RJD did very well on this election and credit must be given to Tejashwi Yadav. Such a young guy coming out of the shadows of his corrupt dad and taking on power houses like Nitish/Modi was not easy. So full marks to his campaign and hard work.
The blame goes to Congress and only congress. Even RJD is repenting now of giving so many seats to them. Had RJD fought on more seats, they could have won the election. Maybe its a stereotype but people of India just dont trust in congress anymore. They are slowly becoming a baggage for other regional parties too.
Tejashwi Yadav lost this election which he should have won due to Rahul Gandhi.
Nitish Kumar won this election which he should have lost due to Narendra Modi.
RJD did well.
But they could have done a lot more.
Crisis is like an opportunity for politicians. They missed out.
You had a once in a lifetime crisis like Covid and RJD was too slow to act.
As for Congress, the less said about them, the better.
Their state machinery is a joke.
When it comes to state elections, a lot of local issues matter.
For example, not a single soul in TN cared whether Amma was convicted or not. They would have voted for her cos DMK did too much goonda giri.
But if you go and talk to people who have factories, businesses...they would say DMK did scamming but they focused on development too.
My Dad was talking about how certain Brahmin priests in our community will vote for DMK (without ever talking about it outside) cos they wouldn't interfere in their matters and won't affect their livelihood.
State elections are a culmination of 1000s of local issues like this.
To win, you gotta identify problems for each community, caste, area and make a gameplan.
Having a leader is important (they did have Tejaswi who got huge crowds and was rallying like crazy) but it's also important to have the groundwork done which I believe BJP is too good at.
I read that Bihar's votes are divided the following way:
RJD gets 30% of votes. Caste.
NDA gets the upper caste votes.
Nitish gets 15%-20% of votes (he might get more but this much is guaranteed).
When 2 out of 3 joins, the remaining one has to sit out.
When MGB was formed originally, RJD and Nitish joined forces. BJP was kept out.
Now Nitish and BJP have joined forces....RJD was kept out.
That's the game and it is what it is.
Tho in the latest election, you had a gazzilion issues to focus on and turn the tables....Too bad MGB couldn't do it.
1. RJD was good but it's strike rate is STILL lesser than BJP.
2. Left did much much better.
3. The main culprit is Congress tho.
