[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Mohammad Hasnain 2.0 : performance watch

Wasim Akram took jibe at Mohammad Hasnain owing to his awful performance today against PZ:

"Mohammad Hasnain 1/52, you don't leak so many runs even if you are consistently bowling full tosses with the foreknowledge of batsman. His bowling has gone down the drain unfortunately and he needs to think twice on that. He got the pace and that's it. He hasn't impressed anyone in this PSL so far. He was injured before the PSL and then suddenly become fit. He doesn't concentrate on red ball cricket. And if you don't, you get the results what you are getting."

He's like a really bad version of Mohammad Sami, who wasn't really any good himself.

On this day in 2000. Mohammad Hasnain was born. Happy Birthday to the right-arm pacer.

37 International wickets so far in his international career
He is only the 2nd Pakistani to take a T20I hat trick
PSL 2019 champion and Player of the Match in the final

This guy reminds me of Muhammad Sami. Another speedster whose career was wasted both by the board and himself.

Mohammad Hasnain got smashed in the 1st match of the Lanka Premier League against the Dambulla Sixers.... conceded 53 runs in 4 overs for 1 wicket.

Such a downfall.. seemed good fee years ago.
Guess it’s all about leagues now

Anymore yeah.. insane downfall.. sometime ago seemed Naseem might go that way too but he didn’t..
Naseem can even bat somewhat compared to Ifti Shadab etc.(for now).
Naseem improved alot specially with new ball and yeah thats true he can become a very handy lower order batter.

Hasnain just wasted himself!

It’s not easy to consistently improve yourself, talented guys like Unmukt chand, Ishan Kishan had so much attitude and didn’t want to learn.

Prithvi Shaw too massive downfall.

In the must-win game for Kandy Falcon against Colombo Strikers in Eliminator of LPL 2024, Mohammad Hasnain put in an average performance, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs. He is a habitual spray gun who tends to leak runs

Mohammad Hasnain won't excel until he focuses on his variations instead of pace. In Qualifier 2 of LPL 2024, playing for Kandy Falcons, he conceded 48 runs and took 2 wickets in 4 overs against Jaffna Kings.

I thought Hasnain would be the next big fast bowler when he burst on to the scene. He kind of reminds me of Sami in the sense that he had everything but couldn’t grow his potential. He had the height, pace, fitness; he is/was seriously fit, natural athlete, and even the personality to be a star. Such a shame, it would be fascinating to know why he regressed so much. Was it the modified action after he was called for chucking?

The reason is simple, he is not working on his line, length and variations.

The reason is simple, he is not working on his line, length and variations.
It is hard of me to digest the fact that a professional fast bowler is not working on their line, length and variations.

May be Hasnain is working on these areas, but he is just not good enough.

He's playing T20 cricket & only T20 cricket. He is using his pace & variations to get batters out.

In first class cricket, you learn line & length bowling, discipline & intelligence. Until he starts playing first class cricket, he will not improve.

The same story for many Pakistan players.

7 FC, 26 List A and 114 t20 matches, he has played in his career. That's concerning.

That's literally what the gen z want to do is become globetrotters and do the easy way of earning as much as possible as fast as possible.
That too is so easy to do now is by just bowling 4 overs a match and earn worth of playing a whole year of international cricket for your country.

Pakistan players don't want to be playing FC cricket especially when they're financially not stable and then can do an easy job as this.

Since he remolded his action, he has not been that effective. Was a regular in the team some years ago but he faded away because he was another brainless pacer who only knows how to bowl fast. Young prospect who was not well groomed.

Mohammad Hasnain delivered a maiden over to Mohammad Rizwan, with good variations in his lines and a consistent pace.

Am extremely concerned by his action. I observe that he is clearly jerking, throwing when he gets put under the pump. Very high risk to be called in international cricket.

Unfortunately Pakistan's domestic cricket quality has gone down drastically. Thats why their domestic stars cant prosper in international cricket. You need to address this first otherwise a lots of batsmen like Saim, Khushdil,Asif, Haider, Haris will be produced .

Hasnain has bowled well in this tournament. Good to see him but he is still not gonna be making any comeback until he shows consistency and fitness.

