with the federal government on two points — the release of “political prisoners” facing trial and the constitution of a judicial commission to probe the events of May 9, 2023 and a late-night crackdown on PTI protesters on November 26.

“If these two demands are not accepted, a civil disobedience movement will be launched from December 14,” the jailed premier said, adding that the government would be responsible for the results of this movement.

The former ruling party's much-hyped protest in Islamabad, aimed at securing the PTI founder's release who has been behind bars for more than a year, culminated in party’s hasty retreat after the government's midnight crackdown on the protesters.

The Imran-founded party has since claimed that at least 12 of its workers were killed and 1,000 were arrested. However, the government has categorically denied using live ammunition against the protesters and said that four law enforcers including three Rangers personnel and policeman were martyred during the protest.

Furthermore, Imran — in his message today — also announced a "grand gathering" in Peshawar on December 13 to “pay homage to the martyrs” that, according to him, were killed during the PTI’s Islamabad protest.

He claimed that hunderds of PTI workers were "still missing," urging the Supreme Court to take notice of the incidents and "play its constitutional role."

“We approached the Supreme Court, Lahore and Islamabad high courts over serious violations of human rights, but no action was taken,” he added.

How many cases is Imran Khan facing?

The Ministry of Interior, Islamabad Police, FIA, and NAB have submitted reports to the court revealing the number of cases filed against Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to the latest report, the total number of cases filed against Imran Khan across the country has now reached 186.

The report revealed that 99 cases have been filed against Khan in Punjab, while 2 cases have been registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Additionally, the Islamabad Police report stated that 74 cases have been filed in the capital.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report highlighted that 7 cases or inquiries are pending against Khan. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also has 3 cases pending investigation.

Moreover, Khan’s appeal against his conviction in the Toshakhana criminal case is still under consideration.

It is also noted that several of these cases were filed in connection with protests held by Imran Khan in October, November, and December.

Earlier reports indicated that after the D-Chowk protest, 14 additional cases were filed against him in Islamabad, raising the total number of cases in the city to 76..

Imran miffed by party’s ‘all is well’ attitude

A day after his party leaders agreed to negotiate with the federal government if the offer was ‘serious’, former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday criticised the PTI leadership for acting like ‘all is well’ and reiterated his call for civil disobedience if the government continued to ignore his demands.

The PTI founder made these comments in a conversation with journalists after a court convened in Adiala jail indicted him and spouse Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case that pertained to Bulgari jewellery. This arraignment coincided with the indictment of his close aide Shah Mahmood Qureshi who, along with several party leaders, was charge-sheeted by an anti-terrorism court in the May 9 riots in Lahore.

Mr Khan expressed disappointment over the lack of accountability and public acknowledgement of violence that occurred during the D-Chowk protests in the last week of November. The PTI had claimed that the government used live ammunition against its supporters that killed 12 people — a claim denied by the federal government.

The former premier criticised the PTI leadership for not raising this issue forcefully in parliament while also expressing displeasure over statements of the party leaders which portrayed ‘all is well’. A day earlier, PTI interim chairman Gohar Ali Khan, while speaking in the National Assembly, said: “Even if bullets have been fired, there should at least be the courage to give answers, show remorse, apologise, investigate, and compensate the people.”

Mr Khan wondered why the party leadership is giving the impression of being a friendly opposition. “I’m not expressing no confidence in the leadership, but I am concerned with the handling of the D Chowk incident,” the PTI founder said, instructing the party leadership to upload the names of those who went missing during the D-Chowk protest.

In his media talk, the PTI founder reiterated his demands for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the D-Chowk crackdown and the release of detained PTI workers. He said if these demands were not met by December 15, the former ruling party would escalate the protest drive, including intensifying its call for civil disobedience and observing a day of mourning.

Regarding the court martial of the former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Faiz Hameed, Imran Khan said that the ex-spymaster was working under then-army chief retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and was not acting on his own. Mr Khan lambasted singer Salman Ahmed for hurling baseless allegations targeting former first lady Bushra Bibi and termed the tweets of Salman Ahmed as foolish.

Indictment in Toshakhana case

The second indictment of the ex-PM in as many weeks came in a corruption case being heard by a special court of the Federal Investigation Agency. Special Judge Central Sharukh Arjumand presided over the session and read out the charge sheet in the presence of both accused. Both individuals denied the charges levelled against them.

Following the indictment, the court announced that the regular trial would commence by Dec 18, summoning four prosecution witnesses for the next hearing. The prosecution submitted a list of 23 witnesses expected to testify in the case.

Mr Khan has been indicted in seven different cases since his first arrest in May 2023 which prompted attacks on state installations.

