Babar and Rohit are in different leagues.
They are both human beings, and a human being who is struggling to do well in his job/life and ends up finding success is worth celebrating and cherishing.

Rohit scoring a century after a prolonged struggle is a moment to celebrate, and same applies to Babar as well. Not everything is about cheap point scoring.

Basit Ali speaking on his YouTube channel

"What is the worst thing that can happen, he will get out for a duck. But he should play his natural game like he did in the 2023 ODI World Cup and sidelined the opposition in the first 10 overs."

"He silenced everyone with his performance. We say this very often that form is temporary, class is permanent. Today, he showed the same."

Whatever it may, the CT should be the last for Rohit. Time for Ind to move past him and Kohli. Rohits captaincy is more of a concern - timid and defensive

Babar can't dream of hitting a 200 in ODI let alone 250 plus.

The class difference is so funny that you sound imbecile when you compare the two.

Rohit is at his twilight and his twilight is better than Babar's peak.

Off course you can put your head in mud and consider Babar better.
Babar blows Rohit out of the water in ODIs check their numbers. Babar innings vs Australia is better than smashing Lankan trundlers for 250 in a meaningless match.

I said the same in another thread, Rohit Sharma was the only one who could score runs vs SrLanka last year in ODIs, there is not much wrong with him in ODIs. He needs to retire from test, the best way is to win this trophy and then retire from cricket as a two time ICC Trophy winning captain.

Rohit just got humiliated in Australia and had to drop himself. Babar top scored in SA vs SA. Talent wise Babar > Rohit. He just needs longevity.

Or Rohit had the ability to realize he wasn't performing and dropped himself.

Babar career trajectory on decline since 2 years and still he is shameful enough to keep selecting himself.

Although tomorrow Maphaka and Shamsi etc are his best chance to bully weak attacks like you mentioned.

Rohit is still a gun opener in ODI. And I think he will do well this upcoming tournament, probably even a score a hundred against his favourite opponent BD in the opener. But every good things comes to an end. after CT25, he should retire from international cricket.

SA in SA was a weak attack in test? I expect better from you Dr Sahab

Were you talking about ODI when you spoke about Rohit dropping himself? Don't be intellectually dishonest. Btw ATG Rohit got out for 1.

You seem to have reading issues.

You were the one who commented on Rohit being dropped first so I replied as you wanted to.

Anyhow, Rohit is at twilight of his career.

Don't expect him to make 100s every game.

Rohit Sharma unlikely to play Test cricket after Champions Trophy, BCCI can appoint this star as new red-ball captain

The fact that Jasprit Bumrah is being considered as India's future Test captain was one of the main reasons the board did not want to take a chance on him for the Champions Trophy 2025. BCCI chairman of selection Ajit Agarkar was faced with a tough decision after the National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical team, led by Nitin Patel kept the ball in his court regarding Bumrah's Champions Trophy participation. The NCA stated in its report that Bumrah's most recent scan reports were flawless, although the top-ranked pacer had not yet begun bowling at full capacity.

The team administration and selectors did not want to take a chance because the Champions Trophy was only a week away. Because of his leadership potential as well as his skill as a fast bowler—there is no question that he is currently the finest bowler in all formats—Bumrah needed to be protected. Bumrah has essentially been confirmed by the BCCI as India's next Test skipper.

According to a report from, PTI Bumrah, the designated Test vice-captain, will assume leadership of the team after the England tour in June and July of this year, and current India captain Rohit Sharma is unlikely to be chosen for Test matches any more.

"It is understood that the main bone of contention was that Bumrah is yet to start bowling full tilt and those in the know of things said that it is very difficult to get match-fit in such a short time. Rather, he can come back for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and then lead India in England as Rohit Sharma is unlikely to be picked for Tests again," Hindustan Times quoted the report as stating.

