[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Mohammed Siraj - Performance Watch

Shardul is a short term option, the longer he plays team will figure him out and do well.

He has got the outswinger mostly which he used well by creating angles but the more batsman play him, they will find him easier to handle.

I think overseas, 4 pacers( including Siraj) and Jadeja/Sundar is a way to go. In England and New Zealand, I would have Deepak Chahar as 4th pacer.

Gets a chance to play vs SA - could well end up as replacement for Bumrah for the WT20

==

The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Mohd. Siraj as replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa.

Excellent death bowling by M Siraj

We have an amazing pace bowling depth in ODIs. Add Thakur or Deepak Chahar as third pacer who can bat a bit and I think we are sorted as far as ODi bowling attack is concerned.

As expected. He is a very good bowler.

But what do you expect from a management and selection committee that thinks Shardul Thakur is a 3 format player and keeps selecting him.

Thakur won't ever qualify purely as a bowler. His selection is mostly based on his batting skills as well.

In 50 overs game, you need a bit of depth in batting till 8.

Not at the cost of hurting your 4 specialists.

Chahar is the only one who can bowl in the PP as well as bat a bit.

Thakur is downright awful.

Do you really think Bumrah will play in ODIs? He is struggling to keep himself fit for T20 bilaterals and you are expecting him to feature in ODIs.

Few years ago I said that he should skip IPL to prolong his international career, otherwise he won't get enough rest before important series. I also said fans will realise this once he gets injured right before the world cup and this is what has happened. Playing useless pyjama league matches has taken a toll on his body. Aur khelo IPL.

Hopefully he will take a break from IPL next year. :inti

If I have Bumrah, Shami and Siraj then I can ignore Thakur. But Prasidh is a proper tailender just like Chahal in which case I will pick Chahar or Thakur over Prasidh.

Not Shaheen and Naseem but Bumrah and Siraj are the best fast bowling duo in Asian conditions because they have performed and succeeded in Tests and ODIs.

Siraj was always going to be quality and he proved it today. :inti

Bump!

I agree with you. He needs to be backed now regularly. Bumrah and Siraj is the best duo for India now and the quicker they understand better it is.

My Approach Was To Bowl Consistently At One Spot: Mohammed Siraj

Right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Siraj on Thursday said his approach to bowl consistently at one spot yielded rich dividends for him in the opening Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The Indian bowling unit, led by left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4/33) and Siraj (3/14), reduced Bangladesh to 133 for 8 in their first innings at stumps on the second day on Thursday. India had posted 404 in their first innings. Siraj attributed his success to bowling consistent line and length. "I'm more consistent in red ball because it's all about concentrating on line and length. The credit goes to all the bowlers," he said in the press conference after second day's play.

"My approach was to bowl consistently at one place because it is such a wicket that if you try more there are chances to leak runs. My only plan was to hit one spot and got successful." The 28-year-old said a fast bowler needs to bowl stump-to-stump to get success in five-day cricket.

"I think the more you bowl stump line it is better, because sometimes it is getting lower from there as well as turning. For a fast bowler, it is better to bowl stump line because then you can have LBW chances," he said.

Siraj is known for bowling with a wobble seam often and the speedster said he went for the option after discovering that his deliveries stopped coming in four years ago.

"In 2018, my balls stopped coming inside, I started bowling outswingers more. I got confused why balls are not coming in and that time I discovered wobble seam because it is difficult for a batter to tackle an outswing that comes in.

"Wobble seam is a type of an off-cutter and I got success with that," he said.

The Indian lower-order wagged admirably with Ravichandran Ashwin (58), Kuldeep (40) and Umesh Yadav (15 not out) putting up impressive displays to take India past the 400-run mark in the first innings.

"Runs from the lower-order is always good for the team, so everyone is showing interest in practice sessions. They (lower-order batters) want to do well," Siraj said.

Siraj is a fantastic bowler, always aggressive and goes for wickets. Should play in ODIs and Tests but should stay away from T20s. He was brilliant in domestic cricket and for India A before he made it to the National side. He came through the ranks the right way and finally India picked him for the Test side in 2021. His start may have been average and patchy but he will for sure be one of India's best bowler in that format.

He is an impact bowler. Took a bit of time to mature but he is quality. Hopefully, picks 200 test wickets as he is the best bowler we have since Bumrah.

He is skiddy and has a quick arm action. Deceptively quick too. On pitches with uneven bounce or deteriorating pitches, he can be handful.

If India is playing Tests in SENA countries, I would have him along with Shami and Bumrah. Very potent attack.

He is an average LOI bowler.

Impressive by Siraj in his first home game (Hyderabad) - 4/46 (10)

Guy seems to be bowling on different pitches as compared to all other pacers these days, asserting his superiority even on the likes of Shami.

