At the young age of 19 years and 336 days; Seales just became youngest ever West Indian to take a test 5fer.

Thoughts?

Alzarri didn't take his chances, it's Seales' time now.

A lot to like. Tall, decently quick, good seam positions and more importantly balls very good test match lines ane lengths which is the key to be consistent in the long run.

If he can maintain his strengths and develop them further he can have a bright future.

I say let us wait for him to perform against top teams. Even Marcus North has a five for against Pakistan.

A star! Lovely bowling action. Keep him away from Mickey mouse leagues please.

In 80s he would have been idealizing Holding and Roberts and working hard on his fitness and pace to become a successful test fast bolwer.

Now in 2021, soon he will be approached by different T20 leagues, he will change his bowling to be successful in T20 cricket, will drop down his pace and will lose interest in "useless " test cricket.

As with all other Windies young players, he will either fade away or look for T20 contracts. The Windies won't benefit too much

Seales reprimanded and handed one demerit point
Jayden Seales received one demerit point and was also reprimanded following a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Pakistan in Kingston, Jamaica during the first day's play, the cricket website Cricbuzz has reported.

The 19-year-old pacer was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct - Using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.

The incident happened during the 70th over of Pakistan's first innings when Seales used inappropriate language towards Hasan Ali following Pakistan No. 9's batsman dismissal, stated the ICC.

Umpires Gregory Brathwaite, Joel Wilson, Nigel Duguid and TV umpire Leslie Reifer levelled the charge, with the sanction being imposed by match referee Richie Richardson. Seales pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed charge.

The demerit point remains on the player's disciplinary record for a period of 24 months. Should the player accumulate four or more demerit points, they are converted to suspension points. Two Suspension Points result in a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the player.

Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of fast-bowler Jayden Seales for the first 3 months of the 2023 season.

Born in Trinidad & Tobago, Seales made his Test debut for the West Indies at 19 years of age against South Africa in June 2021 and made an immediate impact as he took 3 wickets at an economy of 3.57 from his 21 overs.

He has since gone on to play 9 Tests for his country, taking 36 wickets at an average of 21.77. His best figures came against Pakistan in August 2021 when he took 5-55, making him the youngest West Indies bowler to take a Test match fifer.

The exciting young seamer was also the leading wicket taker at the 2021 LPL in Sri Lanka and will be available for Sussex for 3 months starting in April to play both County Championship and T20 cricket.

Commenting on the move, Seales said: "As a young fast-bowler, I want to expose myself to as many different conditions and challenges as possible. I can't wait to test myself in England and hopefully contribute to a winning start for Sussex in both Championship and T20 cricket."

Speaking on signing, Sussex Performance Director, Keith Greenfield, added: “Securing a quality overseas fast/seam bowler was hugely important us for the start of next summer, particularly in Championship cricket, so to secure Jayden ahead of others is fantastic for us.

“Those who have played against him and seen him at close quarters have been impressed by his skills and appetite for bowling.

“He has certainly started impressively in Test cricket, and it is also great that he wants to play County cricket and knows how important it can be for him going forward.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the Club and seeing him charging down the hill at The 1st Central County Ground in a Sussex shirt.”

AMAZING SPELL BY JAYDEN SEALES!!!!

He's only 22 and took 6 wickets (6/61) against South Africa in the Second Test! The future of West Indies cricket is in good hands.

The sixth wicket took Seales to career-best figures in first-class cricket, with his previous best being 5-29. It was also the joint second-best figures for the West Indies against South Africa on home soil, equalling Courtney Walsh's 6-61 in Trinidad in 2001. Curtly Ambrose remains in the top spot in that regard, having taken 6-34 in Bridgetown in 1992.

Does this guy have an IPL contract? Surely will be grabbed if not already.

Seales' Historic Achievement

West Indies pacer Jayden Seales showed exceptional bowling on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at Sabina Park, Kingston. Seales delivered an outstanding spell, conceding only five runs over 15.5 overs, including 10 maidens, and taking four wickets. His performance made history as the most economical bowling spell in Test cricket since 1977.

Seales' economy rate of 0.31 ranks as the seventh-best in Test history. He surpassed England legend Jim Laker, who recorded an economy rate of 0.37 against South Africa in 1957. The all-time record belongs to India's Bapu Nadkarni, who conceded just 0.15 runs per over against England in 1964, delivering a spell of 32 overs with 27 maidens and allowing only five runs.

Seales now holds the record for the most economical four-wicket haul in Test cricket history. Previously, this feat was achieved by Pakistan's Pervez Sajjad, who had an economy rate of 0.41 runs per over against New Zealand in 1965. Sajjad bowled 12 overs with eight maidens, conceding five runs and claiming four wickets.