So far, Bumrah has captained India in three Test matches; Rohit was unavailable on both occasions. When Bumrah had to come up in the fifth and final Test match against England in Birmingham in 2022, the opener was fighting Covid. Despite India's defeat in that Test, Bumrah demonstrated his leadership abilities. When Rohit came in Australia late last year to give birth to his second kid, he was given his next chance.

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opening match in Perth, Bumrah bowled India to win with his astonishing bowling performance. By the way, in an otherwise poor series, that was the only Indian Test match that India won. When Rohit made the unprecedented decision to leave himself out of the playing XI for the final Test match in Sydney, Bumrah once more assumed the role of captain. Unfortunately, Bumrah sustained an injury after only bowling 10 overs during the match, and India lost, losing the series 1-3.

In 2024, Rohit Sharma had his worst season in Test cricket, averaging under 25 and recording more single-figure scores than ever before. Rohit is form, especially in Test cricket, has slumped since the glory of winning the T20 World Cup. In his last eight Test matches, the seasoned right-hander has only amassed 164 runs at an average of 10.9 runs. In addition, India lost all six Test matches under Rohit is tenure as captain from late 2024 to early 2025, including three Test losses in Australia with Rohit scoring 2, 52, 0, 8, 18, 11, 3, 6, 10, 3, and a first-ever whitewash at home against New Zealand.

Despite Rohit saying that he had no intention of retiring from any format, it appears that the board had already discussed the future with him. In April, Rohit will turn 38; he will be 40 by the time the World Test Championship final occurs. The selection committee sought to consider a permanent alternative because of his declining form.

As per the above reports, Is rohit trying to tell he wants to play till 27 wc shamelessly. He doesn't want to retire from odis ?

@jnaveen1980 @Devadwal
He will be kicked out. Unlike other countries India has a completely new XI that can replace this XI. Great bench strength. T20 has clearly proved that. So prolonged failures will not be taken lightly going forward.

From the 4th slowest to reach 2000 runs in ODIs to 2nd fastest to reach 11000 runs in ODIs. Rohit Sharma has come a long way

Yuvraj Singh backed skipper Rohit Sharma's match-winning abilities while speaking on a local media platform:

"In ODI cricket, especially in white-ball formats, he has been India's biggest match-winner as a batsman, alongside Virat Kohli. If Rohit is struggling but still gets runs, that is dangerous for the opposition. If he is in form, he will score a century in 60 balls. That is his quality--once he gets going, he is not just hitting fours; he is clearing the ropes with sixes. He is also one of the best players of the short ball. Even if someone bowls at 145-150 kmph, Rohit has the ability to hook it effortlessly. His strike rate is always between 120-140, and on his day, he can single-handedly win you the game."

Rohit Sharma became the quickest player to score 9000 runs as an opener in ODIs, achieving the milestone in just 181 innings. He surpassed the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who reached the mark in 197 innings, making Rohit the first player to accomplish this feat in under 190 innings. Known for his dominance as an opener, Rohit has also registered three ODI double-hundreds, including a record-breaking 264, the highest individual score in ODI history.

Hitman started well. He looks good but just needs to work on his fitness. I prefer scoring a few runs quickly rather than playing tuk..tuk and wasting the powerplay. :inti
Well done, Rohit.

Rohit led well today for a change. His bowling changes were effective though I doubt about their effectiveness had the opposition been any good.

Well done, Rohit.
He is Brendon Mccullum 2.0 of late...it all started from CWC 2023...only end of power play marks his end now

Rohit bhai in LOIs is a force of nature these days. There’s no escape. He’s gonna come out and do his thing. Dhishum Dhishum 🥊

Except for that ton against England, he has been pedestrian with bat so far. Hope he changes that in semis.

Rohit is heading towards another title if he does make any huge blunders. He needs to bat well himself at the start though. That 92% win record in ICC tournament is something commendable.

Congress’s Shama Mohamed Defends ‘Rohit Sharma Is Fat’ Remark Amid Big Row: ‘In A Democracy…’

Congress spokesperson Dr Shama Mohamed deleted her post calling Indian captain Rohit Sharma “fat" and “unimpressive" following massive backlash. In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), she said, “Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!"