On May 10, 2023, he was indicted in the case based on a complaint of the Election Commission of Pakistan that accused him of concealing details of the state gifts he purchased from Toshakhana.

In January he was charge-sheeted in the Toshakhana reference related to a graff jewellery set; in February in the £190 million corruption case; and recently in the FIR registered against him over a violent protest outside the GHQ. He was also indicted on Dec 13, 2023, in the cipher case and in January in the Iddat case — in both of which the suspects were later acquitted.

PTI top brass indicted

An ATC in Lahore indicted former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other PTI leaders in yet another case of the May 9 riots.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the hearing at the Kot Lakhpat jail and framed charges against the PTI leaders, including Mr Qureshi, former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, former provincial minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, and former provincial minister Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed. All the accused persons pleaded not guilty and decided to contest the trial.

Following the denial, the judge directed the prosecution to present its witnesses on Dec 19 to establish the charges against the accused persons.

Separately, the judge recorded the statement of one prosecution witness in a case of attack and burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House (the residence of the Lahore corps commander). The judge adjourned the proceedings of a case related to the attack on Askari Tower till Dec 23 for the indictment of the suspects. Mr Qureshi and other PTI leaders have already been indicted in multiple cases of the May 9 riots.

The police in Lahore registered several cases against the PTI leaders and workers on charges of attacking public and private properties and army facilities, in particular on May 9, 2023, following the arrest of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan in a graft case by NAB.

Imran will call for stoppage of remittances, if demands not met: Aleema Khan

Aleema Khan has said her brother Imran Khan has said if his demands are not met, he will call for stopping remittances to the country.

Talking to the media here on Tuesday night, Aleema Khan said the PTI founder wanted the formation of a judicial commission on May 9 and November 24 issues and the release of detained PTI workers.

These are the demands with which the founder has sent his men to the government, she added.

She said the PTI founder has demanded the government accept his demands.

Earlier, Musadik Malik alleged Imran was playing a game, adding, “If PTI wants to have talks with treasury benches, it is ok.”

I don’t think there is any harm if the government initiates dialogue as it has been doing this in the past.

Politicians always hold dialogue in a democratic way,” he said.

Imran Khan wants overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances from tomorrow

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan asked on Saturday the overseas Pakistanis to halt the remittances from tomorrow (Sunday).

Expressing her thoughts, the PTI founder sister, Aleema Khan said: "The deposed premier has demanded the release of unjustly detained workers."

She said that people recognised those standing with the truth. She expressed the belief that the PTI founder would be convicted in the 190 million pound reference case.

Aleema maintained: "The trial court sentences often saw relief from high courts."

Calling the case absurd, she questioned: "Why forming a welfare organisation was being penalised?"

Aleema expressed confidence that the reference would ultimately be dismissed in the high court. She confirmed plans to appeal the case in the high court if a conviction occurred, predicting Imran Khan might face three to four additional months in jail.

Discussing political matters, she highlighted that further cases against party workers clarified the government's unwillingness to hold negotiations. Imran Khan demanded the release of unjustly detained workers and an investigation by judicial commissions into incidents on May 9 and November 26.

She made it clear that the campaign will be suspended if discussions commenced over the two demands.

Imran Khan to decide fate of civil disobedience campaign tomorrow: Shaukat Yousafzai

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai clarified that the civil disobedience movement initiated by the party remains active, pending a decision from former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Express News reported.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Yousafzai stated, “The civil disobedience call has not been withdrawn. A final decision will depend on the seriousness of the government’s committee.”

He stated that any decision to continue, defer, or conclude the civil disobedience movement rests solely with Imran Khan. “PTI leadership will meet with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail tomorrow to update him on the situation, after which he will issue further directives,” he said.

The statement comes after the government announced the formation of a negotiation committee to engage with PTI. Yousafzai reiterated that the future of the movement will hinge on the outcome of these talks. He added, “Imran Khan will evaluate the government’s approach and decide whether to maintain or defer the civil disobedience movement.”

Imran Khan admits government stabilised bankrupting economy

Imran Khan, founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has acknowledged that the current government has managed to stabilise Pakistan’s struggling economy, which was on the verge of collapse, Express News reported.

While speaking to the media from Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, Imran stated, "The government has successfully prevented the economy from becoming bankrupt."

When questioned by journalists about whether he was conceding that the government had improved the economy, Imran responded, "The economy has been stabilised, and it has been saved from bankruptcy, but it has not seen growth yet."

Meanwhile, a delegation from PTI’s negotiation committee arrived at Adiala Jail to meet with Imran Khan.

The committee will brief him on the progress made during the first round of talks, sources confirmed.

The delegation includes key PTI leaders such as Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Allama Nasir Abbas, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Gandapur’s vehicle was allowed entry into the jail premises for the meeting.