Hasnain has all the attributes to be a quality bowler and he shows glimpses every now and then. I personally prefer him over Haris Rauf, M Wasim Jnr & Dahani.

I wonder if PCB can hire someone who can mentally strengthen some of these young guns.

Hasnain is making a strong case to make a come back in Pakistan team

He will likely get his chance when Pakistan goes to tour Australia. If Pakistan think tank have any sense, they will rest Shaheen & Naseem for the white ball tours in Australia & Zimbabwe and bring them back in for SA when they are fresh & rested. The Australia tour in particular begins very shortly after the Test series wraps up vs England.

It's nice to see Hasnain do well in this tournament but let's keep in mind Pakistani players don't really attack much in the PP and openers have really struggled in this tournament with teams often being 2-3 wickets dow with a mediocre run rate. He won't get that when going up against a team like Australia where batters like Travis Head will completely tear him apart if his line/length slightly goes wayward.

I still have my doubts about his action but I agree he needs to be given a long rope. I don’t really think he’s mentally weak, if you listen to his interviews he is a confident young man.
Plus, he is a fitness freak and works with specialized bowling coaches in England. He needs someone like Wasim Akram to mentor him, hell even Shoaib would be good to help him find some killer instinct. I always felt he lacked that murderous intensity that we all loved about Pak pacers.

Shaheen & Naseem and others aren’t even on top 5 list of the champions cup? lol these guys were billed as the best bowling attack in the world just last year.

Anyways, Hasnain reminds me of Mohammed Sami. High potential/expectation but low delivery. Someone said the lack of guidance and mentorship is hurting the growth of these Pakistani cricketers and they are spot on.

he can easily be replaced with Haris Rauf because he has the same pace and has better ability to take wickets in crunch situation.

Husnain the leading wicket taker currently while SSA and Naseem nowhere in the top 5. Hmmm interesting 🤔

I dont think Naseem has bowled full 10 overs in any match.. He has mostly bowled 5 overs in matches.. just the first spell.. I think in only one match, he came for second spell.. Also missed one match

Although.. I still think Naseem wasnt at his best in this tournament, and hasnt been as accurate as he usually is..He picked wickets, but also gave many loose balls..

Hasnain has bowled really well. Despite a high scoring tournament. He has decent lines. But more importantly he took wickets and his pace looked as good as it has always been.

I really think there should've been speed guns in this tournament.

A top-notch bowling performance by the tournament's highest wicket-taker in the all-important qualifier saw him deliver a fiery spell taking 3/25 which earned him the Man of the Match award.

Pakistanis and their love for over-hyping players - Mohammad Hasnain is nothing special...

Leading wicket-taker in a pathetic meaningless tournament with pathetic players counts for nothing...

Once the Champions One Day Cup Ends PCB needs to silently do the following things :

1. Get his action tested at NCA to see if it is still in allowed limit or not.

2. Design a fitness program for him keeping in mind the requirements of FC & Test Cricket.

3. Under the guidance and leadership of Jason Gillespie work on making his run up and action repeatable so that he develops skills on bowling consistent line and lengths rather than bowling few rippers along with spray gun stuff. (The Sami disease he suffers from)

4. Get him to play 5-6 FC matches of upcoming Quaid e Azam Trophy 24-25 with adequate Rest during the Trophy matches.

Without decent FC run and performances of note he should not play any international match for Pakistan. Already 3-4 years wasted.

Do you sincerely think PCB has got the time or the brains to follow any sensible long term plans? No sir. Give them some easy to follow quick fix ideas.

The easy fix idea is to bring him back into the squad straight away. This is not a good idea though. He should be playing more domestic names to solidify his position. ATM he is surely going in the right direction.

Another outstanding spell by Mohammad Hasnain, this time in the final of Champions One-Day Cup 2024

His pace and light swing troubled many in the tournament

He is leading wicket taker by a big margin in the event. Good to see Hyderabad express touching his potential

Taken 3 wickets off 38 runs in 8 overs which includes 2 maiden overs

Mohammad Hasnain is the leading wicket taker of the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 and he has 7 more scalps than the next-highest wicket-taker

I think he’s already handling points 1-3 on how own quite well. See the videos and then documentary posted in this thread. I agree he needs to play FC cricket, that’s the last step before he can comeback.