Despite the outrage, Mohamed doubled down on her criticism, defending her stance by comparing Rohit to past Indian captains. She questioned his decision-making, stating, “Didn’t he move KL Rahul to bat at number 3 at the MCG Test & put himself at number 1 which backfired totally! Wasn’t that a selfish move? Because of that, Shubam Gill was out of the XI."

“Didn’t we lose the last World Cup which took place in Ahmedabad? I have compared him to our previous captains," the Congress spokesperson went on to say.

Even as her remarks sparked a heated debate, Mohamed continued her attack, calling Rohit a “mediocre player" and a “mediocre captain". In another post, she argued, “What is so world class about him when compared to his predecessors like Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dravid, Dhoni, Kohli, Kapil Dev, Shastri and the rest! He is a mediocre captain as well as a mediocre player who got lucky to be the Captain of India."

“It was just a generic tweet about the fitness of a sportsperson. It is not body shaming. It is about the fitness of a sportsperson. I always believe a sports person has to be fit. So, I felt he is a bit overweight, so I tweeted on that. I am being attacked for no reason," Mohamed told ANI.

She added, “When I compared him to other captains like Dhoni, or for that matter Ganguly, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, and Virat, so I put up a statement."

She went on to say, “It [India] is a democracy. I have the right," asking, “What’s wrong in saying?"

Shama Mohamed defended herself by praising Virat Kohli, recalling how he stood by Mohammed Shami when the pacer faced backlash after India’s loss to Pakistan. “Let’s not forget how Virat Kohli was attacked when he supported his teammate Mohammed Shami. They lost against Pakistan and most of them started attacking Shami, and Virat, being the captain, stood by his teammate," Shama Mohamed praised Virat Kohli.

She further highlighted Kohli’s leadership, saying, “Virat Kohli, whenever there is a youngster who catches a ball in a match, he goes and hugs him. He leads from the front. He scores runs. He is a captain of the team, and he always compliments the other person whenever there is an opponent who does well. Virat Kohli compliments them.

“I just spoke in a generic manner and I failed to understand that in a democracy we don’t have the right to speak in such a manner," the Congress leader defended herself.

This, however, is not the first time that Indian Captain Rohit Sharma has been fat-shamed. Former South African cricketer Daryll Cullinan raised concerns about Rohit Sharma’s fitness and even compared him to Virat Kohli.

“Look at Rohit, then at Virat. Notice the difference in their physical condition. Rohit is overweight, and not a long-term cricketer anymore. Rohit is not in a good physical condition to play in a four or a five-match Test series," Cullinan told InsideSport in December last year.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has responded to Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed while talking to a local channel:

"It is very unfortunate that a responsible person has passed this kind of comment which is very derogratory and damaging to an individual player who is in the middle of an important ICC marquee tournament. All the players in the team are performing exceedingly well and irresponsible statements like these can have some adverse impact."

"I hope that no responsible person from any important organisation makes this kind of comment for their personal publicity at the risk of damaging the team's performance in the tournament."

Bjp is doing unnecessary drama.rohit is what he is.Rohit earned his place along side with inji with fitness, which itself is quite an annoying insult.bhajji once mocked Lehman by enquiring if he is a pregnant. Now a days even chess players are looking quite fit.

What we can expect from anti national and trailer party leader.

But she purposely made this statement on the eve of India v/s. AUS semifinal. Rohit Sharma was also not made run in Australian tour but at that time she was mum. Why she made this statement now.
Her motive is to disturb rhythm of Indian team, so India could loose Semi final and the final will be played in Lahore.

Now you came to know who is behind this congress leaders.

"I only want to say one thing, jiska kaam usee ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje (the work only suits those to whom it belongs; if done by anyone else, it is ruined). Indian cricketers, people and the land are more dear to me than my own life. If someone in the political system makes such a statement about a player who has brought pride to our nation, that person should be ashamed."