For the West Indies, the record for the most economical bowling in an innings still belongs to Sir Garfield Sobers. The legendary all-rounder bowled 14 overs, including 11 maidens, allowing only three runs at an economy rate of 0.21 against New Zealand in 1956.

Before Seales, the most economical spell in Test cricket since 1978 was delivered by India’s Umesh Yadav, who maintained an economy rate of 0.42 against South Africa in 2015. Yadav bowled 21 overs, with 16 maidens, conceding just nine runs while taking three wickets.

Outstanding bowler

What a pace attack

Seales roach Joseph shamari

That's a top class attack

If only they had just 2 good batsmen. They could compete with top 3 teams easy if they did.

Jayden Seales Fined for Breaching ICC Code of Conduct

West Indies bowler Jayden Seales has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test match against Bangladesh. Seales was found guilty under Article 2.20, which covers "conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game," following an inappropriate and aggressive gesture towards the opposition’s dressing room after taking a wicket.

Additionally, Seales has received one demerit point, marking his first offence within a 24-month period. Seales admitted the offence and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, so no formal hearing was required.

Pakistan tried to create rank-turner and spin-friendly tracks but this guy is making a mockery of that pitch.

Took 3 wickets so far against Pakistan in the 1st test match.

Beautiful setup from Jayden against Hurraira.

All his three wickets so far against Pakistan in the first Test during the opening session came with different variations and a tight line.

What a day for Jayden Seales. A 3rd five-wicket haul of his career against Australia in the 1st inning of the 1st Test match.

Windies Test bowling attack looks lethal with him and Shamar Joseph in the side.

West Indies quick hails five-wicket haul his best yet in Tests

Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph combined for nine wickets, before Australia's pace attack fought back hard late on an exciting first day in Barbados.

West Indies quick Jayden Seales believes his five-wicket haul against Australia on the opening day of the first Test in Barbados was his best effort yet.

Seales and fellow pacer Shamar Joseph ripped through the highly-rated Australian batting order to dismiss the tourists for just 180, before the Aussies fought back to have the hosts reeling at 57/4 at stumps following an action-packed opening day to the ICC World Test Championship encounter at Kensington Oval.

It was the third time in his short international career that Seales has registered a five-wicket haul and the fiery 23-year-old - who is 10th on the ICC Men's Test Bowler Rankings - said it was his favourite one yet.

"This is probably my best five-wicket haul because it wasn't my best day and I didn't feel at my best any time throughout the day," Seales said.

"There were times I felt good, but throughout spells I didn't feel like I was in full control of what I wanted to do or was executing or nailing my lengths and lines as consistently as I wanted, so this one is probably my most special one."

It was Joseph that did the early damage for the West Indies as he dismissed Sam Konstas and Cameron Green during a blistering opening spell to help reduce Australia to 22/3 and it took a 89-run partnership from Travis Head and Usman Khawaja to wrest the momentum back from the West Indies quicks.

"I think that's what opened the game right up for us," Seales said of Joseph's early spell.

"Blowing away the top-order is the most important thing in this cricket, and that made it a lot easier for us in the middle and in the back end of the innings, so he did a fantastic job for us today."

Head, who top-scored for Australia with 59 and was the only batter on the day to surpass 50, was full of praise for the West Indies’ bowling attack.

"I thought Jayden bowled exceptionally well," Head said after play.

"Alzarri (Joseph) is always there or thereabouts and Shamar again put the ball in the right areas and asked questions.

"There were no surprises on what they were able to bring and get things out of the wicket, but vice versa.

"We were able to do the same thing tonight (during the final session) and probably makes for an important couple of hours in the morning."

West Indies quick sanctioned following Barbados incident

West Indies pacer Jayden Seales hit with a fine and a loss of a demerit point following an incident during Australia's first innings.

West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for an incident during the opening day's play of the first Test against Australia in Barbados.

The incident occurred during the 55th over of Australia's first innings at Kensington Oval, when Seales gestured to the dressing room after dismissing opposing captain Pat Cummins.

It was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

Seales played down the incident when quizzed for more information at stumps on the first day.

"It did not really mean anything and it was more a bit of frustration," Seales said.

"Pat hit a couple of good shots off me and I just showed him where the dressing room was and there wasn't really anything in it."

Seales received the fine and also has one demerit point added to his record, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period, taking his tally of demerit points in a 24-month period to two.

Seales and the West Indies fast bowlers were in the action again on Thursday as the Caribbean side showed plenty of fight against the reigning ICC World Test Championship runners up.

Shai Hope (48) and skipper Roston Chase (44) added 67 for the sixth wicket to help the West Indies open up a 10-run lead on the first innings and Australia's top-order was once again undone as the tourists reached 92/4 and an overall lead of 82.

Seales was among the wicket takers late on the second day as he bowled Josh Inglis for 12 for his sixth scalp of the match, with Travis Head (13) and Beau Webster (19) to resume on Friday and the Test match evenly poised.