Who can compare to Siraj out of Pak pacers? How do you compare Naseem to him?

Siraj in ODI has been brilliant. Taking wickets in powerplay regularly and also keeping runs down. He is in brilliant form.

Hats off to this boys attitude. He looks like the hardest working fast bowler in the team. The hunger is visible in his eyes. Runs in hard, making no short cuts. Well done brother.

He has a big role to play for India in few months time as the World Cup approaches.

The most skillful Indian bowler i have seen, he can bowl bouncers, yorkers, reverse the old ball, swing with the new ball, along with that he can also wobble seam,Hope he leads the Indian attack since Bumrah is in and out.

You didn't see Zaheer play?

Bumrah, Shaheen and Siraj would be amazing pace bowling attack for an Asian current XI.

Zaheer only had purple patch from 2007-2011 he underachieved in red ball cricket but i agree he was good in white ball.

To be fair Zaheer after that county stint in 2006 that changed him for the best was around the same age as Siraj now (28).

What I mean is that we're probably looking at Siraj's peak right while comparing it with Zaheer's whole career, but if you compare Siraj and Zaheer's own peak I'd say Zaheer still edges it.

It is because you are looking the whole career. Zaheer was moving the ball both ways in those SC tracks. Basically from 2006-2011 he was Wasim Akram lite version.

Siraj was actually good before but raw if it wasn’t for Bharat ArunI doubt he would had gotten a call.
Bharat Arun has been the best coach we ever had, such unfortunate circumstances right now.

Siraj in an interview called Bharat a farishta, Zaheer already had good backing due to his 2003 wc stint.

Salman Butt on Siraj

"He has bowled tremendously well in the recent past. His wicket-taking ability is getting better and better. His aggression is quite suitable for all kinds of cricket. The only thing that he needs to improve is his fielding. That's one area that he needs to work on. He is a wonderful bowler,"

Mohammad Amir on Siraj -

"The bowler who has most impressed me is Mohammed Siraj. If you look at the recent past, he is the most improved bowler in any format. With him, you need to groom 1-2 young bowlers ready because, in about a year or two, players like Shami will also be sticking to a single format,"

He will have good days and bad days. Capable of delivering a match winning spell on his day or go completely missing too on a given day.

'Hyderabadi Biryani Time': Virat Kohli and RCB Teammates Have Dinner At Md Siraj's New House

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Mohammed Siraj invited Virat Kohli and company at his new residence Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Hyderabad to have a Hyderabadi Biryani, ahead of the Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. A video has gone viral on social media by a Twitter user where Faf du Plessis and Kohli were spotted entering Siraj's house alongside other members of the team.

RCB’s official Twitter handle also shared pictures and captioned, "Hyderabadi Biryani time! The boys took a pitstop at Miyan's beautiful new house last night!"

The Bangalore-based franchise has 12 points after taking part in as many matches in IPL 2023. In order to qualify for the playoffs, they have to win both of their remaining matches.

Excellent work by Mohammad Siraj 4/108 - Given India a good chance of turning tables

Kapil Dev:

I think he has got great potential.”

“But I also feel he gets carried away with short-pitch deliveries. Yes, it is an important weapon for a fast bowler. When I saw India playing the WTC final, Siraj was bowling too many short-pitch deliveries whereas the Australian bowlers were pitching it up."

"Siraj has so much ability. But he has to analyze and see how many short-pitch deliveries fetch him wickets. He has the wicket-taking ability, but he has to execute his plans better,”

Just needs to be calm and improve his focus a little bit more. If he does that I see him as genuine threat in world cup games.

Muhamamd Siraj is wreaking havoc on Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final. Got 3 wickets in his 2nd over and was on a hat-trick. Absolute brilliant from this guy. One to watch in the upcoming world cup.

4 wickets now in that over

Craziest spell of bowling by a Bharatiya pacers against a top side.

Absolutely phenomenal

4 wickets in an over
5 wickets in 2 overs

Crazyyyy stuff

5 overs, 7 runs, 5 wickets

He’s looking threatening every over.
Almost got his 6th wicket if the edge carried to Kohli.

Won't be exaggerating to say He alongwith Boult are the best new ball bowlers going around. Boat load of new ball wickets in rececnt times from Siraj.

Also donated his winnings to the groundstaff. Generally the team shares it, but a nice gesture anyway.

Also, time people stop asking a Muslim about biryani every time they interview them. Shastri opened today's interview with this question. It's an embarrassing and cringe thing to do.

Absolutely apt prediction hence quoting this one.

Fantastic stuff from siraj rizwan & co who walk around holier-than-thou wouldn’t donate a rupee to the hardworking ground staff, instead find any league even in Antarctica if they can earn a quick bob or two.