"They have no right to stay in our nation. Cricket is our religion; we lost against New Zealand and Australia, and a lot of things were said about Rohit and Virat. We stood up for them. I feel so sad. These things happen in Pakistan. Their former star player said, 'Who will eat so many bananas?' (Taking a jibe at Wasim Akram). Action should be taken. This should not be tolerated. If I were the prime minister, I would have said, pack your bags and leave the country."

Sunil Gavaskar, while speaking to a local media outlet:

"I have always said, if you want only slim guys, then you should go to a modelling competition and pick all the models. It’s not about that. It’s about how well you can play cricket. We talked about Sarfaraz Khan—he was vilified for a long time because he was on the heavier side. But if he scores 150 for India in a Test match and follows it up with another two or three fifty-plus scores, then what’s the issue?"

"I don’t think size has anything to do with it. It’s your mental strength—whether you can last the distance—that’s the most important thing. Bat well, bat for long, and score runs."

Isn't Rohit fat?

He is, by far fattest in Indian contingent.

Then why the hullabaloo over the statement by sanghis and their andhbhakts? Has Rohit too joined sanghi ranks? Last I checked, he hasn't, at least not yet. Then has it become anti national to speak about fitness of captain of your cricket team?

In his prime, he is around 30% as lethal as Travis Head which is a huge accomplishments. Right now however he's just okay as a batsmen but > every pakistani batter in the current unit.

Rohit, Dont care about the toss. His team is winning and that is why he is relaxed I think. They can chase, they can defend so why bother about toss....

Rohit loses another toss that too in an all-important semi-final of the CT2025 against Australia.

How unlucky he is TBH

Should call it a day. They have Jaiswal on deck to replace him. So they will be fine.

Who are India grooming for number 3 when Kohli retires? Not sure who they have to replace Kohli. I am assuming they would want Iyer to stay at 4.

He could have been the key, but India still going strong.

I hope the Hitman plays a big innings in the final and retires gracefully.
For the first time, I felt he is done. His fitness levels are not up to international standards, and he heavily relied on quick runs in the powerplay.

I would go with Pant, Jaiswal, Gill or Abhishek, Jaiswal, Gill. You need a dasher at the top in the 2 new balls era.

Suryakumar Yadav reiterated that there was no doubting Rohit's ability:

“If you see him as a captain, in the last 4 years, he has taken the team to the finals of 4 ICC trophies. So it is a big thing, and if a person is playing cricket for 15-20 years, it is a big thing, and I have seen him closely; he works very hard,"

“In my opinion, he is at the top, and I wish him all the best for the finals."

“I have already said that we are playing good cricket. If we play the same brand of cricket, then the final is just another game,"

Sai should replace kohli at 3.He has the temperament and technique to survive on south African pitches.Having pant , kl should be discouraged as we will not have much bowling options. Nitish can be tried at 5 as he is solid player with good attacking shots and clutch mentality. Jurel is also good .we should experiment more and get the rt combo. There should be no point of carrying on washed up players and mental midgets for next wc.

If India wins chances of these guys retiring is very high. From that angle hope that happens. KL Rahul will be hanging on to his spot. Jadeja is doubtful that he will retire.

I think whatever happens rohit will go.he can't last more than 15 balls let alone pp.kl will be on the edge with pant, Samson, jurel .Nitish will aso have a good chance at 5.still 2.5 years for next odi wc, so kl may crack at some point of time for team sake 😀. Jadeja will be almost 39 for next wc.so i don't think he will be there.washi may fill him up. Usual suspects as per me.

Jaiswal
Gill
Sai
Iyer
Nitish
Wk ?
Pandya
Axar
Washi/Abhishek as floater
Bumrah
Arshdeep/Rana/Siraj

If jaiswal, sai can Improve their bowling it should be good.Tilak will be interesting case as he was found out completely last time in sa.As Africa pitches are tough , we need dashers at right places than upfront.