Mohammad Husnain win Bowler and Player of the Tournament awards, finishing as the Champions One-Day Cup 2024's top wicket-taker with 17 scalps

Mohammad Hasnain said in post-match ceremony:

“I want to give credit for my performance. I was injured recently, so I worked hard on my rehab with Dr. Javed Mughal in England; then, after that, I worked with bowling coach Shahbaz Choudhry (in the UK). Our team’s coaches, Zafar bhai and Umar bhai, I worked a lot with them, and they all really supported me.”

“In the last match, I fell down and had to get stitches on my elbow, but I wanted to play today. The management gave me lots of confidence as well. Alhamdulillah, I was able to play and perform in the final.”

Statistics were def better but from the small snippets of games I saw he didn't look any better. Someone tell me he has really improved

Much better old ball bowler. Shadab used him really well in his second/third spells…

Was good at times with the new ball too. At least he can bowl in the powerplay unlike Rauf who clearly cannot bowl with only 2 fielders outside

Extreme overdose of T20 cricket has ruined him by far that the need is to bowl just 4 overs per game and stay on the field for 20 overs.

Not much hardwork required and easy money.

He's been around for 3-4 years and has played international cricket too with very poor returns yet there's no vision of playing proper cricket which is 4 day FC and List A games.

There is a list of players in their mid 20's who have played 150+ T20 games and yet hardly 10-20 FC and List A games in a good number of years since they've become active cricketers.

He's still got a bit of time if he focuses on the other formats and works hard to find his own way around it as he's just not even done anything.

Mohammad Hasnain's exceptional form continues from the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 to the President's One-Day Cup 2024. He claimed 3/37 in 9 overs for PTV, but his efforts went in vain as his side succumbed to defeat against SNGPL

Mohammad Hasnain named to ODI squad for Australia tour 2024, top wicket-taker in Champions One Day Cup 2024. We have high expectations from him, given his improved action and pace consistency, which should serve him well on Australian pitches.

One word: Disappointing. Had my hopes high after the speedcamp stint but turns out his radar is still all over the place.
But perhaps the most demoralizing thing was his drop in speed..from the 18 year old breaking through PSl, bowling 156km/hr in CPL to now barely touching 140km/hr in the last 4 years.

I still support him irrevocably but the writing seems to be on the wall for his future hopes.

He is really very slow off the pitch. Don’t understand it. He doesn’t even look quick in the air but the gun shows 140. Some of his deliveries were only 3kph slower than Rauf, but the difference in optics was massive.

Even Naseem shah who on average was bowling slower than Hasnain (on the speedgun) looked significantly quicker.

Not an impressive start TBH. Maybe he is nervous that it was his first came after a long time but he looked pretty ordinary. No real zip and bite in his deliveries.

Mental-midget , will never get better at international level. In today's match at MCG, he was more worried about his action not be reported than taking wickets , hence was bowling much slower and with great caution , was disappointing .

He has potential but was badly managed by the PCB and doesn’t have the infrastructure needed to develop. Unfortunately, like all modern Pakistan players, he prioritized T20 leagues over playing the long format. Many county teams would have loved to him where he could have developed properly but he took the easy way out. Not surprising but sad.

Hasnain is not an international material better not to waste time on him and give chance to any youngster.

I agree with you, except we have no young up and coming fast bowlers, or spinners for that matter, or even batsmen.. Our domestic circuit produces really poor and raw cricketers...

The future looks really bleak, makes me sad...

one game is not enough to judget, lets see one more game.
No thanks! His career is over! Let’s move on! Pakistan cricket is not a test passing. We gave him enough chances and he performs in domestic Thn international. Try next bowler

Only performs in domestic. Let’s not waste time on this! We learnt a lot from Chacha. Pakistan cricket is not a joke! Either you perform or you kicked out’ so I if I were the manager of the team! I would deport him back to Pakistan domestic league. This will send messages to all the players like him and Chacha.

Just 1 game for him after his comeback. Might as well wait till the end of the series. 1 game is not a good level to judge any player. He made a comeback after long time.
