[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Pakistan name 22 probables for the ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe

I also hope the lineup would be decent, but knowing Misbah it probably won't. I expect to see Haris come in straight into No.4 or No.5 depending on Hafeez, I can also Wahab being a part of the pace attack with Mohammad Musa and Shaheen Afridi who himself needs a rest with the amount of cricket he's been playing.

Seeing Haris and Wahab giving tips and advise to youngsters also doesn't make sense if you have Hafeez and the coaching staff. Haris Sohail's best advise would be to not trust PCB medical department and Wahab Riaz would be making sure to not no-balls.

Overall I not certain as much as you are with the line-up. I don't see Khushdil playing ahead of Haris, specially with Ifti chacha there as the finisher.

Hafeez wont play the odis I think but will play the t20s .haris will play in the odis thou but not the t20s.shaheen needs a rest.i expect khushdil to play in the t20s thou not sure about odis

Haris is good enough to play for another 3 years. He has the skill to do so. Not like there is any youngsters crying out to replace him. He should keep playing and only if he gets into bad form then he can be dropped.

Haris should concentrate on odis and maybe tests if hes fit enough but I dont think he can play for another 3 years but I may be wrong

Not trying to jinx Haider but
Anyone feeling something different about Haider like he is a bit Babarsque, cut above the rest
every opportunity he is getting he is doing something unlike other youngsters you're confident he can score run, is a bit more consistent

I am excited I think he is our next Babar

Wont be as consitant as babar but definitely more of a match winner

Looks like Hafeez is all set to make his entry back into ODI Cricket

His form will be used as an excuse. But he often fails against big teams, he doesn’t contribute to the team as a senior batsman, Babar was carrying the team with the bat in ODIs. Misbah and his love for seniors. :facepalm

Why is Hafeez playing the ODI format.

No matter what or how bad Ifthikar is will be playing both ODIs and T20s

Ifthikar is under Misbahs quota
Usman Qadir is under Babars quota

Hafeez and Wahab are in for the love of seniors from Misbah.

Playing a full strength team against Zimbabwe in a home series, shows how courageous and hesitant Misbah is.

During his captaincy days , I thought he doesn’t take the risk of dropping seniors and prefer youngsters in their places is because of the fear of losing the captaincy and would not able to captain in 2015 WC

But it is actually his own self where he has fear of losing coming to him naturally and passes that to his team, and he is happy to lose with seniors surrounding and comforting him. Also if his teams captains doesn’t align with that which is not feared of losing then he will dropped and thrown away.

Yes thats the best XI. I would like Haider and Abullah(If selected for ODIs) to be tried over Fakhar and Haris at some point in ODI series. Also would be good to rest Shaheen and Wahab for Hasnain, Faheem or Musa at some point along with Imad for Zafar. Winning the series is important but, at the same time bench strength has to be tested in this series.

Also I think Khushdil and Shadab can be tried slightly up the order as we already know the capability of Babar, Haris and Rizwan.

Also Khusdil Shah's bowling stats aren't that bad

59 matches and 38 wickets. He is more than a part timer and a better bower than Ifthikar Ahmed

Iftikhar has done quite well in the t20s but none of iftikhar hafeez warrant a spot in odis and espically against Zimbabwe khushdil and haider should play they need a long run.

As for qadir he did quite well in national cup baring 1 game same again he should be given a chance if hes in the squad against zimbabwe.

Lahore, 26 October 2020:

When Pakistan and Zimbabwe play the first of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League fixture on 30 October, it will mark the return of ODI cricket to the Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium after 14 years.

Out of the 22 probables chosen for the series, a total of six players belong to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the twin cities.

Newly appointed vice-captain Shadab Khan has played a lot of cricket at the Pindi Cricket Stadium and he is looking forward to representing his country in his hometown.

Shadab Khan: “Exciting times for me as I would be vice-captaining at my home ground where I have some great memories of the stadium especially since watching cricket here as a spectator. I have even come here as a spectator to support Mohammad Nawaz in a domestic game, as he is a good mate of mine. The Zimbabwe series should produce good cricket at this venue where we have seen some really exciting games in the past.”

All-rounder Imad Wasim also played a number of domestic games at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. The 31-year-old, who first watched an international match at the venue in 2003 as a spectator, is hoping to make a big impression in the series.

Imad Wasim: “I watched a match here for the first time in 2003 when Bangladesh was touring; I saw the likes of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Shoaib Akhtar play that match and that was a big inspiration and motivation for me. I am excited and keenly await the start of the Zimbabwe series at this venue. We are playing an ODI after more than a year. Pindi Cricket Stadium is a great venue to restart ODI cricket.”

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir is another player hailing from the twin cities. The 19-year-old is keen on starting his Pakistan senior’s journey from his home ground.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf who lives near the Pindi Cricket Stadium is delighted to be a part of the Pakistan squad for the series. The 26-year-old has played five T20Is for Pakistan and is looking forward to the possible opportunity of making his ODI debut during the series.

Haris Rauf: “I was obsessed about cricket and grounds as a kid; I remember I once scaled the wall of the stadium at dawn just to touch the pitch of the Pindi Cricket Stadium. The possibility of making my ODI debut at my home ground is really exciting. If given an opportunity, I would really like to make a big impression and do well for my country.”

Rohail Nazir: “I am very pleased to play on the field where I used to watch others play sitting in the spectator stands. Now I have got this opportunity of playing and practicing with Pakistan cricketers on the same venue, it is an honour and something that makes me very proud and happy. If given a chance of making a debut here, I would give my absolute best and use my knowledge of the venue and the conditions.”

Rohail’s Pakistan U19 teammate, Haider Ali, is also another budding cricketer hailing from the twin cities. Haider is also ready to make a big impression after his sensational T20I debut against England last month when he became the first Pakistan player to score a 50 in a T20I debut.

Haider Ali: “I was eager to play at my home venue. I am very excited and want to make full use of this opportunity. Of course my aim is to build on the start I made; I am not at all complacent and rather fully focused on the upcoming games. The added incentive for me is to do well at my home ground where I have played a lot of cricket.”

Fast bowler Musa Khan is another youngster hailing from the region, his wish like the rest of the players is to make most of the opportunity of doing well at his home venue in an international match.

Musa Khan: “I played U19 cricket here at this venue, also represented Islamabad United and now I am looking forward to donning the national colours at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. I have a lot of cherished memories from the venue and I will use those memories to give me confidence and generate a feel good factor before taking the field.”

MenIng has PCB given any news on the broadcast surely it cant be just on PTV sports especially now their contract with Sony has expired. Also i doubt it will be live streamed on youtube although thats not bad i guess. They have left it very late for sure.

Really poor from the PCB for not stating who's going to broadcast this series

That are my thoughts too...this can happen all the time now as it will be done on adhoc bases. Previously ten sports had the rights so at least people knew beforehand.

Didn’t I tel few days before the match that he will play Ifthikar not matter what or how bad he is.

Chacha Ifthikar is under Misbahs quota