PTI founder rejects exile or house arrest, says Aleema Khan

Aleema Khan revealed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder expressed disappointment over the lack of seriousness regarding his demands.

Speaking outside Adiala Jail, she quoted him saying, “Keep me in jail, but release the other prisoners.”

Aleema emphasized that the PTI founder firmly stated he would neither leave the country nor accept house arrest. He noted that if two of his demands are fulfilled, he would encourage overseas Pakistanis to resume sending remittances to Pakistan.

She further quoted him highlighting three critical factors for Pakistan's economic stability: the rule of law, political stability, and peace. Without these, she stated, the country's economy cannot thrive.

Avoid compromise on prisoners' release: Imran Khan to PTI

Imran Khan, the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has issued a firm directive to his party to avoid any compromise on the issue of prisoner release as talks with the government approach.

Imran's message came during a meeting with two members of PTI’s negotiation committee – Barrister Ali Zafar and Suleman Akram Raja – at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Express News reported.

The meeting, held ahead of the second round of talks scheduled for later today, was a critical discussion to finalise PTI’s strategy.

Suleman Akram Raja, who spoke briefly to the media after the meeting, reaffirmed the party’s position. "We are standing firm on our stance, and we remain hopeful about the success of the negotiations," he said.

Following the meeting, the two committee members left the jail to prepare for the next round of negotiations.

Imran Khan’s clear instruction to the committee was not to give in to any pressure regarding the release of prisoners, a key sticking point in the ongoing political dialogue.

This upcoming round of negotiations is expected to be pivotal.

The first round of talks, which took place on December 23, concluded with both sides agreeing to continue discussions. Today’s meeting will follow that initial agreement, where the government’s committee will again engage with PTI representatives to try to reach a resolution.

The government’s team is led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and includes key figures such as Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and others.

PTI’s negotiating committee is headed by former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and includes party leaders such as Ejaz Chaudhry, Hamid Raza, and Raja Nasser Abbas.

Earlier today, mercy petitions submitted by 19 individuals convicted for their involvement in the May 9 protests have been approved, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced in a statement on Thursday.

“Sequel to the promulgation of punishments to 9th May Tragedy convicts, they have exercised their right to appeal and have asked for mercy / remission in their punishments,” the military’s media wing stated.

The ISPR further said that a total of 67 convicts had submitted mercy petitions, with 48 of these petitions processed to Courts of Appeal. It added that the petitions of 19 convicts had been accepted “purely on humanitarian grounds, in accordance with law.”

“They all shall be released after completion of procedural formalities,” the statement continued.

The press release also mentioned that the mercy petitions of the remaining convicts would be decided in due course, following the legal process. It emphasised that all those convicted retain their right to appeal and pursue other legal remedies as per the law and constitution.

“The remission of punishments is a testament to the strength of the due process and fairness, which ensures that justice is served while also taking into account the principles of compassion and mercy,” the ISPR concluded.

In December, military courts sentenced 60 more civilians to prison terms for their roles in violent attacks on military installations during the nationwide riots on May 9, 2023.

The sentences come just days after the ISPR announced that 25 civilians had been handed prison terms for their involvement in the same events.

The individuals have been convicted for their involvement in violent attacks on key military and government facilities, including the Corps Commander House in Lahore, the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the ISI office in Faisalabad, and Bannu Cantt, among others, the ISPR stated.

“Sequel to the announcement of the May 9 punishments in light of the Supreme Court’s decision, the Field General Court Martial has promulgated the punishments to the following remaining 60 culprits after examining all evidences, ensuring the provision of all legal rights to the convicts, completion of due process and the appropriate legal proceedings,” the statement said.

The statement further emphasised that all individuals sentenced have the legal right to appeal, as outlined by the country's laws.

No pressure for Imran Khan's release, says Rana Sanaullah

Adviser to Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, says there is no pressure from anywhere for Imran Khan's release.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah mentioned that during the first round of talks, they had asked PTI to submit their demands in writing, but their statements suggest otherwise.

He said they aimed to initiate a national dialogue among political parties, but the statements from PTI leaders and Imran Khan's tweets indicate an unwillingness to have straightforward discussions.

He highlighted Ali Amin Gandapur and Sher Afzal Marwat's conversations about Aleema Khan as noteworthy. He also recalled Aleema Khan's previous claims about attempts to poison Imran Khan in jail.

Kaptaan has shown bravery way beyond anyone expected. But he has also inspired others to show bravery that we can only dream off. Dr Yasmin and other political leaders and the 1000s of party workers have sacrificed life and limb for PK. As a PK, I owe debt of gratitude to these brave warriors
